I used your video to help fix a very stiff bath tap. The tap wasn’t exactly the same as the one you demonstrated with, but there was enough information for me to fix mine. Great video. Thanks for posting 👍
My old Mum (93) has become a dab hand at overtightening the bathroom basin hot water tap... I've had to change the half-inch washer twice... in the last 2 weeks!! Old washers used to last for ages! Can I purchase a really HARD washer that will last for more than 7 days!? Luv your videos, Al...
Brilliant video mate! Subscribed and liked! I've just replaced my dripping taps with brand new 1/4 turn cartridges...they have stopped the dripping but they are so tight that they spin the whole tap when I put them on so need to use on hand for opening the tap valve and other to stop tap from moving...any tips here? Is there a way to loosen the catridge?
Hi great video once again. 👍👍👍 Can I ask your advice as I'm worried if my boiler is safe. Every now and then I would get a loud whining noise come from my boiler after I had turned off running water from kitchen taps. The noise would last no longer than a minute Weirdly I didn't hear it for a while. Other day after turning off upstairs taps the noise came back worse than ever and wouldn't stop this time until I turned boiler off. When turned straight back on the noise hasn't returned in days. Now the noise definitely comes from the boiler. An engineer has told me that the noise is coming from a faulty tap washer could this be possible?? I'm confused as as iv said the noise comes straight out of the boiler and stopped immediately after I turned it off.
Which grease would you recommend to use on the areas you’ve said as I’ve heard that some of these plumbers greases shouldn’t be used on certain areas like the o-rings?
You say grease it. Is 3 in 1 good enough or specifically need grease? Asking as our shower unit become super stiff when turning off only. I put some 3 in 1 all over but doesn't appear to have made much difference
Great video. Love the way you talk. No nonsense, simple, straightforward
Glad you liked it! Thanks.

Try a proper plumbing shop, you might be lucky. Or an old one of a tap that has gone hard.

No they just normally loosen over time with wear.

I would get the boiler checked out if it is a combi. If its an F and E system it could be pump overrun with a noisy pump, or boiler over heat.
@@dereton33 So a faulty tap washer would definitely not be the cause of noise coming from the actual boiler itself?

Just use on the threaded spindle. There are lots of types of grease they are all good.
white grease

Do you have to disconnect the water supply line to do this work or just turn off water supply on that line?
Just turn it off on the line for the tap you are working on.
Love the short(s) video 😂😂

Hi.. totally off the subject..But is it ok to use pipe squeeze off tool on qualplex pipe?
Thanks
Yes should be fine.
For the price of some property grease, I think I'll just replace the full cartridge
Sometimes the best bet.
Brilliant, thank you

What grease would you recommend?
Any will do to be honest.

Hi when I flush toilet upstairs my kitchen cold tap leaks and and sounds like an elephant? Any ideas please
Try turning the flow rate down on the main stopcock. Or fit a shock arrester on the feed to the tap.
Worked ! Thanks!
