Man what an huge gift! Thank you so much ProjectSam!
Thank you for continuing to update your existing libraries and for keeping support for older projects. It is much appreciated!
Im so glad you guys still working on those amazing libraries thank you! :)
I'm excited to be downloading it now! Thanks for the great update :)
Congrats to the ProjectSam team for this wonderful release! IMO, using Kontakt gives so much more control and easy of use compared to proprietary players like Sine.
I am so incredibly thankful for Symphobia. My first purchase and I still use it EVERY time I compose. THANK YOU ProjectSAM!
Your commitment to quality and your users = loyalty thank you ☺️
This library still sounds absolutely fantastic!
I have other things on my list right now, but I hope to get my hands on it one day.
Thanks VM for this fantastic update which is so much more useable, so good!
It took until kontakt outputs were mentioned for me to realize this wasn't a brand new standalone engine. Really well thought out, I particularly love the variations panel. Definitely some design inspiration from Cinematic Studio Series, and that's a good thing! Very exciting.
i have so many libraries but i always come back to project sam. simply the best out there!
7:30 LOL :D
Great Update!
Had me laughing out loud Maarten! :D
Couldn’t resist.
Amazing update! A game-changer. It's been awhile since my work featured Symphobia. This update has me excited to include it again, and has me exploring all the ProjectSAM products. Thanks ProjectSAM for this generous redo of something I bought over 10 years ago!
This was the first sample library I fell in love with. Excited to hear it and I will certainly be getting it
Bloody amazing! Thank you so much. You made an old man very happy! 😃😃😃
Absolutely incredible update! Thanks ProjectSAM! Through all of the cool new features. Symphobia never sounded better! Not bad for a 13 year old library! Great update, great library!
Thanks to provide a celebration sale, it sounds very beautiful, i love it!! My Sam libraries growing fast ;) now i will more deeply take a look at the Colors serie until next ProjectSam Release , but that’s a secret as you make us understand it :)
Absolutely fantastic update which helps so much with articulation discoverability and adds so, so many customization options.
Great update! Thanks!
Awesome! Thank you!
you explained it very well. thank you
Seems like a great update!
This is a fantastic update and thank you for providing it free to existing users!
absolutely stunning ... wishlist.
Each time, ever since the release, I watch a video or hear samples of this first Symphobia I soooo want to buy it. And I will, and maybe even, I should now with the discount. If only I made made money with my music... Te gekke video Maarten! I love how you enjoy this update yourself!
Dank je!
I can’t even express how great this update is.
I rely entirely on being able to use Kontakt libraries via NKS, and the mapping here is wonderful. So grateful to the ProjectSAM team for such a useful mapping.
I was under the impression that Kontakt multy files could not be loaded in Komplete Kontrol, but they’re visible in this update, is that a new thing?
Either way, it’s better than older libraries where, as a blind musician, I’d only get access to half the product because I can’t load a multi without sighted assistance, in Kontakt’s UI.
What a breath of fresh air.
7:40 - Dune vibes. Love it!
This is awesome! Timesync makes a big difference for the crescendi and runs now and it really sounds different, so much larger now! Don't know how you did it but simply thumbs up and thank you. PS: 'My desert...' 😂 wasn't prepared for that
I can't believe ProjectSAM is making this major update, well actually an upgrade, free to even those who purchased it back in 2008! It speaks volumes about the company. Now I have a complaint; this move by ProjectSAM makes me so happy that I am seriously thinking of getting their Swing! library! ProjectSAM, why are you making me spend more money when my 2TB SSD is almost maxed out? LOL
symphobia 1 is still relevant, a great library, one of the best ever
Great library. Very good video.
Thanks so much!
7:46 - "MY DESERT....MY DUNE" XD
As for the update - it's brilliant.
Got my S1 back in the day when it came out...this update allows me to squeeze more value out of the recorded samples.
Gotta love that scene! ;)
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling Its well writen and directed + i also like the actor they went for.
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling yes but the multi demonstrated here plays during the holy war scene.
You speak truth.
Im so happy for this update . I feel like a church mouse pissing on cotton . Thankyou thankyou thankyou . Keep up the good work .. I'll be sure to promote .
Returning to music in my dotage, I retired recently and decided to return to composing. I started with Cubase in the 80's on an Atari ST.
Do you know how much you have blown my socks off? Really? It's a new world and I'm glad to still be here to experience all this. The power you have given us is beyond my dreams.
I'm going to smash my piggy bank and get this. There goes my pension but I don't care.
You have fulfilled my dreams SAM.
I love the star ship enterprise on the keyboard...This update is exactly what I need....
Can you tell which Enterprise it is, Trekkie to Trekkie?
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling it looks like the NCC-1701-D… It’s so small I can’t hardly tell… Their were different ships that were destroyed during certain times, over the decades...
❤️❤️❤️
Wow - this update is free for existing Symphobia 1 users! Great to see that you care about your customers! Too bad I am not able to update, because my DAW died three weeks ago ...
Hope you get your DAW back to work soon!
Amazing! Will such an update arrive also for Symphobia 2?
Yes! And it’s almost done!
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling Yessss! Looking forward to it 😎
Great update ProjectSam! I just have a question. For a 14 yrs old library, is the update also including new sampled content or is it just the interface and the adaptive sync?
The 2.0 update adds many new features and options, including Adaptive Sync, for which we did have to edit the original audio, but does not have any original new sound content.
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling Thank you guys, you ROCK! :)
Thank you for this update. It seems I get a new VST. A new orchestra. I love it.
Very easy to stack sounds. Don't forget users : Kontakt 6 Player is required and always prefer a SSD for fast loading the huge All in one nki :)
Thank you! You’re very welcome.
Note to all: the new all-in-one instrument does contain all instruments and sounds, but only loads those samples into RAM that you select in the new library browser. In the welcome screen, only a few megabytes of RAM is used.
Enjoy!
I updated recently. I have a question: I want to reorganise my workflow and create a big template with Kontakt player samples from the multiple library I use. I wanted to use the multi output (16 or 25x stereo output in Logic X).. I understand how to do it with packs using separate instruments like Nucleus. But with the new Symphobia2 layout I can’t figure out how to use multi outputs. Should I have a Separate Kontakt loaded for each articulation? Or is it possible to have for instance legato strings on 1-2, pizzicato on 3-4 etc? Is there some documentation? Thanks
Hi there! You can set the output for each of the 10 Symphobia 2 mixer slots individually in the Settings tab (the fourth tab under the Symphobia 2 logo). This may not be mentioned in the documentation because it's a feature that was added slightly later on.
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling I've found it! Thanks a lot for the reply :)
Maybe I'm wrong, but when I hear sound on 5:25 I have instanlty had flashback from classic rougelike game ADOM. There is version with real graphic since some time (not only ASCII) and that kind of music is there!
7:41 AYO LOL. TRUE COMEDY
Amazing product..... game changer from its very beginning.... ONE IMPORTANT QUESTION: DOES PROJECT SAM LIBRARIES INCLUDING SYMPHOBIA RUN WELL AND NICE WITH NEW APPLE M1 CHIPS ON MONTERREY ( MAC OS. 12)??? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ANSWER.
Hi there, as of writing, Kontakt and Komplete don’t officially support M1 and Monterrey yet. But Kontakt works fine here on both (Rosetta 2). In fact, the walkthrough video was made on an Mac Mini M1.
Kontakt and Komplete will of course get official native support for both M1 and Monterrey, but when exactly is up to NI.
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling thank so much.....so it is a go for buying right now!!!! amazing product. It will work fine on my brand new mac book pro 64 gb ram m1 max....
I was really looking forward to this, but as soon as I updated, Symphobia disappeared from my library list in Kontakt and I can't figure out why.
Is your version of Kontakt up-to-date? The update requires 6.5.3.
is it backward compatible? or is it necessary to keep the old version? also, where is the legato, octaver and repetition in the new version?
Is there away to enable CC11 Expression? Seems like it became disabled after the update.
Yes, you can enable it in the Settings view for the selected instrument. It is indeed turned off by default.
Symphobia is my all-time favourite library and it's awesome that you still update it.
But I have one very big issue with that update. Where is my beloved octaver knob?:-(
That has always been my favourite feature of symphobia.
Edit: I've just seen your demonstration of the note stacker. I'm honestly relieved. However I don't quite understand, how it works. If I select String Quintet and add the octave, only a few notes get the additional octave?
Hi Nick,
The new note stacker works *per variation* - per item that you see in the list on the right in the GUI after you click an articulation in the grid.
The String Quintet is split into 5 separated variations (5 string instruments), each with a certain range of the keyboard. The note stacker currently only adds notes *within* each variation, so *within* each range. The cellos won't add notes to the violas. The violas won't add notes to the violins. Etc. It sounds like this is what you're experiencing. We realise this is not very desirable behaviour, so we'll look at it in an update.
Meanwhile, please note that the note stacker will work as expected for all non-split articulations, such as the normal string sustains or tremolos.
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling Ah, thanks for clearing that up taking the time to reply on a UA-cam comment! You guys are awesome. I'll use the previous version and will wait for the update then. A songwriting session without my beloved Symphobia string Quintet just wouldn't be the same❤️
Any reason why the "Bigger than Life" multi is not on the new version? That multi was one of my favorites.
We made a selection of some of our personal favourites to recreate in 2.0. But you know what… we’ll recreate and add Bigger Than Life for you in the very next update!
I also like this one most. 😉 Thanks Dante for asking and thanks ProjektSAM for the great work!
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling Awesome! You guys rock! Thank you!
Are you referring to the Multis specifically? As I wrote above, we remade a bunch of the old ones, but not all. With regards to the single Instruments, these are all still in the library. No articulations or sounds were removed.
When you say, regarding old projects, "the old instruments will require ... [Kontakt v6.x]" does that mean that old projects using the old patches that were saved in Kontakt 5 will not open properly after running this update?
Hi Jared. It depends if the old patches reside in a Kontakt 5 or Kontakt 6 instance:
- K6: Existing projects that include older versions of Symphobia 1 will still load as before as long as they were inside a Kontakt 6 instance. Kontakt 6 does need to be at version 6.5.3 or higher. If it's a lower version, you will get a 'library not found' error.
- K5: Symphobia 1 instruments that were inside a Kontakt 5 instance will no longer load. Your project will load, but the Kontakt 5 instances with Symphobia 1 will not. You will get a 'library not found' error. You will have to manually replace these K5 instances with K6 and reload the instrument in there.
There is unfortunately no way around the latter.
Where is “bigger than life” multis?((

Will this sort of thing apply to Symphobia 3? The fantasy-focused library? I don't own it, but have been eyeing it for some time. But it sounds like "it's not chronological except for Symphobia 2"-sounds like 3 won't be getting a refresh of GUI and/or samples? Dang. However, it sounds like you're in the studio, for probably Symphobia 5, so I'll keep an eye out. Mean while, I've just bought Spitfire's BBCSO and Abbey Road One, but would love a fantasy-specific library someday. I just hope that if Symphobia 3 remains the best option for that, it's going to get a face-lift and hopefully an ultra-modern feature set by the time I'm ready to invest. Thanks for the work you're doing!
Hi Connor! These are very time-intensive updates. They're much more than a GUI refresh alone. As much as we'd love to give all of our existing libraries, including Symphobia 3 Lumina, a similar treatment, we have to balance our time and resources. After the Symphobia 2 update our focus will be on a new library. After that, however, Symphobia 3 Lumina is definitely on our shortlist!
Was there not a multi called "Boldly Go" on Symohobia 1 or 2? That model is gonna go boldly off of the keyboard.
There was! We recreated a selection of the original Symphobia 1 Multis, and unfortunately To Boldly Go (To The Ground) was not one of them. Maybe in a future update.
For Symphobia 2 we recreated all of the original Multis.
How do I make a choice between symphobia or symphobia 2?
A good guideline is: Symphobia 1 covers the basis of the orchestra across various sections and ensembles, whereas Symphobia 2 adds additional and unique playing techniques, orchestrated combinations and effects. I would say it partly depends on what kind of libraries you already have. Feel free to contact our support team for more advice!
New Kontakt scripting? Or did you replace Kontakt? Hopefully you replaced Kontakt. Congrats, btw. I’ve gotten requests to support Synphobia in my Modular Template. Hmm.
7:28 At first I thought I wouldn't buy it, but after that. You know how to sell it. 🤣
I might've been using The Voice throughout the video without you even realizing it.
Anybody also experienced some high level mind reading during the outro? It's like I could guess each word in advance, crazy
Am I that predictable? :)
😂 I guess it's an efficient test to see if viewers are really watching the video up until the end
Is this update free for the users who bought this library a year ago?
It's free for every single Symphobia 1 user, even if they bought it all the way back in 2008. :)
Great new organization but there are a couple of major problems for me:
- The old version of Symphobia for Kontakt 5 no longer works, so all of my old sessions that relied on kontakt 5 are totally screwed! This is a huge problem for me.
- In the previous version I was able to simultaneously control ModWheel and Expression simultaneously for 2 layers of dynamics, and I large portion of my recent work relies on both. As far as I can tell, 2.0 doesn't support this anymore. This means not only do I no longer have the ability to do it, but all of my recent work has the wrong dynamics now! If I'm wrong and there actually is a way to still use expression in addition to mod, please let me know.
I'm happy that there has been progress on Symphobia but it has unfortunately been without regard for reverse-compatibility. If anyone here is wondering whether to update, maybe don't.
Hi there!
Thanks for your feedback.
- We have tried to make the new 2.0 updates as backwards compatible as we could. For example, we made sure that the old NKI files are left untouched and still load with the old GUI fully functional. However, maintaining Kontakt 5 compatibility simply wasn't technically possible. This is because Native Access updates a number of library-specific system files, which makes K6 the minimum requirement for the entire library (all NKIs). There is no way around this, unfortunately, and something we do not have full control over. You can, of course, replace the K5 tracks in older sessions by K6 tracks and reload the correct Symphobia instrument in there. This takes time, so it's not ideal, but it is a way to get things working again as well as future-proof for a long time.
- Simultaneous use of mod wheel and expression is still possible, but has to be enabled on an instrument level. If you load an instrument and go into the Settings tab (the fourth view), you will find a "Send expression (CC11) to volume" checkbox there. By enabling this checkbox, CC11 becomes a secondary level of volume control (alongside CC7), while still having full control over the dynamic sample layers using CC1 (or any other controller you assign in the performance view). This is how things worked in 1.6 as well.
@@ProjectSAMCinematicSampling got it. Thanks for the help with CC11!
A 15year old library for 300usd is wayy to much IMO..
