I bought this pedal brand new several months ago based on youtube reviews. I began looking at the tc electronic vibraclone, then the danelectro money laundry then finally settled on the Ventura vibe. The mix knob is very crucial. If you hate this pedal on initial use, make sure you check out the full range of the mix knob on all the modes. It makes a huge difference.
I tried it years ago before we did this series. I didn’t get it then and that may be why. I think you made the right choice as it completes well with the others. The momentary switch to ramp the speed is really nice.
Hopefully there will be more to come. I know of one company that should be coming out with one sooner or later. That said, it is getting harder to find ones we haven’t covered. There are still a few.
What’s funny, I used to get upset if a reviewer will only do a mono version of any stereo capable pedal. But then, like I discovered is that placing it into a stereo reverb took care or of my stereo needs. Also, because true spinning stereo swirl in the headphones got me a little sick, (had vertigo in the past).
No mention of whether you're mono or stereo? I had heard that the Ventura's Uni-Vibe setting worked best in mono (no surprise) Maybe the Leslie setting is better in stereo? The Keely Dyno My Roto has a Leslie setting you should try; very 3D even though it's mono only. It also has a great 80s tri-chorus and flanger.
Have y’all looked at the Keeley Monterey? I really liked mine… just didn’t have a lot of use for it in my country gigs and sold it before I went to all worship music. Keep up the good work.
I think they (low and high) are the same speed but counter, where one is at beat one and the other at beat two but the same tempo, if that makes sense.
There's a fixed ratio of rotation speed betwixt the horn and rotor (they're turned by different sized pulleys off the same motor/axle) and it's a little different between the two fixed motor speeds on a real Leslie. In a studio situation, I'd have at least two mics on a Leslie cab, so as to balance the horn against the low rotor; a third mic might be added for stereo at a 90 degree angle to the first horn mic. A quick note on the 'brake' function or lack thereof; a real Leslie and incidentally, the simulation found in some Alesis rack units like the MidiVerb IV has a feature (or bug) where when you hit brake, the horn ends up facing in a random direction. There's such a thing as too much authenticity. Why am I back here, commenting again? I found a shop on Reverb that has a few of these, new, in the box and with the original plastic knob protector and everything. And also, because Digitech is back! No word on whether this pedal will be reissued, as of yet.
It would be cool if they built a version two. Maybe with a separate fast/slow switch. It is a cool pedal. We borrowed this one and I’ve actually considered picking one up even though we have some other great leslie pedals.
@@PJandtheBeard Agreed. I just love this thing, for two main reasons: the unique drive knob in the Leslie setting and the mono Uni-Vibe is a real stunner! There's no light bulb in there and it's definitely digital tech, but they really nailed it. The only disappointment is the ramp up function; it ramps to the highest possible speed, but only as long as you leave your foot on. it'd be ideal, if it ramped up, 'til you take your foot of and stayed there, til you tap again, to go back to the knob setting. But of course then you can't turn it off instantly, so yeah, they need a two-button version.
Ventura is just passable as a Rotary. Line 6M5 is better and the old POD II is the best one that I have... Rotary is always dicey to get right....Just a fixed speed chorus on fast is often about as good really
I didn’t like this pedal when I tried it out many years ago when it first came out. Honestly though, this was one of the last pedals we did in this series and I was surprised by how much I liked it this time around. The leslie setting was much better than I thought. I have an M5 on my board but haven’t checked out the rotary setting yet. I need to spend some time with that pedal. Agreed on the chorus pedal thing, the MXR micro chorus set fast does sounds great.
Hey Guys ! Let me give you another angle on Leslie Pedals for you to Demo.. When I was looking for a Leslie pedal, I also needed to hear them through a keyboard. That’s really the only way to know if the pedal is really good or not. We all discovered ( at least I did )the Leslie sound through Organs , Hammond B3’s , then George Harrison’s amazing tunes ( my favorite Beatle ). If a pedal sounds like a real Leslie through an organ, there’s a 90% chance that it’s great through a guitar. Don’t know if you guys play keys, but you can give it a shot. Learn 4 chords. It’s really not that hard ... You can barrow one or buy a used Yamaha PSR model for under $100... The organ sounds are pretty good on them. I guess you could add the keys version onto your guitar videos and release them as updated. Waddaya think 🤔?????
It would be hard to add that to the existing videos, but I do have a friend that is a great keyboard player with some nice keyboards. He even has one of the new Hammond boards and I think Nord. I would love to take a few of the pedals we have kept from the series over to his house and record some clips. Maybe someday I will be able to make that happen! You are correct though, I fell in love with the leslie sound from the C3 Hammond and Leslie they have at my local blues jam. Some of the players there could really make that thing sing!

I have a Ventura Vibe and love it, especially the drive feature on it.
Definitely one of the better drives included in this type of pedal.
Just when you thought my guys PJ and the Beard ran out of Rotary pedals, they surprised me with this Father’s Day weekend special, thanks guys!
Hopefully there will be more to come. I know of one company that should be coming out with one sooner or later. That said, it is getting harder to find ones we haven’t covered. There are still a few.
Great stuff! Such fun. Thanks guys.
Thanks! Appreciate it.
Upcoming episode on bikes "PJ loves ramps!", gonna be great!
Looking forward to it.
Thanks for the review - very helpful.
Glad it was helpful. I wonder if we will see these on the new market again soon!
7:34 very nice, digging those tones :)
Thanks! Appreciate it
A man named Beard talking about a man named Barber. Couldn't ask for more!
We are hoping to start doing a live stream at some point where we meet with our "Barber" once a month or so...
I have this one and really like the Modern setting. I swear by my Tech 21 Rotochoir for Leslie or Vibratone sounds :)
The tech 21 rotochoir is great! We were surprised by how good that pedal is when we had it.

4:10 :) we were running stereo the whole time.
We did do an episode in this series on the dyno-my-roto. Great pedal. We also did the Keeley Rotosonic which is nice too.

The Monterey is on the list. It should show up at some point.
The Dark Side has a unique Rotary as well
This is great with overdrive petals Amp overdrive And fuzz paddles

That makes sense to me.
Great demo guys!! Does this pedal sound good in mono? Most demos I’ve seen have been stereo set up
I thought it sounded good in mono. I really liked this one.
@@PJandtheBeard yes i agree! I picked one up, great pedal !
I want one
I have almost bought one of reverb a couple times since doing this video. We really don’t need it, but…
I finally got a ventura vibe pedal, its awesome, very happy with it
👍🏻👍🏻

Yea also the graphic on this pedal is really great@@PJandtheBeard
