Two mountains on one Snowshoe ticket! Check out my tour of Silver Creek here: ua-cam.com/video/PwmOeeYDUxE/v-deo.html
Also, I've added a few more runs not covered in this video:
Shay's Revenge to Lower Cupp: ua-cam.com/video/WtmDQZthgxU/v-deo.html
Grabhammer/Grab Hook: ua-cam.com/video/n4CcB4PdJ-c/v-deo.html
J Hook: ua-cam.com/video/7OCIYFHC_k8/v-deo.html
Great video. Love natural sounds and no stupid music
Thank you so much! That's partially why I started making videos. Just wanted to make them simple with a focus on the runs!
Great point, I've watched the video 10x now. Book a solo trip here, and have used this video as reference since.
@@samsquamptch Thank you so much for watching! Enjoy the mountain :)
Love the format of your videos, really nice to see each trail you took on the map before the footage itself. Can't wait to see you visit more east coast resorts!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching! Hoping to get to at least 5 more mountains this season, more if we have a good snow season.
9:40 Gandy Dancer is my daughter's favorite. The tip-in for the run is near the village, right next to where the ski school used to be with all the beginners. When she was 8-10 years old, she would slowly back up to it and tip-in switch with a play-acting worried look on her face. The adults who were in the ski school would just freak out about the little girl "falling backwards" down this bluerun. She thought it was hilarious. She'd then go back up the Ballhooter lift and ski switch back to the ski school area. Good times.
Hahaha thanks for sharing your story. I appreciate you watching my videos and sharing your memories!
I love Snowshoe. Silver Creek nearby if snowshoe is a bit too crowded (there's a bus connecting them too).
One big annoyance is that Snowshoe is in the National Radio Quiet Zone. So there is no mobile (4G/5G) signal basically anywhere.
A tip: turn off Mobile Network on your phone while you're on the slopes to save a lot of battery power.
Great tips! Thanks for watching :)
Bonus for the Radio Quiet Zone is the military does frequent fighter plane training over snowshoe and I've gotten a free air show every time I've ever been 😁 2 f18s ripped over the widowmaker unload station at like 500' overhead and scared the shit out of everyone haha
Outstanding video..!!! Thanks
Thank you for watching!
This place actually looks pretty legit. We may go here in Feb. as a little east coast getaway ski trip. It's only 10 hours from us.
western territory is so fun, and the shack at the bottom is a good hang
@ good to hear. We aren't able to take a big trip out to Colorado, Utah, Montana or Cali. So we are looking for a place near NC and WV to get our fix once or twice after the first of the year. Any recs are greatly appreciate. We are intermediate skiers, so it'll be a blast for us. Next year we are making two trips - one to Steamboat/winter park and one to Big Sky.
@@wilmoore5259 Snowshoe is easily the best place that you'll be able to drive to. I'd call myself intermediate as well and the western territory at snowshoe is legit. It has 1500' of vertical and a fast lift. We routinely get like 10 laps over there before lunch since that side of the mountain is black diamond only. Only 2 runs though...
Sugar and Beech in NC are fun for day trips but small and not very challenging at all. Sugar is better terrain but gets more crowded. The two resorts are only about 20 minutes apart so it's easy to do both in a weekend. Skiing is fun almost no matter what so if it's only a few hours from you it can be worth it for a short trip. I'm going early Feb to Sugar/Beech for a weekend trip before going to CO in March
Totally agree, Snowshoe is the best in the southeast. I think you'll have a great time there, thanks for watching!
Great video. I’m going mid December on a Tuesday. Think it’ll be very quiet?
Thank you so much for watching! I would bet that you won't have too much trouble with lines, especially if you plan on skiing the Western Territory.
You should go to winter place! It’s in West Virginia as well!
Thank you for watching! Hoping to get there this year
do you like it better than snowshoe 🤔 i’m coming up to virginia for the season. trying to pick the best bang for my buck so to speak.
@matthewgarcia9502 never been put planing a trip. There's a sale going on for Snowshoe Dec 19-22.
@@matthewgarcia9502 My personal preference is Snowshoe but you'll enjoy yourself at either mountain!
I’m going in January for the 4th time and considering western territory for the first time, but I’m super nervous and not sure if I’m ready 😂
Enjoy your trip! I would see how confident you feel on Widowmaker before heading over to the Western Territory. Have fun!
@ I have done that one 2 or 3 times without falling but I was FLYING 😂 50mph according to my gps
@@mattjudy7263 If you can hit 50 mph on Widowmaker I bet you'd be okay on Cupp 😂 Just be sure to go a little slower and not straightline Lower Cupp, it's steeper than the video does justice. Be safe and have fun!
@ that was my problem, I was forced to straight line out of panic 😂😂😂
What time of year was this filmed?
In mid February 2024. Thanks for watching!
I live in the south where we have no ski shops. Where can I get a good used pair of skis?
@TheOutdoorsDaddy the best time is to buy after or towards the end of the season at a demo shop at a ski area if you can’t do that i would try a website called evo hope this helps
What part of the south? There are some good ski shops in Asheville and the mountains and of NC. There is apparently as ski shop in Charlotte NC and Columbia SC but I’ve never seen them.
Edit: I just found out there are a couple ski shops around Atlanta and there are a bunch in Miami.

I got all my gear when I lived out in Denver so unfortunately I don't have a great answer for you. Best of luck in your search!
How Icy is it. I can't wait to go in January
It might come down to luck. Chances are you will hit some ice patches but Snowshoe does a good job keeping them covered for the most part.
I worked for the past two years as one of the internationals there, usually January they were able to do a good amount of with machines and we got some natural snowfall as well
@victormartini7035 awesome. I'm going in Jan, Feb, and Mar.
