great first day guys i heard Iain mention me 🤣🤣looks like Switzerland. nice little stumble on your walk by 😁 some good miles guys and i hope Iain gets that pitching sorted for our Swiss adventure. nice vid Kris atb daz
Haha that pitch was terrible I helped him the first couple of nights then he got the hang of it. When he first showed me it was done I literally just put my head in my hands 😂😂
Aah that’s answered by question on the other comment I replied to. How did you find the Highway? The Cumbria way is definitely a good one to do. I do fancy the Anglesey coastal path too at some point.
@@krisgleave did the Highway as it is supposed to be a bit harder than the Dales Way and as I rapidly approach 60 I'm getting thee harder ones in first. We walked the DHW over 9 days so fairly easy walking, especially as I go on guided walking holidays with hotels and luggage transfers - but it was in the June 23 heatwave so unpleasant at times. TBH the only difficult part is the decent off Ingleborough which is technically difficult due to the terrain.
Aah got you. As it was my first long distance hike for a while I just wanted to complete mine and had to finish in 3.5 days as the lad I was with only had that time and only decided to do it 2 days before 😂. Maybe I’ll have to do the high route one day. It’s great isn’t it. And yeah, Ingleborough a steep one as I’ve done that on the Y3P
Saw your posts on Facebook so I was interested in your videos. It did not disappoint. Great stuff - fingers crossed we'll be doing this next summer, but over 7 days, not 4!
Aah brill thanks for that Dan. Definitely don’t need to push it like we did and that sounds like a good pace. I can highly recommend the YHA in Keswick. It’s honestly really nice and right on the trail and on the water. Awesome views and quite a posh one
Kris i kick off in 10 days on the trail , just wondering what the water situation is , did you filter or is fresh water readily available ? Cos if it is ? I'll ditch the filter , Great filming buddy and congratulations 🎉
Good luck Richard. Personally I’d take the filter anyway. You follow the Wharfe for quite a long way so lots of fresh flowing water however I’d always filter it anyway. Also later in the trip it’s whether you trust the source. I think if you have something like a Befree then take it. As it’s a bottle anyway and then can just filter as you go. That’s all I did throughout. Hope the video has given you some excitement to start the walk. I did the Cumbria Way just over a week after this and that video releases next Wednesday. That’s another cracker of a walk
@Kris Gleave great thanks for the reply, I've also done the Cumbria Way, great walk ! Reminded me alot of the west highland way, I've got a Befree so I'll pop it in the pack , cheers buddy
The perfect filter for this trip. Always worth filtering just in case. The WHW is on my list of walks to do this year. Would love to do it some time this month if I can

Did the Dales Highway in June 23 and was wondering what to do next - looks like this might be on the list.
