The way to cure those tight parts is to use a Weller instant heat soldering iron, hold the tip on the pivot for at least 10 minutes and the old lubricant will melt, as soon as its free, spray with drake cleaner or alcohol to wash it away, and lubricate with light oil for something like a sewing machine. No need to dismantle anything.
small hot air gun take of all that mess i have fixed alot of teac tascam there's no need to take all the unit apart more likely to mess up or parts go missing i glued the mag part back in till the new one turned up
Hello, I have the TEAC X10R and i want to replace to back panel, but i cannot remove the pcb's mouted on old baack panel without distroying the plastic mounting spacers. Can you tell me how?
where is the audio out relay switch/part on a X10-R? mine has no audio out but I do have audio out from the headphone jack...meter lights also went out when the audio out from the rca's stopped operating.
So you said it had a plastic cover? Can you show it next episode. Might want to request you replace it with a wood one. Seems like is would look better with wood no?
Wait till you see the lightly smoked plastic cover that goes over you won't want to change it to Wood. I've got one 😂 on a tascam 32 2B which is the brother to this TEAC except no Auto reverse, because it's a half track machine
There is never a need to take a machine apart to that extent ever. This is normally done by hobbyist and amateurs. Real Technicians fix the problem and do not make a massive jig saw puzzle out of the unit- I have been fixing these of 45 years and never took one apart like that unless it was being parted out for other reasons. To me this does not show that you know what you are doing but the opposite.
Hi Rob, I just had enough of the comments from one of their moderators so now I only answer by PM IF I have time to do so. People know where I am if they need me. @@SDsailor7
I agree, but do take a look at for example "stav-hi-fi-vintage". He's been doing this for more than 20 years, and he repairs all those reel to reel, that techs couldn't or that they did quick fixes on. At a point in time, say 40 years from new by today, 2023, it's time to really take them apart and do a thorough rebuild. Kind regards.
You need a tape head demagnetiser, plug it into the mains and wave it about as close as possible to the heads and the guides and spindle, then slowly move it away from each demagnetised part. Unplug it and don't let it get near any tape reels. Should find one on eBay.
Buscalas en ebay y ahi versa en cuanto se estan vendiendo, no lo que piden por ellar sino por lo que se vendieron. Ahi uno encuentra en cuanto se vendierron.Saludos
Hi, anyone know what a urine ammonia smell coming from a reel to reel is? I bought a used one and is full of dust and after 5 minutes of running a intense urine smell started to come from it.
Like KenBob52, I am very interested to know how to disassemble it, particularly to extract the mechanism !!
Keep posting you videos bro!!!

Man, you needs a little parts tray for those clips and washers
It would be nice if you could show a video of how you disassembled the deck. Thanks

Probably a bad capacitor.
