Kobe Bryant NEVER forgot Allen Iverson after this game *AI 41pts (1999)

  • AI scored 41 points on Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal the Lakers and that's a wakeup call for Kobe
    NBA
And AI as a competitor, he drove me to be as obsessive, more obsessive about the game, because I had to figure out how to solve that problem, you know? And I told him -- I saw him here this weekend. I said you don't realize how much you pushed me. And I don't think people nowadays realize how great you were as a player and how big of a problem you were for defenses. Happy for them both.

He wasn't as versatile as Jordan but he didn't need to be when you look at his short comings as far as his size and that's what made him incredible that he was torching dudes at barely 6 feet tall and only 165Ibs. +Saul Hernandez yall still don't understand that the media took that wayyyy outta context. He was saying "You are interviewing me about PRACTICE? Not the game that I love, but PRACTICE?!" Get that right.

we all know they only used an excerpt from that whole interview and it was completely out of context, but its still funny to talk about. The NBA hated A.I thug persona and would do anything to put him in a bad light.

That '99 team was pretty good and they stayed together for awhile. Larry Brown as coach with Snow at the point and Lynch, Hughes, and Ratliff. They had a pretty good defense but could have used another offensive threat. This was the iso era and their offense lived and died with Iverson.

+Miss Melly they banned his dress code and they wanted him to look corporate. MJ said he didn't respect the rules but fuck MJ that's a different story. He said he did it his way and he did! They wanted someone with speed and they got it.

+Steven Tinker (aMOODIEsteve) The meaning behind it was that they had him sitting there in a POST-GAME conference asking him about practices when they don't matter at that point in time because he's playing his butt off.

With action on the court like this, and Chick Hearn doing commentary makes me miss the good days of nba basketball. True by the end of the 90’s rivalries started becoming more individually personal and not team to team, but it was still great to watch.
