Seeing that you're only using 5 tracks makes me doubt all my beat making process :D

Hi Malo and thanks for your contents! Just a question about AIAIAI and mpc headphone out…mine sound too high and i have to reduce volume by the rotary gain, and using jbl104 monitors the master volume became too low instead. There is a solution to level both volume independently?

  • @theareaofgraffitiwild8529

Could you tell me if you make a gain structure for each sound or just go directly to a mix in the DAW mixer because the first step I do is put each sound at minus 18 db and from there I go to mix in the mixer

  • @veracityhiphop

Dope work, soaking all the info I can find after coming off a long hiatus. I will add that over mixing is not the best thing to do anyways since there needs to be headroom for the vocal artists. Then the full mix and master should be handled by engineers that focus primarily in that section of our field. (Not saying you or anyone else can’t be multi talented and be a mixing/mastering engineer yourself!)
The main goal should always be proper sound selection and have everything complement each other. It’s one of my major issues with beat leasing as a lot of them master their beats for loudness to entice people to purchase. Then they record and can’t have their vocals sit well because no headroom or tweaking of individual frequencies is given. Very frustrating to see.
Thanks for the no nonsense vid on mixing broski. Wish you much success

This is deep, I’m so glad you wrote this in the comments and you’re absolutely right I’ve always told a lot of my clients when I used to mix music to always hire a mastering engineer that is dedicated to that art but a lot of people didn’t have that type of budget so I ended up mastering for them. Thank you so much for taking the time insurance this valuable input.

"Stems" are not the same as "Tracks".
STEMS are 2-Track Mixes of group elements.
TRACKS are the individual MULTI-TRACKS of your session.

I enjoy and appreciate what you do but there are some methods you’ve mentioned that I amongst many others would disagree with and that is not panning your drum elements . For example : in this very video you’re attempting to make the kick the most prominent which is exactly what you want to do however, one of The best ways to achieve that is by panning other elements and it will naturally centralize the kick . It’s not necessarily about volume and more about pockets / eq etc. Just a friendly tip .With that being said , there are also NO RULES especially in a creative space so I would recommend others to experiment but there are definitely tricks /tips to achieving specific desired effects . Thank you again for the content .
