When I first introduced my female ferret to my male ferret, it was the cutest thing ever. She loves him!! She would ride on his back and he would let her, she would follow him around and mess around with him and he would just go along with it. Then when I put them up in the cage, he found a spot to sleep and she just walked over to him and started cuddling she was so happy to not be alone
If it wasn’t for watching you and pazuandfriends I would have been way more terrified introducing my ferrets and witnessing there violent play fighting. I have a much better understanding now because of your channel and others thank you so much!
Thank you so much! Me and my girlfriend just got 2 ferrets and we hope they start getting along and playing with each other with your advice, glad we’re not alone thank you 🙏🏽
I'm a ferret owner about to get another. I just found your page and I'm only 9min in and you are fantastic! Thorough, real, educated, well spoken, and very empathetic. I am so thrilled to have found your page
HOW has it already been 4 months?! I swear, time has been robbed from us. One night we all went to sleep and when we woke up the next morning, it was 4 months later. Also, I super love this video. It's going to be an awesome resource for people who decide to add more ferrets to their family.
It's so true! That's why I wanted to make my disclaimer about it so clear and mention it so many times. Ferrets fight, that's just how they are. Thanks so much for all your knowledge and help throughout all of this
Thank you so much for making this video! People really do need to *see* what to expect when introducing ferrets. Recently got my buddy boi a friend and my solo is a Wardy. He doesn’t quite understand social cues. And I wasn’t sure what was a good way to start the introduction despite reading about it. Thank you so much for posting the footage!
Omg thank you so much!! I needed this video. So many introduction videos I find are always the 'lucky' ones. I'm over here with a screaming ferret, frustrated and unsure if I'm doing things the right way or not. Thank you so much for showing the more 'ugly' side of ferret intros lol im barely on week one of trying to introduce a new ferret to one of my two established ones. Already I realized I've been doing some things wrong 😓. Can't wait to implement these methods to help!!
Best of luck! If you're 16+ you should check out my discord server. We have a lot of owners who've been through hard intros and might be able to offer additional advice
I hope the video helps! I know exactly how you feel. When I was having trouble I couldn't find anyone talking about the nastier side of intros, and it made me feel like the odd one out. I watched this for advice and I was anticipating a lot of issues when bringing home my new older male ferret to my small 4 month old girl. They loved each other immediately and I was so relieved 😅 your ferrets are SO cute and seeing them makes me want to get a third lol
So far from watching this video it’s been super helpful, I have a bonded pair since birth more or less also rescues, the other came from a lovely home that had 17 ferrets and very good owner but I’ve been struggling getting my two to get on with the new girl have you got any more tips or ticks to help ?
my ferret gizmo lost his brother suddenly 1 day ago(they were closely bonded for 3 years)so i’m hoping he’ll be able to get along with a new ferret because i don’t want him being alone
I love your videos so much Kenya, they are so informative and have helped me so much!! ❤️ patience really is the key with introducing ferrets, that’s something that I struggled with a little bit.
We're going thru this right now. We felt that my grandferret needed a friend. We've had her alone for 1.5 years alone. Then we adopted Addie. Nala is dominant and has always been fearless. Addie is completely opposite. We've reduce their interactions to 5 mins twice a day. Addie does not want to fight but Nala is aggressive. We are barely going into week two. We've been blanket swapping and started cage swapping. The bathroom is neutral territory. It's painful.
my ferret has been on his own his whole life he was most likely the runt of the family before I rescued him, we are trying to pare him up with another ferret but my ferret is quiet hostile when meeting the new ferret at the rescue centre he made a hiss noise then a scream, we brought home one of the new ferrets blankets to try and get him to get use to the smell but every time he goes in the room with the ferret he goes all slow and starts hissing and I dont know how to stop that?
Now I know to have faith on my ferrets getting along someday. I’ve been doing these steps for a month now and my female established ferrets still dislike my new male ferret and always attack him for no reason. I’ll give them more time.
I believe in you! It's been about a year since I got Elara and Andromeda and they have barely any fights now (normally the "fights" are just Nova screaming because she's mad that Elara took her favourite bed). They play and sleep together all the time now, they're completely different ferrets
I tried every idea I could find for 3 months to get my two ferrets to mix but no joy, then after just having them in a cage next to each other for a few months they suddenly decided that they would be friends. It then only took just over a week before they joined in one cage for snoozing. It was such a relief as trying to allow them both free time apart was hard. Rowen insists with sleeping with Lavender but she prefers to sleep alone but on the whole they have worked it out. She will snooze with him for a bit but only in one hammock, she has another she sleeps alone and Rowen has another one!
Thank you so much for making this video because I have two ferrets that don't get along and it's been months. I haven't seen anything really of ferrets fighting and that it can take such a long time for them to get along. I agree it's super frustrating and I get so discouraged.
I have 2 2 1/2 year old boys and recently adopted another one. Having issues with fighting with my one boy, Jet, and the new fella, Bandit. Problem with the new ferret is that he is a 4 year old runt. He was 1lb 7oz and malnourished. Now, 1lb 12 oz and healthy. He is an awesome little guy and extremely lovable. The problem I am having with the introductions between him and Jet is that Jet is more than 3 times his weight and Bandit is too small to defend himself. I keep trying and different methods but Bandit is just too small. My third ferret, Spike, I have no choice but to keep away from Bandit because he has Wardenberg syndrome and is deaf. Any other ideas?
Should I take my ferret (hob) with me when going to rescue a female (Jill) ferret? They are both from Marshall's farm😢. I ask to know if being neutered makes a difference when introducing ferrets to each other?
First thank you for that golden star 🤣 This video is giving me so much hope. I was feeling so defeated and feeling like my girls would just never get along and accepting that fact. I’m going to try everything you said and be patient. Thank you so so so much! Btw I have a Luna and Nova too!
Best of luck with your girls!! It can be so frustrating and I really hope that eventually they become friends. Feel free to dm me on instagram if you ever need extended help ❤❤❤
Hello! My ferret is a female and almost a year old, we are rescuing a male ferret that is 7 years old. I am praying they get along. Do you have anything what would go against me getting a older ferret to bond with a younger one? I am newer to this, but just a worrywort as well.
I just got a baby Angora ferret, she is 7weeks old but my older ferret gets real adamant on getting to her, it gets to a point where he leaps at me or leaps at objects, any tips?
So I NEED to thank you so much because in all my research no one has ever showed us or even explained what real fighting vs is play fighting is suppose to look like in ferrets⁸ my boyfriend was worried because ferrets are just generally goofy looking in everything they do we were afraid maybe we won't pick up those NOT PLAY signals but I figured like most animals..... we'd KNOW the difference, because just as you showed there was no way that that was playing it was very clearly aggressive. There's almost always a huge difference but then again we've never seen it yet.
What do I do if I’m gone for school, and they can’t be watched? I’m scared that they will seriously hurt each other while I’m gone, and I can’t help them
I just want to thank you so much I watched your video about six times I got a baby ferret two of them and introduce them to my five other ferrets but everybody like them except one of them so I did what you said it finally worked thank you so much.
If your ferrets were once all together as kits, and pairs adopted into the same home a month away from each other, is it better to keep them away for a quarantine or get them back together sooner?
Hi! I know this is super old but I need advice. I have a baby ferret and we’re trying to introduce to our older bonded pair. Our baby ferret looks kinda scared because every time we’ve tried to introduce they violently attack. It seems like our baby is scared
In saying that I have been trying my vasectomised male with the new female and they sniff eachother and lick / clean but then he goes for the back of her neck and I’ve seen that he’s leaving puncture marks on her what should I do in that situation leave them or separate? As there wasn’t any blood pee or poop
THANK YOU!! This video has helped me so much. Question though, one of my ferrets (Noodle) is really small. Like compared to the other one Noodle is like a miniature lil thing and she is a year older than the other. Would you happen to know why? Thanks!!
Hi!! I’m confused on raw feeding. And brynn won’t respond :( so if I feed whole prey would I feed it like heart Monday liver Tuesday or everything in one meal (
So I have a situation I'm not quite sure about. I have a bonded pair of 2 female ferrets and I recently adopted/rescued a male ferret whose siblings all passed away and he required extensive medical care. He hasn't been in contact with other ferrets for almost a month now. And I just got the OK from my vet to start introductions. My baby boy has been very lonely because of this. Because he used to have 4 brothers And so he has become extremely attached to me. I decided to introduce them today and I'm not quite sure how it's going. It doesn't quite seem like my baby boy is trying to fight. In fact, he's been dooking a lot I'm assuming It's because he's just so happy to see other ferrets and to actually be with them. But it's my other girls I'm not too sure about. They seem to try to just be running away from him. And don't really want to actually interact with it. One of my girls did start playing with him for a second. But I think he was just way too excited for her that she decided to try to get away, but he wouldn't let her. And then my other girl appears to not have any interest in him at all. She doesn't try to play with him And it seems like she's making a sound that I've never heard before. But it's definitely not screaming. It sounds similar to duking, but not quite duking And it just kinda seems like she wants nothing to do with him. But at the same time they're not fighting. And some curious? What kind of stage am I in and how should I kind proceed with this with My baby boy just wanted to have friends And is just really happy and my other 2 girls just very pensive.
Hey, I'm sorry to bother but!! Could I do the ppb rule(I think) with a feret that is 3 months and on that is one year old? If not what would you recommend?
I have 2 ferrets and they have a big age gap by about 3 years and the older one bites the top of my younger ferrets head when i try to introduce them so i freak out and separate them into their individual cages. But is it normal for my older ferret to bite and latch onto my younger ferrets head?
So let them fight but if there’s pee, blood and poop remove them? My 2 year old and 9 month fought and I got scared I broke it up, there was no pee, blood or poop, Simalar to ur girls fighting it was the same noises just no pee, blood or poop
okay so.. i understand they fight when they first meet. i have 2 ferrets and the younger one is around 9 weeks old and the other will be 2 this year.. the older one always tries to fight him and i was wondering if that was something i should keep an eye on orrrr
I'm just wondering what if they are dooking while playing "hard" but still poop 🤦♀️ i'm not sure if i should separate or let them continue. Little one pooped when the older one caught her by biting her neck (scruffing). My established male ferret is 5 years old (previously bonded well with another female ferret but passed away last year). And 2 weeks ago, I got another young female ferret which is 3 months old. In the beginning of 2nd week, they start to play well together. But sometimes will end up in a fight with pee/poo. They were going well for the last 2 days even searching for each other when one is sleeping. Thank you in advance!
Dooking can sometimes be an aggressive noise, believe it or not. When I was struggling with my intros, Elara dooked pretty much the whole time. Just continue to abide by PPB
Thank you so much for this video! You’re a life saver! I have some questions if anyone can answer Is it okay to introduce a kit to a 2-3 year old ferret? Do you think their fights would be too dangerous for the kit? Also, is it okay to let the new kit roam in the house on her own? My other ferret has previously roamed here and I’m worried she may feel uncomfortable in his territory.
Out of my new 2 meeting my 3 going well so far . Still seperate cages doing mutual area time . But my one male is constantly on the female and her bonded brother gets mad . What do I do ??
I just got 2 males their both babies one is just extremely small cuz I got him a week after I got my first one my first ones name is mo and my second ones name is bear it’s making me sad cuz mo keeps violently biting bears nose and his neck and bear would start screaming and mo would refuse to let go and I don’t know what to do for mo to get used to bear so this was very helpful
I have a nine-month-old male named Rogelio I have had him for about seven months now and we decided to get him a companion. We bought a two month old female. They are currently living in separate cages. But every day we take them out together and let them hang out in an area Rogelio doesn’t usually go in. So far there hasn’t been any fights between the two but I do see Rogelio being a little aggressive sometimes such as biting her on the back of the neck and sometimes he tries to shake her. We have been doing this for a little over a week now, Taking them out and letting them hang out together and it seems like Rogelio doesn’t do that as often, but he does follow her around and it does seem like sometimes she is trying to get away from him. There has not been any pee poop or blood. I’m wondering if I should move to the next step of letting them hang out in the living room which was his space before he would play in, or maybe she is still too little and we should let her get a little bigger.
If I were in your shoes, I would give it another week or so before moving on. I don't know how long you're letting them hang out with each other, but try to extend it as long as you can (even up to 2-3 hours, provided they have food and water). With an introduction like yours where there doesn't seem to be too many complications, you want to make sure they're comfortable around each other before going onto the next step (because your new girl is running away from him, it leads me to believe she isn't comfortable yet). It's possible that you could move on and it would go great, but it's also possible that you move on and it results in them getting into a big fight which sets you back to square one. And of course this is all just my opinion based on just what you've told me, it's impossible for me to give you 100% foolproof advice without seeing them from your point of view. If you have any issues feel free to shoot me a message on instagram or join my discord server
Hi I'm planning on adopting a pair of ferrets and I have two indoor/outdoor cats. What are some things I can do to prep my house for them for the introduction?
Unfortunately I don't have any experience with ferrets and other species (besides the few brief times Luna met my parent's senior dog before he passed away). Ferrets for Dummies (3rd Edition) has a whole section on cross specie relationships and interactions, so it might be worth picking up a copy! It's a great book in general and I strongly recommend it to new ferret owners
Hi, do you have any social I can contact you on? I recently just adopted 2 older ferrets that are older than my original ferret I’ve always had, the pair I bought are brother and sister, but the sister attacks my ferret a lot and she’s not even a year old yet she’s about 9 months old and the one I bought is about 4 years older. Would I use the same process you are using? If they fight my younger ferret will not fight she will run, and try to hide. Plz help?🥺 wanted to talk 1 on 1 about it.
If they were together at the shelter, no. If not, it really depends on the individual ferrets. I'd recommend talking to the rescue about it since they know the ferrets best.
Ok so I have a 1 year old that is a girl named Coco. I bought a Male yesterday and she took the baby boy ferret and bit onto his neck and would not let it go. She was hanging onto him. Like I had them both off the ground. It scared me so bad. So I'm not sure whT to do..
you just need to go through the proper steps of introductions that I go through in the video. Elara attacked Luna every time I introduced them for almost 2 months but now they're best buddies. Please, please, please make sure you quarantine any new ferrets before introducing them like I mention doing in the video. I recommend just giving my video another few watches because I address violence between ferrets.
I found a ferret in my workshop and it is very friendly. If i can not find the owner i will have to get a second one . Like all animals they need company . Can I use these techniques to introduce them? Or is it much harder to do this?
Same with rats. Every now and then an intro will be like two best friends meeting after a lifetime of never knowing each other. Usually it takes some serious convincing that they will be happy cohabitation. We use the carrier method, with a bit of stress bonding. Taking a group that we are bonding on a weekend trip to my mothers 2 hours away usually does the trick.
Before I knew about the introduction protocol of ferrets, I just sat all my ferrets in a room that night I got them🙃 Thankfully, no one was sick and there were no fights, instead instant playtime. Let this serve as hope for you guys, sometimes it works out quickly! Definitely follow protocol though, it’s very important.
I respect all your information, but these videos are way too long and confusing. Luckily all mine have gotten along pretty quickly and i cant really ever quarantine them
I noticed something strange between my ferrets (both female) while I was introducing them. My new ferret's name is Chai, and my old ferret's name is Peaches (just for easier understanding). I've done the blanket swapping for about two/three weeks now, and both of my girl's just sniff the other ferret's blanket and they also sleep in it. The other day, Chai was even playing with Peaches' blanket and dooking. I introduced them on the floor a few times, and each time Chai was really rough with Peaches, so we had to seperate them (they broke the PPB rule each time). So, I decided that I would go back a step and just let them sniff each other while i hold them, but Peaches shrinks away now, and Chai still seems very aggressive. However, I noticed that each time I did this, I could smell urine. Today, I confirmed that it was Chai who urinated (it was so little just enough to smell it). Do you have any ideas why Chai is the one urinating?
Sometimes going back a step doesn't help and you just have to power through the fighting. When Elara and Lyra were first introduced, they acted very similar to Chai and Peaches. I just had to keep letting them have neutral playtime every day, even though it meant only having about 3-5 minutes of them together before Lyra broke PPB and I had to separate them again. If I were you I would do very short neutral playtimes 1-2 times a day and just let them fight, but separate them as needed. I promise that eventually you'll notice the fighting gets less intense, but it can take weeks or months depending on the ferrets. It just goes back to the consistency and patience thing, which is super frustrating but just how it is sometimes. Best of luck!

Is poofing included in the ppb rule?!
ok that lighting glo up though 👀
Hi!! I’m confused on raw feeding. And brynn won’t respond :( so if I feed whole prey would I feed it like heart Monday liver Tuesday or everything in one meal (
Doesn’t matter my ferrets get their meet blended together and served in a bowl
Is it the same if one of the ferrets is the baby?
What about a dog and ferret because my ferret scruffed my dog and my ferret got in trouble 😢
question when getting a pair of ferrets is it better to get same sex or opposite
Thank you so much for this video! You’re a life saver!
I have some questions if anyone can answer
Is it okay to introduce a kit to a 2-3 year old ferret?
And of course this is all just my opinion based on just what you've told me, it's impossible for me to give you 100% foolproof advice without seeing them from your point of view. wait did you say "out" in a particularly canadian way?? what's the not canadian way to say it?
Plz help?🥺 wanted to talk 1 on 1 about it.

if I get 2 ferrets from the same shelter at once, would I still need to do this?
If they were together at the shelter, no. If not, it really depends on the individual ferrets. I'd recommend talking to the rescue about it since they know the ferrets best.
I get a new one tomrow and now i no how
Ok so I have a 1 year old that is a girl named Coco.
Use these techniques and it will happen
Do they get along yet?
Ya same I was able to get my other two to get along as soon as I got home obviously making sure to follow Ppe
Ppb*
Yayyyy you got monetized!!
I just got two ferrets! I rescued them and they r so happy
Aww that’s awesome
I respect all your information, but these videos are way too long and confusing.
Luckily all mine have gotten along pretty quickly and i cant really ever quarantine them
I forgot about that promise LOL
Best of luck!

your gorgeous =0
I'm a ferret owner about to get another. I just found your page and I'm only 9min in and you are fantastic! Thorough, real, educated, well spoken, and very empathetic. I am so thrilled to have found your page
