Nice video series, I walked the path back in 2021 and agree about the Sportsman’s Arms really weird place and the beer on offer was crap, like you only stayed for one. Myself and somebody else stayed at the same campsite in Cowgill, yeah the facilities are more than basic with no drinking water/ramshackle toilets but it’s not great form to intentionally not pay a small farm like that the £5 fee or whatever they charge these days. Good memories.

We pitched that late and left early there was nobody about. We did look in the morning as we were walking past but nobody around. We only pitched on the grass right next to the trail anyway and obviously didn’t use any facilities so no harm it was just one of those things on this one to be honest.
Thanks for the feedback and means a lot as hard to know if they’re too long or short just doing it myself and try to cut where possible but try to make it flow as best as possible
Aah best of luck with it. It’s a great hike honestly. I was thinking about it today as I was driving past the route randomly today and was thinking about it. You just need to decide which variants you’re taking as you have low and high options which give different views in some sections.
Ooh brill, when you planning to start? It’s a great walk and low level too so not too bad. Really nice views along the way and plenty of places to camp too.

The viaduct in Harry Potter is the Glenfinnan in Scotland So you're off trail if you passed that !! LOL. Looking like this might be a future trail. Enjoying the vids

Great video and your right getting to the start is the hardest part, I’m more of a day hiker but this year I’m doing the South Downs way and probably Snowdonia way, the Dales way does look nice. Keep up the good work.

Hi Kris, just subscribed to your channel. Loving your videos and watching them in preparation for my solo Dales Way walk which I am doing next week, hopefully over 5/6 days. Question for you. I normally do long distance walks in the summer in trail running shoes. Comfortable and light but rubbish if wet and cold. I see you did the walk in trail type shoes. Do you think i will be ok in trail runners this time of the year or would boots be better. Cheers Mike.
Hi Mike thanks for that and hope you’re enjoying them and should give you a great idea of what it’s like. I wore adidas terrex freehiker V1, I love them and all I wear for the past couple of years. They’re Gortex so never wet feet. Sure you’ll be fine in those but there were some pretty boggy sections after where we stopped for flapjacks. That section on the way to Whernside is a bit grim but just be careful. I’d wear whatever you’re comfiest in. Best of luck you’ll love it

Loving your videos. I've walked the length of the Wharfe a couple of times but never further on than that. Would you say you need maps for this, or is the signage enough?
It’s worth walking more it’s great. To be honest I’d have a map or GPS as yes there are lots of signposts although lots of parts weren’t too easy to follow as crossing paths

@@krisgleave well we only ever had enough time to go ulv to kes because of work commitments but we did that in 17 hours over 2 and a half days. Stayed at Lowick and langdale. Lovely route though will go back and do it the other way in the future !
@@BooniesPeaks Sounds like a good mission. I ended up doing it in 3 days but the last day was 51km which was tough going. You did the best part though. It’s also nice between Keswick and ½ way to Carlisle.
The stone Circle looks like a Dew Pond, created to capture rain water and dew for livestock, the gaps in the stones are so the livestock drink it sparingly
Seems more and more pubs are now saying no charging these days. I get it to a point but when they are advertising walkers welcome then it's reasonable to expect that these same walkers may want to charge their devices. Even if they charged say a quid I'd be happy to pay that but its just the point blank no that irks me - it's not like we're carrying a washing machine on our backs! The one in Bassenthwaite (already charging Lakes prices for a pint) springs to mind. I've even seen the sockets covered up in some pubs. As an aside I don't think I'd have the balls to pitch that far down and clearly on someones land. Ever get busted? Anyway, keep up the good work.
