    as a skidoo tech my advice it to make sure surfaces are clean and to make sure everything if oiled propery and to make sure everything is toped off on fluids

    That will be a fun sled, and a lot of power. I like working on my Polaris Edge much more than those Ski Doos. A lot of people hate working on sleds, but they really are pretty fun to work on once you understand them.

    I would take the head lights and the top plastics off the sled it will make your life 1000 times easier

    Pull the clutch, clean and replace belt. Check your chain case wear. Pull your headlight panel off for more visible access. Ski doos are probably the least favorite to work on but good sleds. That rev chassis changed the game with sleds back in the day.

    7:34 just wait when you are going back to get that 10mm socket. Then you'll be having the need to swear a little bit!

    If you can find a clutch puller installing the top end will be much easier if the engine comes out, they don’t weight very much

    • @KincadePavich
      @KincadePavich  Рік тому

      Noted - so you would recommend pulling the whole engine, doing the top end on the bench, and then installing the entire engine as one block?

    • @jackcain210
      @jackcain210 Рік тому

      Yeah it’s very little work for the benefit it grants, there are some coolant lines that run on the bottom of the engine it would be ideal too drain them and also check the oil return gear in the crank

    Haven't finished the vid yet but get a bumper asap!!! One small hit can smash the tune pipe and mess the cylinders up

    did you check compression? Check for spark? Spray starting fluid in carbs and try to start?

    • @KincadePavich
      @KincadePavich  Рік тому

      Didn't check compression but certainly felt low, yes checked for spark, yes tried starter fluid. Previous owner said he took it to a shop and they said low compression, needs top end.

    I know that there a special grease that ski doo uses on the clutch side bearing and it's not cheap !!! Your supposed to regrease it every so many hours or mileage not sure the exact #

      @KincadePavich  Рік тому +1

      I plan to service that bearing as well as the clutch. Also change the oil. In response to your other comments, thank you for the welcome, and do you think at this point I'd still be better of removing the engine? Can I install the top end on the bench and then install the entire engine at once?
