You can see the "Matt' genes coming through here; the conception of the build in Rudy's mind, and then execution with confidence and clarity, plus the additional skills of Zack (what an asset he's become), the approval of Higgins and the occasional incursion of the quiet and delightful Janelle. If the build competition has a 'whole team package' prize, RAD should get it! As for the name of the build, how about The Maxi-Mini???
Rudy , I was skeptical of the car choice till I saw the direction this rig went ! This has turned out to be the most interesting rig in the challenge..bunch of creative fab work with no fluff..keep it up!
I'm not a off-roader & don't need onX I did vote while open voting was allowed & i'm still following each build ! I think yours is the most interesting of all !
WOW! ... I am impressed with both your engineering and fabrication on the steering and suspension ... I have watched all your builds since you worked on both the banana & moorvair in your dads shop and as far as I'm concerned this tops them all. Fantastic job man.
I’m really enjoying all the coverage on the fabrication. I don’t know squat about off road suspension, but watching you on the cooper project I’m getting educated.
Love the attention to detail in the videos when it comes to building out projects. I hate when dudes on a build series say what they’re going to do then it cuts to the finished project. Amazing work.
What an amazing project to watch come to life! So looking forward to the rest of your very creative build. It will look fabulous climbing up the trails! Thank you for letting us tag along.
This thing is going to be SO good. Small, tall, probably 0 degrees approach and departure angles. Only place you might get caught out is break over, but who knows.
@JF-lt5zc just Google On-x off road build challenge. You have to create an account but you can do a free one or if you want many of the people involved have a code for 20-30% off
Wow! That is a lot of challenging engineering and really interesting to observe as y’all work out solutions. 👍 It’s easy to see, Zac is the most valuable tool outside of the CAD software. 😉 Someone else suggested a vehicle name from the Flintstones cartoon, which is cute. I personally always DINO was the smartest of all the Flintstone cartoon characters. 😁
Coming along great guys. I had reservations about chopping the Cooper, but seeing now that you are actually engineering a fully custom rig that will be a beast makes me so stoked about it. This is no body swap trinket. I love it!
Third times the charm is what I've usually found for welding a nut to a broken bolt too. It seems that three heat cycles and more melty melt is what helps.
Being able to fab up a suspension from scratch is fantastic. Waiting patiently for the next video and then, the completed vehicle. I'm still wondering if the diesel has enough guts to push this Mini monster to the limits, but it will be a cool machine regardless.
Thank you Zach! You never throw away bubble wrap without popping it!😀 Would like to have seen a tire rolled across it for the machine gun sound but that’s ok! 🤣👍👍 This build looks awesome!
The mock up you had set up in the very beginning of the video, really made me want you to design an oversized atv-like rear end. I think it'd be wild to see a huge banshee like swing arm and some big fat shocks. I don't think I've ever seen a road vehicle set up like that. But, I'm excited for this build. I think it's gonna be a "rad" machine :)
This is fascinating, even though I don't know what half the stuff you are talking about is or why you are doing what you are doing. Came here from MORR. (I love the puppy.)
I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the design but I'm not a fabricator and I suck at math LOL I have total faith you'll work it out and it will be epic and way more intricate than any of the other builds going on.
Love the build, you are a pretty smart person to see the design in your head and then bring it to reality is something else! This is a great episode, liking the length of the video and seeing how it is all coming together is amazing. Your build is top of the list, you are building a rig like no other, awesome job and keep up the fantastic videos. Thanks for sharing!
@@tiredagain6722 What's left of the body, is nothing but a 'tub', sitting on top of a custom built frame. It could be made of plywood and it would still hold up.
Really enjoyed this video one of your best. Very innovative. Great explanations of the processes. Can't wait to see the finished build. And did anyone else notice the Higgins glove theft at around 1702-1715?
Rudy (and Zach), thanks so much for the break down of the steering you are using. I found that to be really informative. This build is really cool, and Rudy's passion for it shines thru. Now, i know this is an off-road build, but to me it just Screams NITROUS! Please tell me we are adding nitrous to this baby!
I have to say that I have watched everything that you have made starting from the beginning of your dad's channel and this is truly the best of them all. Keep up the great work!!!
Rudy great job so far on your mini Cooper. My suggestion about your designs is that if you can Patton your fabrication desings, you should Patton your designs because you're coming up with some great ideas on the Cooper and your brother truck. You're killing it 👏. Zach is going great with his work as well. Keep up your great work and videos.
"Super Duper Mini Cooper"! (SDMC).... Well, I tried. Maybe something better will come up in my mind or yours later. Amazing skills there, guys! As someone once said, "Anything the mind can imagine, man can build."
Stunning build. Love your appreciation for the OM617T. A great engine for this build. And something different from the usual, kinda boring Cummins and LS swaps one usually sees in the US. Your engineering is top notch. I guess, none of your competitors is coming up with such sophisticated solutions. Thumbs up. Cheers from Germany
Your Passion and Skill shows Rudy.. Your not scared at all with this ambitious project and your quiet Confidence in your ability vs vision is fabulous to watch.. Rudy you guys are doing a fantastic job on this Mini Overlander ,it's really looking good. I can't wait to see it done. Keep up the great work and God Bless you guys and your families.

You guys got my vote ! My wife is on her 3rd mini cooper and we had a pup named Cooper ( Boston terrier ) He passed last year at 16 1/2 years old 😢 We currently have 2 other Boston terriers ( Tia & Tucker) and a mean little pug Gomez 😂 Good luck and keep building!
Great build! Awesome entertainment! ❤ I dreamed of putting atv tires on my 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit and stronger springs to jack it up. This build is light years ahead of that and totally inspiring. 😂
Soo glad to see this. I know , right away, if , I’ll buy in conceptually. I’ve loved the country man, idea, while I rocked 2 diff xj’s. Your build is fulfilling. I like the steering you came up with, i just hope you plan on beefing up that triangle link on the axle! A single ¼" plate won't hold up to the stresses those big tires off road will put on it!
Hey Rudy. @17:01 of the video, your dog has a glove in it's mouth. And @ 17:12 we see the dog running out of the shop. Then @ 17:34 we see your dog coming back in the shop without the glove. Did you ever get it back? Or are you still looking? 🤣🤣🤣! Cool pooch. Can't wait to see how the project turns out.👍
Not noticed before but Janelle has the most lovely soft voice, an absolute pleasure to listen too. a good long video this time, much more better IMHO, jobs going well too.
Besides having excellent fabrication skills, you have great screen presence with your explanation of the process. Just an old gal in Palm Springs who enjoys your videos!
The mini coupe is shaping up to be an awesome vehicle on and off road. As for the name .. I'm thinking "Mad Rax" or "RAD Max". absolutely a mad max/RAD combination. good job guys. I wish you good luck with the rest of the build.
Gotta give it to ya man your creativity and willingness to to dive into the deep end of the un known problem pool is impressive keep it man your really stepping up your game
Gotta hand it to you Rudy, your fabrication skills are off the charts. You just keep getting better and better.
Perfectly stated!
The build is looking great and yes Janelle does make a beautiful counter-balance. She also has a good sense of humor. Keep up the good work folks.

Some nifty geometry and fabrication. Plus beefy and durable, yet maintainable. Hats off.
