I worked with Frankie in the early 1970s, at the London Palladium. I was only 19, and green as grass. After the very long panto run we had a big party at the White Elephant restaurant on the Thames, and I got absolutely bladdered. I could hardly stand up. Frankie was very kind and arranged for me to get a taxi to get home. He was a lovely man, but like many comics, complex and oft-times troubled.
it’s so nice to see bruce not in control for once, frankie doesn’t let him get a word in and he actually seems to be enjoying it rather than getting annoyed. u can tell they liked each other😌
Many later comedians learnt their trade from Frankie Howard. His timely delivery and the working of his audience has never been bettered. It was great to see a revival of his show in the last few years he was alive. Legendary talent.
British television of 1987 had Rolf Harris, Jimmy Savile, Gary Glitter, Frank Bough, Jonathan King, John Peel, Stuart Hall hosting family shows. I am glad we dodged those bullets. Rose tinted memories are nice to have.
I was 15 yrs... Right about now when this was on id have no doubt been on my amiga (if not amiga, spectrum or amstrad) didn't watch much TV when had our computers.
Original TX for this was Friday 6th March 1987 - The final episode of Grange Hill to have the original (comic book) opening titles was also first transmitted on this date as well. Pity that Wogan didn't have more holidays off, and let Brucie stand in a bit more.
found myself here looking at Lionel Blair stuff (RIP) ..laugh!? i nearly started.. no, seriously.. laughed here for twelve minutes straight.. thankyou for sharing this 🙂
Classy and classic. Coincidentally, I watched an episode of Richard Osman's House of Games today (Nov 22 2023) and the contestants had to locate the birthplace of Eric Morecambe on a map. One of the 'celebrities' confessed she had never heard of Eric Morecambe. Even the usually placid and non-flustered Osman couldn't disguise his shock. Welcome to old age (only 59 as I write).
Never mind there are some Dopey people out there to busy fawning over celebrities Twits baking a cake in a marquee. Muppets in the jungle. Britain where is the Talent? You can,t Blame them not knowing and not forgetting all the online stuff filling there heads.
You're right, they were polar opposites really, Bruce thrived on 'off the cuff' whereas it terrified Frankie, as Parky said some have a comedy disposition but others it's a carefully honed craft, luckily for the viewer to quote another great "you can't see the join" (and I don't mean hair pieces)
Frankie Howard could’ve been a predecessor to Robin Williams. A very active mind that looked in all directions. He’s forever seeking something, not unlike most comedians yet similar to RW.
70 year old frankie, with that strange brownish hair, that never fitted in with the hair at the sides? Could never get a toupee right! And as for bruce forsyth, a silly patty sitting on his head. He was losing hair in the 60's!
A couple of old men wearing wigs and telling jokes that went out with the ark, I never did like this style of ooooer missus hand waving eye brow raising comedy
12 minutes of pure gold whether you love them or hate them......a dying craft....the prologue
Loved to hate them. lol
Bless them both. RIP Brucie and Frankie. You gave so much laughter to us all .
Two masters of comedy who the likes will never be seen again, Rest in Peace gents 😊🇬🇧
We didn’t realise at the time how good these legends were. We were spoilt with their talent. We don’t have legends like this anymore.
Marvellous. Just loved both these great entertainers. R.I.P. Frankie and Bruce 🙏🏻
I was in the audience to this on a school trip. They did a bit after the show too.
What a wonderful memory..
Timeless comedy gold from two of the most legendary wigs in the business....
2 legends, both now sadly passed but their spirit will entertain us forever. xxx

Trimble and complex how ?
RIP Francis. Still making us laugh after all these years.....
RIP Brucie.
This is so funny. LOL. I loved their relaxed sense of fun during this interview. We will not see their like again. Sadly missed TV legends.
Two great and funny performers. I am 38 yrs old and have fond memories of growing up in the 80s to these two gents.
You were a young child. Did you understand the humour?
Wonderful to see this. They worked so well together. Rest in peace both of them.
Frankie impersonating Bruce.. Magnificent... And the line.. I cant do you, I ain't watched you for years.. Who has..
Classic... Legends.
Not many interviewees would show you their long johns on live TV nowadays! Thanks Brucie, thanks Frankie! RIP
it’s so nice to see bruce not in control for once, frankie doesn’t let him get a word in and he actually seems to be enjoying it rather than getting annoyed. u can tell they liked each other😌
First time I've seen this from 2 of my faves - wish they'd done more together as they had great chemistry :)
Brilliant end line from Frankie. RIP both of them.
Frankie & Bruce , great old school entertainers.

fantastic pairing of two comedy greats - if only it was on dvd!
What a very funny 12 minutes that was!
I wish that there were half as much talent today!
the good old days, god, how i miss them.
These people will be so missed so much better than the crap no talan stuff of today thanks for the fun lads
Frankie Howerd was the greatest standup in the English language. RIP Sir Francis….we are still laughing after all these years. ❤
They were both great entertainers!
Fantastic Frankie what a great man and also Bruce
Two of my favourite people together on stage. What a gem. Higher lower. Oooh this bench is cold this morning. Etc
good harmonies .......awww bless to both
Had the privilege of working with both in my time, they were simply the best.
You really won't see there like again, both of them masters of their craft ,legends.
Amazing to watch 2 real pros with real talent. Unlike the rubbish today.
Many later comedians learnt their trade from Frankie Howard. His timely delivery and the working of his audience has never been bettered. It was great to see a revival of his show in the last few years he was alive. Legendary talent.
I'm so honoured to have lived and experienced these times. People of young age don't realise how absolute crap TV is now. cheers.
British television of 1987 had Rolf Harris, Jimmy Savile, Gary Glitter, Frank Bough, Jonathan King, John Peel, Stuart Hall hosting family shows. I am glad we dodged those bullets. Rose tinted memories are nice to have.
Two English national treasures RIP lads
Wonderful 12 minutes!
Miss them - genuinely funny.
Two of our finest ever entertainers together. I was hoping Brucie would say "didn't he do well?" after their little routine.
You couldn't get two great comedian s in one place these days
I was 15 yrs... Right about now when this was on id have no doubt been on my amiga (if not amiga, spectrum or amstrad) didn't watch much TV when had our computers.
RIP Frankie Howerd OBE (1917-1992)

He gave Forsyth a run for his money.....one of the finest comedians we ever produced.
IT WAS ALL FEAR---FEAR HE WAS ASKED SOMETHING HE COULDN'T ANSWER, OR THEY GOT TOO CLOSE TO HIS PERSONAL LIFE.
@@MrDaiseymay brucie wouldnt have taken any risks
It feels like there's a lot of respect between the two of them
Bruce and Frankie were so great together.
RIP Brucie. We love you. x
2 funny guys😀
found myself here looking at Lionel Blair stuff (RIP) ..laugh!? i nearly started.. no, seriously.. laughed here for twelve minutes straight.. thankyou for sharing this 🙂
Up Pompeii was classic.
What consummate entertainers, at home with themselves and the audience, sparking off each other with wit and verve.
wonderful
What a lovely pair! No, missus! Now look!
I miss Bruce and Frankie 2 of the comedy greats
Awww, bless! :)
i’m back watching this again and “you remember noah let alone carroll levis” “‘ark at him! ‘ark at him!” makes me laugh so much
Looked like they where having fun
two of the greats
In regard to that trophy room, I remember seeing a picture of Brucie with all his trophies, and a picture of him in the middle.
Classy and classic.

You can,t Blame them not knowing and not forgetting all the online stuff filling there heads.
This edition was recorded when Terry would have been on holiday.
Francis was cruising in overdrive whereas Brucie was struggling to shift out of 2nd gear...
Genius
I bet this was so rehearsed, Howard always wanted to have the laughs, watch the Parkinson interviews and see what he says about him
You're right, they were polar opposites really, Bruce thrived on 'off the cuff' whereas it terrified Frankie, as Parky said some have a comedy disposition but others it's a carefully honed craft, luckily for the viewer to quote another great "you can't see the join" (and I don't mean hair pieces)
RIP frankie.
It didn't matter that they used the show's budget on toupe glue, these two were wonderful talents.
A taste of what Frankie might've made of Strictly Come Dancing.
Frankie Howerd could sing well, in harmony.
Frankie Howard could’ve been a predecessor to Robin Williams. A very active mind that looked in all directions. He’s forever seeking something, not unlike most comedians yet similar to RW.
just talent which is fast disappearing never to be seen again there is no where for them to practice, these days,
Galaxy Tab - I expect you much prefer the cheap crude stuff you get nowadays.. From a member of the Ark...
The battle of the syrups.
From the days when comedians were funny.
Fk me, a wig off syrup fest, marvellous!
just read he died..89 years old...(Bruce that is) so all three are no more
I saw Frankie Howerd in Malta sitting down looking the worse for wear in a Casino. In St Paul's Bay Malta
Bruce was no chat show host.
He was asked to guest host for Wogan. He didn't host too many chat shows.
They don't make them like that now
The toupee shop did a good trade for this show.
2 GREAT TALENTS ..Slightly awkward due to both being punchy funny guys. Nevertheless very interesting. Shame they're both gone.
They don't make hair like that anymore.
should of brought a saucer of milk for the two weaves
Wig-on
Two toupees interviewing each other. It's hard to decipher who's camper
Frankie howard was well funny, terrible toupee unfortunely, bruce's syrup is pretty bad as well.
Titter!
Leslie? Slip or what?
Too many cheap wigs in one room .
Let us know when you start telling jokes.....
Toupee or not toupee
Bruce was the perfect example of persistence over talent . He wasnt great at anything ( never saw his golf game though)
Both great performers you dont get that talent now
Bruce no 1 fkn narraccist
Frankie always wore that awful wig
both got rhe rugs on there heads both got no talent
70 year old frankie, with that strange brownish hair, that never fitted in with the hair at the sides? Could never get a toupee right! And as for bruce forsyth, a silly patty sitting on his head. He was losing hair in the 60's!
Dale Baker As much as I loved Wogan he had a hideous wig too!
who cares
Fucking awful.
Stick to Lenry Henry then, now that's awful.
A couple of old men wearing wigs and telling jokes that went out with the ark, I never did like this style of ooooer missus hand waving eye brow raising comedy
+Primetime Pranks Grow up halfwit
Just curious, why did you watch it then? :-)
Why watch it then?
funny enough frankie never did his ooooer missus although the wigs looked good v.
Why the heck did you watch it for then
