    Just picked mine up, I got the basic model 2020. Its a lovely family car to drive. It roomy and loads of pockets for the kids to put their bits and pieces in. The brake it a pull up push down which is easy to use. Easy on the fuel and a pleasure to drive. Enjoy

    Their diesel cars are anything but quiet. I have owned the new Qashqai for one year now, it's the popular 1.5 diesel engine. It is the most noise producing engine I have ever driven - in five years of motoring. It sounds so agricultural in all revs (both high end and low end) and very very clattery around town, sounding like an old bus! And the wind-whistle is horrendous. I agree it has a very classy interior, loads of space, very practical, feels safe on the road and looks amazing. At motorway speeds it's a brilliant cruiser and very economical. But alas I think the hype around this vehicle cannot be met in real world situations. And after a year of ownership (from new showroom delivery) and driven sensibly and well looked after, I feel qualified to share a more balanced view :-) Also the car has had MANY electrical failures and has been into the dealerships for safety repairs on average once every two months for the year I've owned it. And Nissan Customer Service is shocking at best. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic car. But like many others, it's got it's flaws. And the awful engine noise for me was a deal breaker. I'm selling it on after a year and getting something else.

      Just driven it with the 1.5dci. It drives suprisingly well on the german autobahn. I also drove it for a longer period above 100mph . There is not much wind wistle.
      I don't know what your noise standards are based on (Audi A8??), but what do you expect from a four cylinder diesel car with a high body? I think the noise level is way above class standard (if you ignore slight rattle at running idle).
      The only really annoying thing I noticed about the enigne is if you try to drive it up on a stee climb in first gear. The turbo lag makes it almost impossible to go slowly.

    • @johStephan
      @johStephan 9 років тому

      ZaferSama I also drove the 1.5 megane (coupe) with the same engine. The biggest "problem" there is the turbo lag, but you get used to it! My point is just that the engine is not noisy as such in terms of dB when you are driving along, you don't really hear it unless you become obsessed with it and listen to every combustion. I agree that the noise it actually produces is somewhat unhealthy and agricultural, especially at idle. But which 4 cylinder diesel sounds good? I don't know of any ;)?

    • @Umair166
      @Umair166 9 років тому +1

      +Johannes Stephan What lol. I have a 1.5 diesel 15 plate N-TEC+ Qashqai, and it's honestly pretty quiet lol. I don't know how people think it's actually quite loud. I've sat in BMW diesel engines and all other cars, and this car is actually quite quiet. It is slightly noisy, but once you get the car moving (10-15+mph), the road noise overtakes the engine noise. In all my time of driving this, I haven't noticed hardly any noise difference between this and my brand new Honda Civic I owned for 3 years, 2012 model (1.4 Petrol), which was actually one of the most quietest cars.

    I own a 2010 model Qashqai, and if i'm honest the only reason that you would opt for this new shape is if you wanted a 2014 plate car because the previous generation Qash is just superb!

  • @jswindail
    @jswindail 10 років тому +2

    What you might forget is that the Nissan Qashqai started the now generic
    range of the crossover style and every other manufacturer copied.
    I'm on my second Qashqai 2.0 litre petrol and I love it. Faults and all.
    I tried all the others and none of them delivered on as many criteria.
    So I have a +2.

    Bought this car not too long ago and its fab.
    Looks good and had one of the best climate controls, heats up toasty warm real quick. The 12 seconds for 0 to 60? Who was driving? Ours does it much quicker.
    The 1.5 diesel can feel slushy in 1st gear and you never quite get the right bite into second, bit it's a small glitch. The rest of the car is great and theres a diving console at the front, so if you have one of those mates whose legs always cross the gear stick - that doesn't happen here.

    My first Qashqai. Very pleased and impressed. The Tekna model is well equipped and the envy of some other motorists. Ok the large wheels can make the ride rather rough sometimes but part of this could be our pothole roads. Review very good except for the annoying sub titles.

    I've driven the 1.5l diesel Qashqai and I found the steering was lacking completely in feel and I was sure that Carbuyer would moan about that but to my surprise was not!? The car sadly doesn't soak up small bumps and imperfections in the road that you would think after seeing this review, and the brakes have no feel either. Well, we all have own taste, but mine is completely mine, and surely not bought by someone (not that I claim that to be the case in this review because this is no Ford, is it? ;) ). :)
    Especially when comparing to moans about Citroens and lack of feel (they *do* have very good feel nowadays!), got me wondering...

    Our model 2014 Qashqai 1.6 dci Tekna from 2017 is still going to this day, with almost a quarter of a million kilometers (248 thousand) on the road and no major repairs.

    I like the exterior design of it, very good and dynamic for an SUV and it does not look heavy or like it´s design was taken from another DNA line and then pushed into being an SUV - That i find is the problem with many SUV´s especially the some of the upper market brands. Good Review ;)

      Roger Bingham They still do not own them. Its an ALLIANCE. Nissan is not a subsidiary of Renault. The Alliance was *NOT AN ACQUISITION OR MERGER.* I mean, jesus christ on a bicycle, it even says on Renault's own website that its a Cross-Shareholding agreement!

    I'll raise a debate about diesel cars on the particle filter for those who essentially leads into town. What to do when said filter is not a regeneration or cleaning and clogs up the system, the car chokes and develops not have to go to the Dealer to change the filter and pay the very expensive replacement.
    My friends with this I mean that whoever leads conpensa few Miles did not have diesel car, it is advisable to opt for petrol. Thank you.

    Annoying how car journalist say so many different models "created the crossover class/segment" with a straight face - but I'm sure he fully knows that the CRV and RAV 4 and Kia Sportage had already been around for well over a decade. CRV was already in it's THIRD GENERATION by the time Quasqai was introduced. Those others are bigger cars, but they are 100% crossovers - if it sells more of the front wheel drive versions than four wheel drive versions and uses a passenger car platform, IT'S A CROSSOVER! After that we can talk about compact crossovers, three row crossovers, premium crossovers etc - but NO THIS NISSAN DID NOT CREATE THE CROSSOVER CLASS. Even if we disqualify CRV size vehicles, Honda also had the much smaller HRV long before the Quasqai was introduced.

    This car is as Japanese as the sushi you get in the UK. It has the fish and rice but it's not fresh nor authentically tasted. Either way it suits the local style. In the case of Qashqai it is exceptionally well executed. Not the same can be said with the sushi.

    • @TheKenjoje
      @TheKenjoje 11 років тому +3

      actually, kia sportage. as far as engineering goes, you are not right, the platform isn' t french at all. true, entirely french is 1,5 dci, but that engine is improved since it appeared araound 2003. 1,6 dci is colaboration of the two - chain-cam engine in nissan style and electronics and injection from renault....the rest is nissan, albeit english nissan....

    • @benanderson89
      @benanderson89 11 років тому +2

      The platform is called CFM and was developed in London by Nissan. Its a 100% Nissan UK platform, but under the alliance scheme Renault have access to it.
      The DCi engines are co-developed by Nissan and Renault, and are the only French influence over the car. Other than some extra engineering in Spain, the Qashqai is 100% British and 100% Nissan.
      The design is also not from the ix35. If you stand an old Qashqai next to a new one, you can see that Nissan have carried all the styling cues over from the old and just enhanced them. Its the new front grille design from the new Note and the slightly older Juke, its the same window shapes from the old but more aggressive, a new and rather striking set of LED daytime running lights, boomerang rear lights that Nissan have had for decades and so forth.
      Consider this:
      The Qashqai looks like the ix35 because the ix35 took inspiration from the Qashqai. You have to remember that the Qashqai has been around since 2007!

    Good review.
    Really like this car but the thing that's holding me back are the underpowered engines. 110-130bhp is woeful these days. They need some better, more modern engines.

      +Leandro Costa in my opinion the Qashqai has a lot of plastic inside and an incredibly weak engine. The Audi q3 is upscale,and luxurious with a powerful 2.0Turbo engine and torque. When it comes to looks and performance i would say Audi , when it comes to cheaper and new car i would say Qashqai. if the Audi does not have many miles on it, Audi q3 100%.

    My 2014 Qashqai broke down on Mway at 1750 miles chassis control fault
    It has always had parking sensor problems and stop start intermittent problems
    It has been in for correction four times and is still not fixed. Nissan technical haven't a clue what they are doing and Nissan Customer care don't care ...if you can get through to them!
    I have still onlydone 2000 miles and have lost all confidence in driving the car I sincerely regret buying this car aI Unlike my previous Nissans this car has many Renault parts and I wonder if that is the problem Nissan Quality has certainly taken a dive with this car

      LancashireLad666 I have never understood motability. Who is paying for that? The taxpayer? I have a friend on motability. There is FUCK ALL wrong with him. Not cripple, not dying, nothing................

    • @LancashireLad666
      @LancashireLad666 9 років тому

      First of all it's not free like most people think. Motability is a charity. But the help for getting around component of DLA Disability Living Allowance of around £250 a month allows you to pay that to Motability on a 3 year hire contract. Yes DLA is a benefit and is paid by the tax-payer. But you can spend it how you like. As for your friend, if he really has nothing up with him, then he should feel ashamed as people with real disabilities are being either thrown off or denied DLA when they really need them.

    • @monk3yboy69
      @monk3yboy69 9 років тому

      LancashireLad666 A charity funded by the taxpayer. Incredible. Just like the BBC being a charity and the licence fee payer being "forced" to contribute to this "charity"
      The world has finally eaten itself!

    • @LambdaWave84
      @LambdaWave84 10 років тому +1

      ***** The British have a sort of inferiority complex, so they always need to say that everything in this world was built/engineered/invented in Britain.
      The Qashqai is based on the Renault/Nissan CMF platform, and the diesel engines all comes from Renault. The only thing is that the Cashcow is built at Sunderland.
      So there is not a lot of British-added value in this car... Mat, please stop spread rubbish infos...

      Awm Joeyjoejoe designing .. building, 2 different story.

      ***** The Qashqai is styled by Nissan Design Europe in London, with engineering development led by Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) in Cranfield, Bedfordshire. It is built in Sunderland. That's design, engineering and manufacturing all carried out in the U.K. Check mate, sucker!
