Size differences can either be ignored, or played into. Those oversized Kobolds might be used to represent lizardfolk, dragonborn, some kind of magically enlarged kobold, or made into a statue (ancient, forgotten kobold hero, perhaps?). Speaking of the kobold, the fact that it has no hand means it can be easily converted using pieces from one's bits box. Lots of extraneous weapons come with hands attached. Alternatively, you could wrap some thin strips of material to make it look like a bandaged wound, or stick some kind of kitbashed prosthetic, like a hook or punch dagger or whatever.
Unfortunately cheap is a relative word, so I would still have to starve for a month to get those. I still enjoy every cheap miniatures review you make!
Speaking from experience, the D&D board game minis actually accept paint really well. I got myself the Legend of Drizzt a few days ago and I tried to paint as cheap as possible. No primer and only using some cheap fluid acrylics ($5 for a set of 12), and they turned out pretty well. Also, forgot to mention that you get 40 minis (some large or huge included) for around $60+
Great clip! What’s your favorite D&D board game? The only one of the six I haven’t picked up is “Tomb of Annihilation”. I wasn’t sure if the minis were up to snuff compared to “Wrath”, “Legend”, “Castle”, “Temple”, and “Dungeon”, but would buy it on your recommendation. I have a set of these guys. You did a nice job. I am surprised by how well the Sharpie comes off! Can you wash/stain it like acrylics?
The sharpie takes wash OK I haven't tried stain. I gotta say for me personally the Ravenloft board game is my favorite. I dunno about the Tomb one. I was not very impressed with the wizkids sculpts.
I mean not really anything special. Flow improver on the base coat, either drybrush or wash then touch ups.I did pick out the metal bits on some of these with the sharpie metallic pens after the base coat which is a time saver as well.
Miniatures are easier to manufacture when they are larger. So mistakes get made. I am assuming the kobold just had more details and was printed bigger to make the job easier.
I would hope most people would understand the difference between a review and endorsing a product. At the end of the video I even talk about various alternatives and tell people to make up their own mind. And yes. Part of a review is so people can see the miniatures for themselves compared to other miniatures and make up their own minds.
The Kobold, Ruffles Potato Chip Shield!
The orcs remind me of the old Zelda moblins from Link's Awakening

The shield is the hand, it was replaced by a kobold artisan after it was lost in battle. He use to duel wileld.
That is definitely a big kobold, almost as big as the orc!
The Kobolds could be either leaders or maybe brutes as variations on the standard kobolds.
I like the orcs!
Yea, they are my fave too.
Regarding the D & D board game. In addition to the minis, you get a decent dungeon crawl.
Great review. I bought these a while ago and I always love your insight into miniatures.

Looking pretty good for quick work man. Love it 🙌

No primer? How long that paint lasts is up in the air.
I got these for christmas I painted the orcs and they turned out pretty good
I have this set, and I really liked them.
Holy crap, that hunched Orc looking model at 0:30 is almost exactly what I need! Do they sell packs of the specific models or is it all a bundle?
As far as I can see you gotta buy the $33 pack. You do get 5 of them.
I used the sorceress minis as the 'mothers' of my evil warlock.
I said the same thing about scale in my video on these. There are several good models... then others that are just oddly out of scale, needlessly.
These are great for dms that don’t care what stuff looks like or have much disposable income.
You are always finding the best deals.
Considering the cheap minis out there this is definitely a so so deal depending on your needs.
I think the D&D Board Games are better. Thanks for the review.
Oh yeah no question. I guess some people might like the design on these but the variety and value of the board games is still #1.
Cool
I’ll have to take a look
kobold sorcerer has cast enlarge other on his kobold bodyguards to protect him from the PCs
Could use the Kobolds as brute Kobolds

Great video!
Amazing, but in UK nothing? :(
You used sharpies to color those minis?!?! I am not that picky. I will try that for real!
Do you have speed paint tutorials? The minis look great to me : )

@@Blandco Thanks for the mini lesson 😄

+1 to engagment metrics
kobold's lost a hand somewhere xD
Tnx for the review
Why is the kobold bigger than the goblin?
Miniatures are easier to manufacture when they are larger. So mistakes get made. I am assuming the kobold just had more details and was printed bigger to make the job easier.
Expecially
i dont think its not 1 dollar anymore...
eSpecially
Dude, we can see those are garbage, don't encourage people to buy those
