The so called “fast” muscles. They’re smaller, but can give more explosive power in a short time. You get those from fightsports and jobs like blacksmithing.

Plus they don't have the same experience using their body. James worked out just for the event, Alex uses it regularly in his craft. They were in the same weight class, but not the same fighter class.
