Don't throw away your leftover pickle juice

  • Don't let perfectly good pickle juice go to waste. Use it to extend the life of fresh whatever-you-have-in-your-fridge produce, like cukes, tomatoes, garlic, and more. Just add a sprinkle of salt and a splash of vinegar-white, rice, apple cider, red wine, or white wine will work. Let your veggies sit overnight and then enjoy fresh homemade(ish) pickles for the next few days. #pickles

That red wine vinegar made it worth it. Remember; if you're using the same brine to pickle other veggies, please add at least a 1/2 oz of vodka (or similar alcohol percentage) to ensure bacteria is killed in the process of pickling. Since it isn't vacuum sealed, or sanitized container. Might wait a week or two in the refrigerator. Do NOT put this back in the pantry.

I’ve always saved my pickle juice & my mom asked me why??? When I showed her, she said my great-grandmother did the same! I had no idea!
Great-Grandmother’s Hamburger Dill Sweet Pickles Recipe:
1 - 32 oz jar dill pickle juice
    3 - cups white sugar
1 - Red or white Sweet Onion (optional)
Heat sugar & pickle juice in sauce pan over medium high heat until the sugar has completely dissolved and liquid is like a syrup.
Pour syrup over sliced dill & onions, allow to cool to room temperature before placing jar lid on. Refrigerate immediately. Allow to “marinate” at least 1 - 2 weeks in refrigerator before serving. I also added Black Olives to mine. Keeps for Months in refrigerator. Enjoy!
