I was in high school during the first half of the 80s, and Iron Maiden and Metallica were favorites. Got to see Maiden on the Powerslave tour - second row floor seats. I enjoyed the first three albums of the Dickinson era, but my favorites have always been the first two with Di'Anno on vocals. I think that Dickinson is technically a better singer, but I think Di'Anno's vocals were a better fit for the songs. Just my opinion.
Excellent channel I've been subscribed for about a month now and have been checking out your other videos! I love how you talk about old-school heavy metal thrash speed and power metal! 🤘🤘
I agree that the last few have loooong songs. The band deserves a bit of credit for doing their thing, though. The tours are more important these days, I think. For example, book of souls isn’t great but the concert was great. The tribal look and vibe worked on stage. Rock on man!
Cool. I respect your opinion..but for me killers is the best ..somewhere in time is also great 👍

KIllers is the best Maiden album. I saw them live on the Killers, Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind and Powerslave tours. Everything after that is patchy at best and crap at worst.
Good List! Ranking videos is always fun to watch, the overall differences and variations of personal albums tier list is entertaining as hell. Beeing a Maiden fan for 26 years now,( i was 10 years old and bought 4 Cd`s for some birthday money, at a local musicshop here in rural Norway, wich was Simple Minds - Good news from the next world, AC/DC - The Razors Edge, Nazareth - Loud n Proud , AND Iron Maiden - Live after death. Here is my list from least overall favourite album (meh.its allright) to the best listeners experience ( Yeah, repeat!) --- ( A bit controversal some would say) 17 Iron Maiden 16 A Matter Of Life And Death 15 Virtual XI 14 Piece Of Mind 13 Killers 12 Fear Of The Dark 11 Brave New World 10 No Prayer For The Dying 9 Powerslave 8 Number Of The Beast 7 Senjutsu 6 Somewhere In Time 5 The Final Frontier 4 The XFactor 3 Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 2 Dance Of Death 1 Book Of Souls
Hi Rick!!! nice list and cool to hear your thoughts about them, my favorite band...... the first time i ever lsiten to them was back in the 80's NOTB was my introduction and "Piece...." my first purchase (cassette i still own). i like almost all of their stuff, however i don't own the two BB's releases, yes both are kind of ok...... but ironically their first ever show here was during the X-Factor tour and it was wild/mayhem/chaotic at the same time, lol. After that show every time they play here shows gets bigger and bigger with sold out stadiums (En Vivo was recorded here!!! within hours. cheers and Up the irons!!!!
Remember when hearing Iron Maiden for the first time. A friend let me listen to The number of the beast in his walkman headphones, when that album just had come out. I was total blown away. 🙂 Had never heard something like that before.
Swore no purchases would be made this week as already over weekly budget. Now swearing because ignored that oath and placed another order. The Muriel Grossman saxophone and Steven Reid recommendation started it. So the usual thanks to The Professor and Pete for another episode of the series. Thanks, guys.
Great video !! I love Iron Maiden, my favourite band of all time. And the favourite album of all time is... Somewhere in Time !! My first metal album when I was a kid in 1986. Love every song so much on this album. Have also the same Top 3 as you. And love Fear Of The Dark, what a killer album, already because of the monster "Afraid of Shoot Strangers". "Judas be my guide" is for me together with "Loneliness of a long distant runner" the most underrated Maiden song. Well, I love every Maiden album but didn't like the vocals of Blaze with Maiden. On his solo albums, he is a much better singer. Up The Irons and have a great weekend
Thanks for sharing your personal ranking. I was a teenager in the early 80's & it was a fantastic time for great metal bands/albums. I prefer their 80's part of their career as well. Somewhere In Time would be in my top 3. Gotta love that's 80's sound. Cheers!
Maiden is a religion in Brazil. I went to many shows here.. the most important ones: Powerslave tour, Rock in Rio 1985. Fear of the dark tour in 1992. Brave new word tour, Rock in Rio 2001. Greetings from Brazil!!
First two are great, especially Killers. After that they got into their formula sound. Number of the Beast was good and the birth of the video age helped to elevate the band, but it wasn't quite as good as the previous stuff. I also thought Bruce's voice had less depth and somewhat derivative, as a Dio wanna be. I liked Power Slave and one or two others, but it seemed their writing had dropped off with subsequent albums. I was glad to see that they had gotten rid of the tights in recent years.
I existed in the 80s as a teen and can well remember Wasted Years being played a lot on the radio here in Finland when it was released as a single. That's how I taped it to a TDK, haha. Nothing crazy at all about putting SIT in the #1 spot, it's in my top four for sure, along with Powerslave and Killers, but your #2 is my favorite, the inimitable Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son: a perfect record!
Hey mate! So stoked to watch a maiden ranking that has the debut as high as you! I ranked all of maiden too and if you look at my profile picture, I you could probably guess where I put it 😂 But anyway yeah great video and subbed! Will definitely be checking out that your content a lot more! And also I am one of those maiden fans that put seventh son in the bottom half of the ranking 😂😂
My top 10: 1. Piece of Mind 2. The Number of The Beast 3. Powerslave 4. Killers 5. Somewhere In Time 6. Brave New World 7. Iron Maiden 8. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 9. Dance of Death 10. Senjutsu
The only Maiden albums that miss the mark for me and fall into the "not good" or "downright bad" categories are the four 90s records. There are gems to be found on all of those records, but not a single one of them is what I'd call a good album. In my opinion, every 80s Maiden record is a classic, and every post-reunion record is either "pretty good" or "pretty damn great." I think Brave New World and A Matter of Life and Death are undeniable masterpieces, and I kinda feel like Senjutsu might be one too. I suggest giving it a chance and spending more time with it.
Definitely agree that Fear of the dark is kinda underrated one. I love Judas Be my Guide Affraid To Shoot Strangers and Be Quick or be Dead. My favorites are however Piece of Mind Powerslave and Seventh Son. My only issue with Maiden is that they kinda miss heavy riffs.. I mean even Metallica or Iced Earth are melodic but still contain good riffage.. With Maiden i guess focus is more on melody and atmosphere...
@@gatelessgate2343 I like this idea… riffs from one specific band or all time favorite riffs in general? I could even play them on guitar while talking about them!
Wow, I sadly agree. I lost track with iron maiden after dance of death and now I'm discovering these new albums, but I had to stop on final Frontier because I think is atrocious and it has an almost depressive vibe to it. Amolad was heading into that already, tho, but I can't say is terrible. It's sad cause Maiden is my favorite band, I even like some of the Blaze stuff, but this... I don't even want to tackle book of souls after that final Frontier horror
Not sure man. I think YOU got old, Maiden didnt. They are.still challenging themselves, expanding their music horizons and i think ALL the new albums since the return of Bruce and Adrian are VERY good, including Senjutsu. Kinda sounds like you arent a big fan to begin with and you certainly don't know their music.
Butt hurt that I don’t love your favorite albums?? I don’t know because I don’t like their newer stuff… therefore not worth listening to or reviewing 😎 Derrrrrrr. Be smarter. NEXT
Bought Killers on the day of release. Saw the Beast On The Road tour and every tour there after up to No Prayer For The Dying tour. Not a fan at all of the latest New Wave Of Boring Progressive Steve Harris Solo Records.
I didn't like Seventh Son so much until I heard the original CD pressing like the one seen in this video. Every remaster or digital download version sucks all the life out of it, no dynamics and atmosphere. Luckily I heard the original Somewhere in Time first because that remaster ruined the sound as well. It's well worth seeking out the original pressings for all 7 classic studio albums.
I absolutely agree! I traded in ALL my classic maidens for the originals… Megadeth is another bad offender! Even gone as far as re recording parts, yuck!
Oh yeah, a few years ago I had trouble finding original Megadeth cds for decent prices but I eventually replaced them all. Those reissues were really painful. I can't think of any remasters or reissues that are actually better than originals@@rickrenegadesmetalreviews3243
Thank you. Finally someone said it. Look, Blaze may be a great guy and a good singer in the right band, but he is ALL WRONG for Maiden. Bad fit. It doesn't mean I hate him or am a music snob, it just sounds like the band is a shell of themselves with a weak frontman when he is singing. The range, the power, the presence, the bombast, the varied cadence is just NOT THERE if Blaze is there.
Very poor review. Maybe prepare a little better and actually listen to the records before having an actual review. “If I remember” “I think it was” “I don’t think I’ve ever heard that”. Changing your mind in the middle of the review is ridiculous. You didn’t do a review. All you did was give a half assed opinion of some albums you’re barely familiar with.
Very poor comment. I think I triggered another fanboy… this is a WORST to BEST… not just a REVIEW. If I don’t know it thoroughly then it didn’t do much for me ok? Maybe read the title of the video before showing your ass 😎 My 2 cents
Ok turned off when hou said bave new world was down on the list because 'its not from the 80s' ridiculous reasoning. Lmfao fear of the dark is one of the worst maiden albums closer to x factor than brave new world.
C'mon man. You look and sound like you don't wanna be there. You haven't listened to a lot of the albums very much. There's a lot of "I dunno's" and throwing your hands up and screwing your face up. You need to listen to them more to give a proper review.

Killers is their best. Every song. And great production. Bruce sounds like a dying cow.

I didn't think there's been a better produced album than Somewhere In Time, by anyone
Exactly. I don't even like every song on it, but that production galvanize everything

wth Pantera Power Metal Poster where the heck did u get that :O amazing!
I ordered it from Ebay… someone in Brazil made them 🤷🏻♂️ wasn’t cheap either… like 50 bucks 😆
You could do Sabbath ranking also. To complete ranking of the most famous bands hehe

@KeithPudliner-ns3wq Yep you’ve totally nailed it pal. 100% agree with you.
Love how you rant about long songs but say Sign of the Cross kicks the album off well. Two and a half minutes of inaudible music?
iron maiden were good in the pass but just a money making machine now just all sounds the same to me sorry guys
