Robert, you always reminding me of songs that I kind of forgot about. Don't really remember hearing this song to much in my youth. Thanks for reminding me of this Buddy Holly classic and your very nice performance.
This song was the B-side of "Heartbeat" which I think fared better in the UK than in the USA. I like Buddy Holly's music -- deceptively simple, but quality songs. Thank you for listening and commenting, Mike. Much appreciated!
We have visited both the Surf Ballroom and the Buddy Holly crash site in Clear Lake, Iowa a couple of times. Very moving and bittersweet to see the last place he performed before that fateful plane crash in 1959. Thank you for honoring his memory.
Buddy Holly was a great talent! We can only wonder what other great songs he would have written and recorded, had he not been taken too soon. I'm glad you like my tribute to him in song. Thank you for the comment!
Nailed it, Robert! And among other things, I always credit Mr Holly for showing me how dangerous it can be to be in such a hurry to get anywhere, that you think you have to get on a plane.
My wife hates flying, although that is somewhat academic now. We have enjoyed holidays in various European countries in the past, but doubt that we'll fly again -- all the hassle at the airports has become too much for us. Advancing years has brought with it a desire for a more sedate carry on! Thank you for the visit, and the comment!
You and your guitar in wonderful harmony, Robert. I like this a lot. Not sure I remember the song, but that didn't matter, there's something warmly special about Buddy Holly songs and this is one is no exception. I enjoyed my listen, my friend. Good one.
Thank you so much, Bill! Buddy Holly wrote (or co-wrote) deceptively simple songs, but they were -- and remain -- good songs, with messages that still appeal to us today. Glad you enjoyed my rendition of this one!
Thank you Pierre! Yes, my Martin 000 15M Streetmaster is my favourite guitar -- easy to play and it has lovely tonal qualities. Thank you for the visit, and the comment!
This song was the B-side of "Heartbeat" which was a hit for Buddy Holly in 1958 and 1959. Back then B-sides were often little more than filler or throwaway songs, but Buddy Holly had none of that -- he always gave value for money, with good songs on both the A-side and the B-side. " Well... All Right" was co-written by Buddy himself, along with Norman Petty, Jerry Allison and Joe Mauldin.
Thank you, Cas! Buddy Holly had the gift of creating simple songs that were expressive and memorable... and they have stood the test of time. I appreciate your comment!
