Thanks good job. To check the kV I usually go with a cheap speed controller without timing and measure the RPM at a given voltage (but i admit not everyone has an rpm meter at home)

HI Gehan, thanks for the comment! Yes measuring the resistance of the 3 phases will also help identify any problem. However, measuring resistance of a phase is a bit more complex (video on the channel on this) and you will not get any understanding of the state of the rotor. Measuring voltage on each phase will provide you will all the information to make a full assessment.

A few years ago, I got a hubsan h501a drone, and after about a year one of the motors stopped working and created a bit of smoke. At the time, I was planning on spending some money on a dji mavic air, so I took that as a chance to get one and never looked back. The hubsan kinda got abandoned in my closet. Now a couple of years later I'm thinking of fixing up the old drone just to fly for fun when I'm not flying my mavic. I know that it's the motor and not the esc because I tried swapping two motors around and the a different motor worked fine on the esc that the fried motor was on. I'm just wondering if it's at all possible to repair the motor, or do I definitely have to buy a new motor? Thanks 👍
I don't know who to pass this on to, but there's almost no videos about vent holes in rc bodies. I want to know the aerodynamic effect and cooling performance that can be achieved with a few well placed holes for nitro and electric RC vehicles. Especially SCT bodies
It's something I can look in to, to see if I can get a CFD analysis done on it.
@@RCexplained Thanks for replying, forgot about rc buggy and their rear wing (I thinkTLR has a few with a front wing), I know it's pretty obvious what it does and how it works, but there's so many setups and adjustment that can be done to any RC car to meet the track condition, the body and wing play a huge role when the car is moving and in the air. I have a proline truescale ford F-150 '17 and cut vents on the hood, middle back window, 4 short vents on the bed, and vented the sidetop of the tailgate, just seemed logical to vent those areas but I haven't tested it yet.
idk if u will still read this, but i removed the plastic windshield on my shortcoarse truck (took out the piece where the window sticker is (whole) and added a fiber tape mesh type thing there. same for the door windows. now the air has good flow, provides decent cooling to esc and motor (my esc has 4 rotor blades broken so yeah air cooling actually works) motor does get hot after 10 mins but i am using a onroad motor 12t 4300kv on a offroad car so i say it works.
what if the cogging feels much stronger on my brand new Trinity 4.5 t and even stronger on my Dash 7.5 t but very weak cogging on my Trinity Kill Shot 13.5 t ??

My brushless motor by castle creations which I have I noticed I run it off the rc and see powder black stuff shooting on the table and is that a indicator of damage? I'm hoping it's the pinion gear that is stripped and made the dust stuff.
My rotor opened and locked the motor. Not sure what they use to wrap the rotor but it didn't work lol Poseidon 2200kv. Great info vid Thanks💯🙂
Oh no! An aggressive lock up could damage the stator to the point where replacement of the motor is your only option. Thanks for the comment.

My motor doesn’t spin freely. I believe when I opened it up it was a crack in the magnets an the shaft has play forward an back can I fix this if so how ?
I damaged a drone motor magnet by getting it stuck on a branch, i could feel the difference in cogging.

and a 3000mah 35c (105a)lipo,

It sounds like you have selected a 2s LiPo with a 3400kv motor selection.
If so this can work with a 600 to 700mm hull.
A catamaran can be purchased as hull only. Look at offshoreelectrics
