I'm a former US Marine and civilian cop and worked in Afghanistan for over five years as a contractor, from Herat to Jalalabad. Advising and security. Worked around a lot of fellow security contractors from many countries. Some were really good, and some not so much. Overall a good bunch of guys. I gotta say, I miss the work. Good money and travel.

They are not against pivate paramilitary service for tasks such as security, they are against private military firms being paid to do the job of the government and be sent to war instead of the official military. The invasion of Iraq started in 2003, 150 000 US troops, or more I think. Then by 2007 half of the US forces in Iraq were mercenaries doing the dirty job of the government and committing war crimes. Friend of mine did two tours as a private contractor in Afghanistan a while after he got out of the military. Also multiple military deployments in Iraq. Great guy if you grew up with him but unfortunately a certified combat adrenaline junkie with a very short fuse prone to extreme anger. Now he's a US Marshall assigned to high level cases. Go figure.

I worked in Afghanistan, from 2006 to 2008, as a Correctional Advisor and trainer. I personally knew several of these guys, since they were in charge of our security while I was in Kabul. They were very professional and great guys to work with. I have posted several videos on my UA-cam channel of my time in Afghanistan. :-)

Jesus, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near these guys running those “drills” unless there was at least a vehicle between us. Their muzzle and trigger discipline is worse than my 7 year old nephew’s. They’re almost as likely to kill their own as they are anyone else. I know this was filmed back in ‘05 and there was a lot of people wanting to get in and get nice pay day and they’re in a hard and dangerous environment but that doesn’t excuse their shitty weapon discipline, especially in drills. If they’re in the heat of battle in a fire fight it’d be slightly understandable (though still not excusable), but they’re not..

Hi Bob. No you are quite correct I have never been in a combat zone. I am just a practical handgun competitor. I have nothing but the utmost respect for operators in the field of combat and am very appreciative of their service. That being said I am fairly sure that trigger safety is just as important in combat as it is on a civilian range. I am not trying to provoke an argument and I trust that you will take my comments in the spirit that they were delivered.
safekraka hello my friend no argument we are having a friendly convo, u are correct trigger safety is never to be overlooked but in a hot zone the rules get bent in a manner of speaking.. Think of it this way the hammer was not pulled back and it wasn't a rifle the pressure needed to pull that trigger would make it highly unlikely to fire off a round by accident. standard operating procedure at least for me is finger on the trigger when in a zone were we can be engaged at any moment
