- As he left for his daily walks, Rev. Maltbie D. Babcock would say "I'm off to see my Father's world!" After his tragic death, his wife published a poem he has written with these words. Today I tell the story, and then take a look at ALL 16 VERSES! This will surely bless you as you consider his powerful words.

LYRICS:
1. This is my Father's world.
On the day of its wondrous birth
The stars of light in phalanx bright
Sang out in Heavenly mirth.
2. This is my Father's world.
E'en yet to my listening ears
All nature sings, and around me rings
The music of the spheres.
3. This is my Father's world.
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas,
His hand the wonders wrought.
4. This is my Father's world.
The birds that their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white.
Declare their Maker's praise.
5. This is my Father's world.
He shines in all that's fair.
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.
6. This is my Father's world.
From His eternal throne,
He watch doth keep when I'm asleep,
And I am not alone.
7. This is my Father's world.
Dreaming, I see His face.
I ope my eyes, and in glad surprise,
Cry, "The Lord is in this place."
8. This is my Father's world.
I walk a desert lone.
In a bush ablaze to my wondering gaze
God makes His glory known.
9. This is my Father's world.
Among the mountains drear,
'Mid rending rocks and earthquake shocks,
The still, small voice I hear.
10. This is my Father's world.
From the shining courts above.
The Beloved One, His only Son,
Came - a pledge of deathless love.
11. This is my Father's world.
Now closer to Heaven bound.
For dear to God is the earth Christ trod,
No place but is holy ground.
12. This is my Father's world!
His love has filled my breast,
I am reconciled, I am His child,
My soul has found His rest.
13. This is my Father's world,
A wanderer I may roam.
Whatever my lot, it matters not,
My heart is still at home
14. This is my Father's world,
O let me ne'er forget
That tho' the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
15. This is my Father's world!
The battle is not done.
Jesus who died shall be satisfied
And earth and Heaven be one
16. This is my Father's world!
Should my heart be ever sad?
The Lord is King - let the Heavens ring!
God reigns - let the earth be glad.

AWESOME THOUGHT THE HEAVENS PRAISE OUR HEAVENLY FATHER'S BEAUTIES I HIS CREATING WONDERS!!.❤😂❤
pWhen I was 4 yrs. old my mother not knowing the Bible stories or anything else about Biblical teaching, told me about our Father's magnificent world/creation and how He had created it just for us. My eyes were opened to the beautiful world around me. I'll never forget how I began to walk around seeing the beauty of the natural world around us. This was my spiritual awaking that has sustained me the rest of my life. I sing this hymn with more vigor than I do any other hymn for that reason.
I should explain that Mom grew up where their church had been closed by the Communists, and so the only instruction in Christianity that she got was from her parents.
What a beautiful story. I love how she told you from her memory. We are so blessed to know God's goodness. God bless you. 🥰
PRAISE OUR HEAVENLY FATHER'S WAYS HE GUIDES US AND WANTS US TO BE WITH HIM FOREVER!!❤😂❤
VERY GREATFUL FOR SUCH BEAUTIFUL SONGS OF ETERNAL LOVE AND HOPE!!❤😂❤
This is my Father’s world
And though life is sometimes grim
God’s man will show a video
About this wondrous old hymn
In 2001, we began going to church in Phoenix. Christ was precious in my young daughter’s hearts 5 and 3. They joined the choir and began singing by heart classic hymns with multiple verses. ❤🙏🏼
is it such a beautiful songs, I have known it for long, I loved singing it while opening my door when leaving for work
I also didn't know this song. I first heard it back in Sept 2000 at the birth of my daighter when my sister gifted me the Praise Baby DVD. This is one of the songs on that. And when my daughter was young, she sang this beautifully along. She is unfortunately not on this path of faith anymore. A mom never seize praying, hoping she will one day soon sing this song again
I grew up singing this song. Thank you
It's a hymn i love.....I always feel so special when i think that this is after all MY FATHER'S world....I love singing this......and yes, "He speaks to me everywhere"....but my favourite lines are...."O let me ne'er forget, that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet"....puts every thing in perspective... .
Thank you....from India.
I needed that today. A great and refreshing reminder that God is on the throne and still in charge. Been feeling sad about America. We are on the fast-track to destruction.
Thanks!
Thank you Laura!
I'm so grateful, from Thailand.

Beautiful
This was a hymn often rendered by the robed choir (aka The English Choir) at my local Baptist Church (in the Cameroon's). I guess back in the day, the mass congregation couldn't muster the skill of doing justice to such a complex, yet power hymn! However, these excellent choristers always offered a thrilling rendition of this song on special events such as: Fathers Day, Child Dedications, and Baptisms. Listening to it gave me goosepimples back then, and even now!
Pastor Luke: Your notes on the piano today, are simply an act of genius... queuing so seamlessly the melody and message of this beautiful hymn onto every attentive heart...
I came to know Jesus as my Savior at a young age. I was being convicted by sermons, things in my life and this Hymn in particular after hearing it presented as a solo one Sunday night. That night I couldn't get the song out of my head. As I was in bed, looking out my window I asked Jesus to save my soul. Since that time I have waxed and waned in closeness to God but never denied Him. As my days grow shorter here on my Father's world I still think of, and sing to myself this Hymn often striving to grow closer and learn more about his wonderful creations.
Remember singing at summer camp, and in church. I am greatly moved by this song.❤
Thank you for brining thise tresires
Yes, we sang this in my church when I was a little girl. It is one of my favorites.
sang it in Sunday School
Nicely sung. I first heard this sung by George Beverly Shea. 🤍
I loved this! thank you for posting!
Thank u Luke.. ur voice is so soothing ...well explained..blessed
I love these videos. Thank you for making them.
"In rustling grass I hear Him pass.....). Magnificent words.
We sang this in Vacation Bible School for years
I sang this song as a child at Bible camp back in the 60s. Such a great song. Thank you for the review.
I used to sing this with others at Bible Camp back in the 60s as well. I can still see the trees flanked on either side of the meadow we ran through. Truly a natural cathedral.
I do like this hymn😊 You can use it another year for Ascension Day!
I went to a Quaker (Friends) school between kindergarten and second grade. I remember learning this hymn in music class in first grade (not all the verses, obviously!). I have always loved this hymn and still enjoy singing it as part of my personal devotions.
I grew up singing this hymn in church where my grandmother played the piano. My elderly mother will often text me in the mornings with “this is my Fathers world.” It’s very special to me. Very comforting.
This was one of our favourite Bible summer camp songs and we would run through the meadows singing this. Fond memories…thanks for bringing this to our attention,
This is one of my all-time time favorite hymns. The lyrics are so powerful. It makes me feel as if I've been at a complete worship service. My mom also loved this song, and it has become even more special to me since she's passed. I love all of your videos, Luke. Keep being a light. ☀️❤
Amen. Hallelujah.
My favourest hymn! Cant wait!
Yes, it's richer when considering the song in it scope. So oft😅en we carve up a song without considering the harm it may do to the song's message. I don't remember where I first heard this song but it was a very long time ago. I quite like the few verses in our song book. Thanks for sharing the entire hymn.
I love your playing. U sang this a little different from how I know it but very beautiful. Thank u ❤
I’ve loved this hymn for 60 years.
This hymn always brings back fond memories of singing it over numerous times in junior high chorus, while the instructor listened closely to each of us to determine what part we should sing. That was when I grew to love and appreciate this beautiful hymn!
My mum. For all the trauma in her and the family somehow this song she brought forth in her lifetime this song and my soul attached to it as a promise of hope...I was always a nature's girl hearing those sermons in stones (and not a crazy evangle). This morning I sang the first few lines...they had not heard of it. This song would do well resurrected at a time our planet is calling for our assistance.
Sang this often as a chorister at St George’s Hyderabad, India in the late 60s and early 70s. Thank you.
Have heard the song, I can't remember whether we ever sang this in church. How wonderful that we can always remember that; This is my Father's world. When I look at the birds singing and flying around I know that this is my Father's world. God bless you for sharing such beautiful hymns with us.
This great & Beautiful song,we sang often in church, since childhood, but never did grasp the real meaning of its words,- still so powerful,Giving the Father, all the Glory,
Praise be to Him,
Godbless
Since I first heard this hymn in a CD I Loved it and very powerful. I like to sing it every Sabbath evening and morning and at early 3am
I think I learned this in public elemenary school; Believe it or not
Such a beautiful and comforting one! Thanks Luke.
Thank you Luke , I haven’t heard this hymn at all . xx🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💞
Love your ending. I agree,beautiful!!
It's completely new to me.
Thanks!
So grateful for this, thank you!
Thank you for the story behind this beautiful old hymn. I am 70 years old and remember it being sung in church since I was a young child. What comfort and joy it is to my heart to know that Jesus is ruling over all, that every square inch is His!!
We sang this song when we were children at Sunday School in the 60's. Both Chinese and English..... How blessed we are to our Heavenly Father and also my earthly father who passed away 34 years ago.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful hymns.
I am 73 years old and well remember virtually all of these old hymns from my childhood that you have been sharing . Remembrances of Church camps and church services in the 1950’s and 60’s.
It saddens me that these songs are largely no longer sung as newer contemporary devotion songs have replaced hymn books for projection technology. Most of the newer hymns
Just don’t bring me the same emotion and edification as those old hymns.
I especially enjoy your delving into the writers stories of who wrote the hymns.
Your work is a soothing balm to me.
Thank you.
As a young woman at a girls camp and we sang it at night around the campfire before turning into our tents
Thank you for the education 😊
The Lord told me to listen to it because much evil is a foot here in America. All they think they can do against us it is dust beneath My Father's feet. They will return back to the earth but we will rise up to be in My Father's Kingdom for all eternity.
Brant Adams a composer who wrote instrumental music of worship combines these two hymns. This is my Father's World/He's got the whole world in his hands.
Sang this song in Sunday School. Was a great inspiration to open up your eyes and see God in everything!
Thank you. I grew up singing this hymn in the United Church of Christ and it has always remained my favorite. I believe it spoke to me because though I often question our existence and purpose, I always feel closest to our creator and at peace in the beauty and magnificence of nature. It’s comforting. Enjoyed learning the origin of this special hymn.
I learned this hymn for children's choir when I was in first grade--well, the familiar stanzas of it anyway. It's still one of my favorites nearly 60 years later, and speaks hope to the condition of our world today. Love the tune too. I hope to have this sung (eventually) at my funeral, if Jesus has not come back by then!
Beautiful worship. I learned this hymn a few decades ago and love it. Although we live in an unstable world, God does not change, and that is a comforting thought. We can always depend on our Great and Faithful God. Amen.
I learned this beautiful hymn in children’s church and loved it. We sang verses 2, 3, 5, 14, 15, 16. I often hum or sing it as go through my day. Thank you!
We sang this song in church a couple of weeks ago. It is probably not sung in churches today in Australia as much as it used to be but we still sing it from time to time & it often comes to my mind when looking out at the world around me. (bush)
Amen 🙏 you are a talented man of YaHUShA
One of my very favorites. Grew up singing this as a child in a tiny country Methodist church.
Thanks Mom for taking us to church.
Good morning Luke, what a beautiful poem/hymn....never sung this ever!
But Oh how I have loved listening to you go thru verse for verse. These are truly great words of faith and hope.
Thank you Luke, God bless you.
That was great. I finally got to sing the whole thing. Made me smile too.
I enjoy your site and impart it into my Sabbath Saturday worship and praise to God. This song is so imperative at this time given what we all are experiencing in America and the world. What gracious reminder, This is MY FATHER'S WORLD. God bless you for all you do. I hope you don't mind I am sharing your site on Twitter every Sabbath Saturday. God's love and blessings to you always. Amen.
It's one of my favorites, though you're right, seldom sung in church. I especially like the verse that begins "This is my Father's world, O let me ne'er forget..." Thanks for all 16 verses, I had never seen most of them before! Mirth? Why not? God laughs with me sometimes...
Another note, my favorite presentation of this is in a medley I suppose.
Selah: For the Beauty of the Earth/This is My Father's World...a powerful presentation
Wow. I just sand this song Sunday,at church. I jas no clue about the rest of the verses! The verses I had it reminded me of The Lord's Sovereignty. Essential to remember in the forefront of my mind.
I absolutely love this wonderful hymn. The recording by Glad does great credit to it. You'll find it on UA-cam it this might be of interest.
Thank you Pastor Luke! Though the Heavens Shake with mega quakes: What have I to fear? Awake or asleep in slumber deep, my Father's World is Here!
Many of the hymns you have played have long been firm favourites of mine. This one I am unfamiliar with, I have a vague memory of hearing it once years ago. Thank you for playing all the verses.
The first time I heard this hymn was on a Mennonite church CD. I love this hymn.
I can't remember singing this song in church either
Thank you! This is my favorite hymn since a child. I find great hope in it and sing it often -especially the third verse. God is never shaking on His Throne at what’s happening in His World. He’s seeing His Plan being fulfilled since the foundation of the world. This is my faith - in the character of God.
The 3rd verse as in my EUB hymnal as I learned it is what I mean - “He is the Ruler yet!”
❤
This story is so touching and this reminded me of my childhood memories. My father died at 33 years old. Thank you for sharing brother.
The comment he said about walking fits me just right! I love walking and seeing nature about me. Indeed, "This is My Father's World!" Thank you for this uplifting knowledge. ❤DJ
Thank you! Amen..true words for all. I remember singing this, I think with my grandmother. Blessings
Thank you, thank you Luke for picking up this hymn. My favourite hymn. Oh I cannot wait to see my Lord in heaven.
Thank you Luke. I will definitely be checking out the new series!
Thank you from North Carolina, USA!
Found this hymn recently. Thank you for the history of the hymn
We sing this at church often.
