It’s true that I first made a version of it - the recipe kindly given to me by Caroline Stearns, my technical guru in the kitchen - when I was giving a supper for a vegan friend, but I now make this as my chocolate cake of choice, and I don’t even need to explain it’s vegan. Is it just me who watches nigella cooking for relaxation or is there anyone else too?

I watch her for relaxation and also to learn many of her recipes.
She is sublime and so is the music, the kitchen, the dishware and the cookware.
whether I’m working on one of our cars or cooking or doing house chores or yardwork, I listen to her in the background so often just for the calming, good-natured, wholesome, loving assurance that her voice gives.

This is my first Nigella recipe that I tried out and OMG it was the most deliciously moist and soft chocolate cake I've ever made. I am lactose intolerant so no dairy was good option and loved every bite of this gorgeous cake. I did have Icing leftovers as I am not into it. You should try this recipe, its simple and delicious!

Vishakha Bhela the second stage of the recipe you need hot to boiling water to melt the coconut oil.

Made this the other day.
I had made a wee bit more icing so I could put icing in between the layers and cover the top and the side as well.
I decorated the cake with homemade mixed nut praline pieces.

Made it as a birthday cake. Turned out perfect. Everybody loved it. Love you Nigella for the perfect chocolate cake. Just follow the recipe. Chocolate Ganache is little more than what is called for. You should make 2/3 of the said amount. Garnishing is simply stunning.

I tried this yesterday to take to friends for dinner. The recipe works perfectly and the cake is delicious! Very moist and rich and great for a desert cake :)

Very very rich and super moist and more pudding than cake but no, its not overly sweet, just very chocolatey. Made it for friends today for afternoon tea and they struggled as they said it would suit having after dinner with cream. As a greedy vegan who loves chocolate and cake i LOVED it and you'd never ever know it was vegan! Thank you Nigella
I've been making this recipe for over 3 years.. it's always been favoured by so many people! Then I lost the recipe and couldn't find it on UA-cam anymore. I just found it again and I'm so glad 😍😍 will make it this Friday

never thought i'd see nigella turning her back on butter and eggs, but i must say that if this cake wasn't delicious, probably she wouldn't make it. plus, it looks amazing with the pink and green bits on top.
She made it at the request of a vegan friend.
I made this today for a birthday. Everyone LOVED it, kids and grown-ups alike. I omitted the pistachios (one guest had a nut allergy) and substituted with coconut flakes, which worked amazing. Incredible cake!

I made it and it turned out great. Mine didnt have a coconuty flavour, so if you dont like coconut I dont think it should be a problem. Very dark and sumptuous, great for cocoa lovers.

My lacto vegetarian grandma made this when we were growing up. It's called Crazy Cake and you can technically put the dry mixed ingredients in the pan and then add three wells and pour the liquid in them. Then stir and pop in the oven. Just a way to not dirty more dishes. 💕

I made this for New Year's eve, adorned it with almonds and pomegranate seeds and it is indeed a treat, moreover sooo easy to make! I would even argue that the icing was too chocolatey (now here's the phrase I thought I would never say) so if you don't have enough of chocolate bars, just use some icing sugar/marple syrup with coconut oil and cocoa powder and it will be as good as needed :)

Coconut oil in cake? Won't it taste funny? Can I use sesame oil and normal butter?
DR you can’t taste the coconut oil whatsoever, I would think that any other neutral oil would work okay. But the sesame oil may add another type of more savoury flavour so I’m not too sure

I watch Nigella's show to relax and feel good about the world. There is such a positive energy about her presence. Unlike her nutters contemporaries, Jamie and Gordon.
How is it possible that she has gotten even more beautiful ? I adore her and would watch her boil water and talk about new fences 🤷🏻♀️. She is an amazingly resilient woman in my opinion. I wish her nothing but happiness.

It reminds me of a family recipe I have called "wacky cake". It's called that because it uses vinegar to react with the bicarb. You end up with quite a fudgey cake.

I tried this cake and I loved it. however, I would suggest you to use vegetable oil instead of coconut oil if you don't really like coconut flavour.

I really want to make this one - I prefer chocolate cakes that taste a bit more on the grown-up side (ie with a dark bitterness rather than kids party sickly-sweetness) and I've made 3 of hers so far and really enjoyed them! Just a case of getting hold of coconut butter (easily online no doubt.)

probably one of the first vegan recipes id actually make myself because 1: it doesnt use hard to find or expensive ingredients nor does it use many products derived from chemicals; and 2: the vast majority of vegan baking i have seen or experienced has been either very very dry or really bland but THAT CAKE looks like the most chocolatey thing i have ever seen...
Not only does this cake seem lovely, it's also vegan apparently 🎉 Only Nigella can make a simple no layer, no fuss chocolate cake sound divine ❤️
