Thomas has become much more cocky ever since he got his branch line. The Narrator decides that, maybe, they should check Thomas' vibe, and keep him in line.

I feel really accomplished, uploading both episode 1 and 2 within the same MONTH, let alone year lmao

I would’ve loved it if the wind just picked up so strong and the narrator legit just vibe checked him off the rails instead of having the stationmaster do it, although the stationmaster was just doing his actual job unlike what they do in the tv show so I can already see this as an improvement
The thing about this episode is that it proved to Thomas that it wasn't the Narrator's fault for Thomas having issues, but rather the engines own actions.
If the Narrator just threw Thomas off the line, it wouldn't teach him anything

Winston: they are both learning Wallace.

Both: Edward, we had been completely doofuses lately like what you said, we were just jealous, like you said we let that take over us. We didn’t mean any things we said, most of the engines built with Thomas were not friendly, except 107, he was sweet but kind, but we were just goofballs or clowns. The made fun of every mistake we both made. When we came, we were determined to be the special engines, not the clumsy ones. We wanted to be #1. The 3 workers and others besides you learned something. Everyone makes mistakes, happens every time, we can’t loose sight of the going. We are sorry Edward. We really are.
Edward: you guys, that is the wisest thing you said, I can ever agree with you. You know I was having same issues with engines on my line. And right now, compared to them, you both were really cheeky, not malicious, well at first, I have also been a doofus. Sorry why I acted. I must say about engines blue made me laugh. Station Master: the 3rd one is also green, however he is an actual design. An LNER B12 I think. His number is 98462.
Fat Controller: what are the names?
Station Master: 87546 has no name. The unnumbered engine is called Henry. And 99462 I believe, is Alfred and there is a girl named ReiRi A girl with Fangs like vampires as the driver of 98462/Alfred and 87546

Whose trucks were those chasing Thomas before they vanished? Just some random runaway another one of the engines lost?
They were just a line of trucks the Narrator summoned, hence why they appear out of nowhere.
The Narrator should be taken in a literal sense. He is the Narrator, he says what is happening, and where the story will go from there. The trucks were just part of his way of trying to keep Thomas in line
Phew, at least that makes sense in a weirdly interesting way. Thanks for clearing that up for me. He took a chance and ran with it.

Thomas was the one who ended up speeding and causing the crash, but that was only after becoming paranoid thanks to the narrator literally toying with him for no reason
I just want to take the time to sincerely appreciate the fact that you're one of the first people to really put together that The Narrator isn't meant to be a reliable character when it comes to who is right and wrong

The "vibe check" is that Thomas learned that he had to become more responsible for his actions. He had become arrogant due to having a branch line, and so the Narrator showed Thomas his arrogance by letting him act on his own accord, and getting himself derailed
