    Great video as I too am looking for a simple kit for solar! I have all the parts except for the Lunt 40. What final configuration do you recommend for the Lunt 40 and camera to capture the full sun?

    • @astrobortle5
      @astrobortle5  3 місяці тому +1

      I haven't discovered the perfect configuration yet.. I like my 178MM, but I get the Bayer pattern. I have to work at getting rid of the pattern and share that trick!
      Other than that, laptop, Firecapture, Lunt 40mm, and skywatcher solar quest is what I am using. Be sure to check out CloudyNights to see what others are using! Good luck!

    Nice video Eric. Do you have any issues getting a full disk image? Do you have a post processing video

      If I use the ASIAIR, yes. That device is limited. Never with my laptop. Check out my video Missing the Sun.

    Hey Eric!
    Great video and I really like your content and setup. I have a general question about the video mode being saved to the device? ASIAIR internal storage? And more importantly, how do you get the video output to the computer? Sorry for all the questions but I got the ASIAIR and I am waiting for the Lunt telescope to arrive. Thank you 🙏 in advance.

      The ASIAIR devices have great storage.. I've had no issues getting a full imaging session for the night with memory to spare.
      You can hook up a USB C cable to your computer and easily import those images. There are other options but they are slower.
      Good questions!

    Thank you, this is exactly the setup I was looking for. I have a Sky-Watcher Solar Quest mount and have ordered a ZWO ASIAIR Mini. Were you able to use one of the included power cables from the ASIAIR Mini, to connect to the 12v DC converter on the Solar Quest mount, or did you have to buy a separate special power cable?

    • @astrobortle5
      @astrobortle5  7 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely! You can swap the battery pack out and power the mount through the ASIAIR. The cables from the ASIAIR work. Makes it easy!

    Hi, I just ordered my Solar quest mount in hopes of learning in time how to shoot the upcoming eclipse. I have a PST however I would like to use my STELLARVUE 70 mm along with my ASI 533 MC pro color camera and my ASIAIR mini. Have you any suggestions of how to shoot the total eclipse. Any ideas would be helpful.

    • @astrobortle5
      @astrobortle5  5 місяців тому +1

      Using the ASIAIR mini on this last eclipse, I did a series of short videos over the eclipse, which worked out.
      Im going to experiment with Firecapture soon to see if I can get timed short images for the upcoming eclipse.

    I have the solarmax III. I am looking to take pics too. What do you recommend using to stack?

    • @astrobortle5
      @astrobortle5  8 місяців тому +1

      Lately, I've been using the ASI Studio for all my stacking - night and solar. ASI Studio been doing a fine job. When it finishes, it saves the stacked image as a FITS file and Tiff file.

    Please explain how you do the solar ''lucky imaging" with Asiair. If I take an AVI video how can I view and select the best individual frames then stack them?

    • @astrobortle5
      @astrobortle5  Місяць тому

      Sure thing. Once you have taken your video, you will need to process that video through stacking software like Autostakkert! or ASI Studio ASIVideoStack Use that software to choose ur best images and stack them. Then take the image that software produces and add your final touches.
      Check out my video on how to stack..

    Hi !
    Would you be kind enough to explain to me how to remove the helical focuser and replace it with a FeatherTouch 1575-DS on a Lunt 40 ? Thanks a lot ! Clear sky from France and best regards ! (Sorry for my poor English ...) . Nevertheless ... amazing video !

    • @astrobortle5
      @astrobortle5  Місяць тому +1

      It took some muscle to get the old helical focuser off because Lunt uses some glue on the threads. The video below explains the process.. Good luck!

      @@astrobortle5 Thanks a lot for your answer and the video ! Great ! Will I need to remove any threads on the hélicoidal focuser before and after ... removing the glue on the thread before installing the new focuser ? Clear sky and best regards from France .

    • @astrobortle5
      @astrobortle5  Місяць тому +1

      On mine, the glue stayed on the threads of the old focuser. I didn't have any issues putting on the new one. If the glue gives you issues, you can probably wipe it off with your fingers. Good luck!

    Im looking into imaging the sun with this exact setup. I have no background in astrophotography. Will i need an expensive laptop with this set up? Sorry if this is a silly question.

    • @astrobortle5

      Sweet! This Lunt telescope is something else. The zwo 220MM mini and 290MM mini get the whole sun. I think the B1200 may enable my other Astro cameras get the whole sun too. I'm waiting for Lunt to respond to my emails.
      You can use a laptop if you want. I use the zwo asiair mini and take my photos by using the app on my phone or iPad. It's easier that way and you don't have to drag a laptop outside. Good question! Lunt customer service will be able with more specific questions.
      I think you'll like the solar telescope!
