***** Some of the scarier movies are B movies.Triple A horror movies are usually just pure garbage. They may have good acting and effects but they rely too heavily on jumpscares and cliches. B movies tend to have not as good acting but better plots and scares.
Jumpscares does not equal horror. Something really horrifying leaves an impact on you after the movie is over and leaves you guessing and thinking about it. That is horror, and that is something that is long gone today.

Not an over-amped CG gorefest. Not a jumpscare flop-camera found-footage mess. This is a VERY CREEPY horror film. Amazingly good. A decent number of shock/scares using old-fashioned makeup effects. The original plot shows the house unchanged - with those weird eye-windows. Demonic evil did possess the DeFeo killer and hasn't left the place yet. Eerie atmosphere builds tension up to a pretty good finale. For adults or older teens (no young kids) who like real HORROR flicks. What a pleasure!

ok I can understand how in the 80s, no one really knew about the Amityville haunting, so those movies were good. but come on, its 2015, how do you not know about that house that YOUR moving into.
People know and still move into it. There use to be a funeral home down the street from my house. Everyone know that it use to be a funeral home. Most recently they turned it into apartments, and a lot of people live there because it looks good inside. Some people are just crazy. My sister apartments is built over an old cemetery.

Usagi Felton Yes and us horror movie buffs love it! They always pick wonderful actresses to play the parts. 2005 they casted the gorgeous Chloe Moretz. 2016 they are casting the beautiful redhead Bella Thorne.
Chloe was like 8 in that movie wasn't she? But Ryan Renyolds did a great job, I enjoyed the last remake hopefully they do as well this time.

I've seen the house from the outside several years ago when I was living one town west of Amityville. Looks like any other house in the area (canal behind the house as well as other houses on that block) but only difference was that it didn't have a number on it that I could see. The curtains were all closed too at the time I saw the house. Privacy reasons I would think.

CAMERON BLEEPING MONAGHAN IS AN ACTING GOD okay, considering I'm in awe of his performance with just the trailer, I can't imagine what the movie is like. He was incredible in Gotham, Mercy Street, The Giver and what I've seen of Shameless. H

everyone complained about this movie but in my personal opinion I really like it
Just watched it. I am skeptical of horror movies, and can be quite dismissive, but lately I have just been going into these movies with an open mind. This movie was actually pretty solid. Not amazing, but not bad. It's a pretty creepy movie, especially the brother. A little different plot. I actually liked it.
NO matter how many people may hate horror films nowadays or the fact that Bella Thorne is starring in this film.. I actually still wanna see it
I love horror films and I love Bella Thorne! This is a win-win movie for me!

Horror genre is dying cause no one is trying. As soon as I recognized the windows of the house, I knew it was Amityville. It's either remakes or slapping a bunch of teens in a movie and making the content shallow or dull. It would be better of they did either and/or and gave you decent content, put some older actors in, actors in their mid 30's-40's, or young actors and focuse on a newer deeper Rated R factor. That could fix the genre. But give you some teens and put them in remakes, they aren't earning themselves stars anytime soon. (Example Mama, Conjuring)
