From a cosmetologist’s point of view, I have to say Olaplex and K18 are THE gold standard for bond building products; they are expensive, but they work 😊
I have two tips for using the “No.0” - 1) I put mine in a mister bottle that has a very fine sprayer (I bought my bottle on Amazon - I think the brand is Segbeauty). The finer spray bottle helps get more of the product in the hair and reduces it from running/dripping. EDIT: If you use a spray bottle with a finer mist you still need to hold the sprayer close to/directly on the hair. 2) Close the drain on the sink, cover the whole sink with a plastic garbage bag and lean over the sink while applying the product to the hair; the plastic bag will catch any product runoff which you can then dip your head into 😊 EDIT: You can also use a large bowl instead of a garbage bag over the sink….I just find the bowl method is a little more cumbersome. BONUS TIP: Cover the head with a plastic cap while the products are in the hair; this will allow your natural body heat to help the products penetrate better 😊
If your stylist uses Olaplex in the salon, there is a No.1 and No.2 that can be used during the color process to help protect the hair; there might be an extra charge for it, but it has really helped the condition of my hair when I get it highlighted.
    Hope this helps 🥰

Ok Jen I got ya on the vibrant hair color care routine! I have been dying or having my hair dyed vibrant funky colors for over 10 years now. I am visually impaired & my dark brown hair was just boring so started out getting an “oil slick” look dye job to balayage, to pastel tips with bold roots etc. So yeah the Olaplex #0 then adding #3 is really good but expensive so I rotate that with Glaze Super Prime spray & layer the Clear Conditioning Gloss over top leave on for 10 to 30 minutes. Check instructions &/or stylist, of course. Glaze is an online, Indy I believe, company u can subscribe to or just order when needed. It is a bit cheaper…$16 & $19 vs $30 each. They don’t have wilder colors but the clear works great! Also & hear me out washing hair in cool or cold water makes the color last way longer & less breakage, hot water opens the hair cuticle & causes the dye to wash out faster. Also washing less often is healthier for dyed hair, use dry shampoo before bed to help keep it from getting funky. Also wetting hair is cool water before going into a pool can be helpful. Sorry for the rant but maybe some of this will help. I get asked a lot about my hair & have done a lot of research on what works for my hair & keeps it healthy. Hair vain here!

    • @Bubbles_Hill
      @Bubbles_Hill 2 роки тому

I love my blinc tubing mascara. Every once in awhile it will flake. But that’s my fault. That’s super lazy days when I don’t remove my eye makeup. Just a quick wipe down of the rest my face with a cloth makeup wipe. When I’m just too exhausted to stand at the sink longer than brushing my teeth. Once a mth I have to drive my dad for his treatment and it’s an all day venture involving a couple hundred miles. Come home, get the kids in bed and crash myself. And of course the next day is rough on me (I’ve had four back surgeries so those trips kill my body) I digress.. it only seems to do that once it’s toward the end of its life and drying out more.

The L'oreal Everpure Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner and In-Shower Acidic Glaze work very well to repair damaged hair. I've used the Olaplex kit and Redken Acidic Bonding treatments as well. I learned from Aka Aislinn that Redken is owned by L-Oreal so the cheaper alternatives have very similar formulas and ingredients, and for me and my husband they work quite well. It is so so much CHEAPER to purchase Olaplex from a beauty supply house that only sells to licensed hairstylist and aestheticians.

I would have kept the set if this had lived up to expectations even though the rest of the items were just ‘meh’, but this mascara was terrible. It flaked during the day which none of my other tubing mascaras do, and it didn’t come off with warm water either. Having gone from a natural midtoned brunette to baby pink i totally recognise what your son has faced! Alternatives to olaplex Knight and Wilson pureplex you can get a kit which includes a large sample of a clarifying shampoo and a conditioner but you can use the 2 treatment steps with any shampoo and conditioner you regularly use. If you do use the clarifying shampoo be warned the hair will feel worse before it gets better once you apply step 3! Revolution have a plex line but I've not tried it yet. Another couple of products that work differently but make an instant noticeable texture difference are loreal wonder water and glaze conditioning gloss (these are primarily designed with a colour tint to prolong yourhair colour but theres a clear one that your son could use with blue hair) and you can use them in conjunction with olaplex or your regular hair care system xx

Try using just olaplex 3 after washing, let it sit for 30 minutes to get the full repair and then shampoo and condition, I have only used the 3, 4 and 5 at home and my understanding is that the 0 doesn't do that much. I used only the 3 and it worked for me. I also love the bonacure mask for color treated hair ( the pink one). Other brands with similar products to olaplex that I know of are k18 ( more expensive though) redken and joico but I have only tried the k18 and I had to use it 6x to notice a small change in my hair but I do think it's more permanent, the olaplex needs to be repeated, I stopped using it and I felt little pieces of broken hair on my back after washing.

No improvement. Since I have been using Olaplex, my hair has grown so long, is in fantastic condition (and I color treat every month). I never really cared what I used in my hair ever. Cheaper alternative for olaplex: inkey list bond repair hair treatment. Not exactly the same but olaplex works because it repairs the bonds in your hair. You could try the inkey list one to see if it has similar results. It might be less potent, so you might want to try it out for a bit. Maybe even using olaplex for the summer when he’s in the pool and using inkey list in the off-seasons to maintain the health of his hair.

My benefit pencil is very pigmented and I actually have to be careful and apply very soft pressure so it doesn’t apply too dark

I use olaplex 0,3,4,5,6 & 8 to fight my eczema and protect my hair length. So, I feel the price. 🥴 Lately, I've been trying Revolution plex. It's way cheaper and is working similarly.

Ok, so I know I will be perceived as one of those freaking know-it-alls....but here goes: sugar is a carb. So anything with high sugar is gonna be high carb. Veggies are carbs too.... but ones with high nutritional value and density. By all means avoid those nutritionally void carbs (such as sugar) and go for the better ones. Your body needs them. And Yasso bars are totally YUMMMMM! PS: love all your content Jen. Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

In regards to Olaplex dupes, I'm not entirely sure if any exist. I've heard of makeup revolution making dupes, but my hair so picky I'm afraid to pick it up. I usually wait for the sephora sale to grab olaplex for a discount.

The same thing happened to me with the Tarte tubing mascara. It flaked under my eyes.

I used the new Benefit brow pencil once and liked it so far. I usually use powder and this was a bit quicker for me.

I have pink hair and I use olaplex no.3 every so often for a deep treatment and no.9 for regular maintenance. As far as alternatives, I haven’t really heard of anything cheaper to be honest. I know some brands are coming out with their own “bond repair” lines like Bumble and Bumble, Redken, etc. but I don’t think they’re much cheaper.

I just purchased Olaplex products for the first time (protector, shampoo, conditioner) and I really like them. I only wash my hair twice a week and use the protector every other week, so I can justify the price.

I swear by the Good Pop chocolate bars. They are a “healthy” fudgesicle. So rich and creamy, I prefer them over the real thing.

I just love watching your videos! I always feel inspired and that your recommendations are genuine. 😍😁 alternatives to Olaplex is quite hard since some parts if the formula/ingredients are patented (not sure I spelled that correctly 🤔). I've heard people talking about the k18 mask as being as good or better than Olaplex. Where I live k18 is 1/4 to about 1/3 if the price of Olaplex. Might be worth checking out 🙂👍

Looked it up and the K18 mask is $75 for 50 mL while Olaplex is $30 for 100 mL.

So many awesome products, especially the eye ones. They're stunning.
I totally thought the ketchup and Fenty collection was going to be number 10, but I appreciate your explanation. That makes total sense. The Tula skin tint, totally sounds like a Wish description. Lol. The name is so long, made me laugh. Lol.
The only dupe for the Olaplex that I've seen is by Revolution and I have no idea if it's good or not. You might want to check out reviews or UA-cam videos about it and see if anybody's had any success with it.
    See you on Sunday.

Olaplex rescued my hair, too, after too much at-home bleaching/dyeing (went from dark brown to blue). I hadn't tried anything from them so I got a couple of starter kit sorts of things and actually found it to be a good value.
