low key try using the saturator on the 808s, choose medium curve, drive +3db / output -3db, slap the eq on after the saturator, cut the low freqs around 20-30 hz. its gonna make the the low end on the 808 pop out on any phone

the reason placing audio clips directly on the track sounds better is because it's louder. writing in midi drums is usually quieter because of the velocity.

But you can still boost the velocity

Drum racks are super helpful when making beats! You won't have to muck around with replacing midi data with audio samples, you can just chuck the samples in and edit them how you please, and them draw them up in the midi editor. It does both jobs in one. Hopefully this helps :)

@@rcbulletlegend you're right, it's basically still midi since the volume of the samples are lowered when you insert them into a midi editor

The reason why dragging audio files into the session sounds better is because dragging the audio will automatically set the level at 0db while dragging it into a drum rack will reduce its level but can be put back up by adjusting the velocity and since ableton stock sampler or simpler always have their levels at -12db which isn’t accurate cause if you bust it back to 0db it’s going to clip but just remember that dragging in the samples will always sound naturally louder and better

So Hip Hop Beats = Trap beats nowadays?...
No offense but if you just listen to it and tune everything how you think it has to be tuned you're a beast but HOW is this a How to?
How can you do this all by instinct? How you know what to change that it'll sound better?
I don't know how to level every instrument so that it sounds the best nor do I know how and what instruments to pan.
You really don't have any established method what instruments you pan or how to level them?

you just do it and it sounds good, that's awesome

I put hip hop because some of these tips can be applied to many different types of rap. And yeah honestly man like I said in the video this is just me showing how I mix my stuff. Not necessarily the right way but it's been working for me and the best way to build that sort of ear or "instinct" is just by listening to music that you think sounds good and just start paying attention to the mix and where the instruments are. After a while you'll be able to just figure things out by ear.
