Nice to see a 1990's odd ball Nissan continuing it's life here in the US. I still have a soft spot for '80s-'90s Nissan vehicles. To this day, the best vehicle my mom ever owned was a 1987 Nissan pickup. Base model truck with no power steering, no power brakes or any other luxuries other than fog lights, sliding glass rear window, aftermarket wheels and a bed cover.
I got really worried when I started watching this video, and I don't want to doubt you, I am sure you have a plan and you know how it is all going to fit together. One thing is bothering me though, what type of v8 are you going to use in this build?

Love these cars, we raced one a few years back. And the engine is a close cousin to the MA09ERT that was in our March Superturbo. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

having driven one, well its not a car to drive much at all. in fact i would suggest its more of a car to sit beside, sipping strong coffee from tiny cups, perhaps cafe ccnstant on rhe Rue Saint dominique watching girls in smart skirts go by.
The Figaro always struck me as a timeless car. First time i saw it, i didn't know what to make of it, but as i kept giving it rounds in a busy Shinjuku parking lot., the concept of this car struck me. Shock and awe, followed when the owner, a spry fella in his second youth told me it had been produced in the 90s. Truly, timeless, from its shape, to the interior, even in the engine bay. I am willing to bet that even in ten years, people will look at this car and not feel its age.
I've never seen or heard of this car before, but it's design is timeless. It looks like it could have been made in the 50's or made yesterday. Truly a unique and special car.
I can't wait to go on another journey with ya tom, thru your videos your explanations on things are so clear and makes it easy to understand what is going on

Really excited about this build. Only heard brief bits about it over the years, saw some Australian guys do a figaro and it looked amazing. You can still find these cars but they are rarer than hens teeth. A direct import will still cost you about $30k US for a Figaro under 6k miles.
I could never have guessed this would be the next project, but I dig it! There's something really appealing about that era of Japanese cars and I'm glad you plan to keep it mostly as-is. Still, one can't help thinking what that car would be like with a big swap...
Congratulations on your find, Tom! It will be the talk of every town you drive it in. More attention than walking a new puppy! I have a JDM importer less than a mile as the crow flies (or 5.3 miles away as the crow drives because there's an airport runway between us...) they've got a Syborg sedan, and they also have a 1992 Delica that's been monster-trucked on 40" tires. It arrived here that way. It's absolutely hysterical, but the Japanese don't know much about monster trucks. I'm more interested in the Syborg. I'd rather bring either of these to the shootout than everything else in my driveway because it's where all the best people would appreciate it the most.

So you went and bought a Nissan Figaro. Those are some nice compacts over there. I'd like to have a Honda Today or City Turbo II with the Motocompo in the back. Can't wait to see how you fix up this beauty of JDM.
Nice Figaro :) Ours is green and we called her Gurt! Is it going to be your everyday car? (We use ours everyday and its fine) Very reliable little cars, never lets us down. They are so unique and they have something about them that grows on you and makes you smile every time you get in it! Don't customise it too much though, they are supposed to look standard and not fully lowered or anything too major like that! Maybe if you want different wheels the original alloys rather than Polo's? Up to you but as they are rare in the states standard for now would be best!
I'm very excited for you. In New Zealand we have a few of them. The S Cargo mentioned earlier is more popular and was used for advertising small businesses with their logos stuck to the sides.
Welcome back TT! Like most people, I've been wondering what your next car would be. I don't think I'm the only person who thought...a Nissan Figaro, WTH?!. I must admit that I was slightly disappointed at first, but after watching your video twice, I think you've made a great choice. It's an interesting little car...I like it! Not every car in my garage's are pavement pounding, tire shredding, terror machines. A couple of my car's are(as my friends say) kinda boring. As always, thanks for making and sharing your videos!
Never heard of the Figaro. Kind of reminds me of the old Nash Metropolitan. Thanks for the overview. Don't understand the thumbs down people, its a car video. I did some right hand driving in europe, took a while getting used to it. Right hand drive in the US will be easier, maybe.
