Robin Williams in Friends and Matthew McConaughey in Sex and the City!
William Shatner on Cosby. "Does this look infected to you?" Pure gold.
@@ShandoraTheExplorer Robin Williams on Happy Days.
Dominic Dunne on Frasier. In a squeaky wheelchair!
Fitting that Oldman is #1 because he is a chameleon of an actor. (The highest praise I am able to offer.)
6:15 - The ironic thing about this video saying Bruce Willis is "known as an action star," his biggest performance prior to "Die Hard" was on "Moonlighting." When he was cast as John McClane, the general reaction was "That guy does comedy! He's not an action guy! This is stupid casting!"
Watchmojo and MsMojo… presenting interesting facts they sorta remember and couldn’t be bothered to look up. I switched on this video because it looked interesting but of course, sooner or later they always say something stupid.
@@BeeWhistler Yeah, and the two movies he did prior to Die Hard were comedies - Blind Date and Sunset (well, allegedly comedies).
My favorite part about Leonard Nemoy’s appearance was his exchange with Lisa:
“My job here is done.”
“But you haven’t done anything!”
“…Haven’t I?”
🤣🤣🤣
Gary Oldman is an amazing actor. Throughout his career, he has delivered a lot of wonderful performance, such as Dracula in Bram Stoker's Dracula, Sirius Black and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Jim Gordon in The Dark Knight Trilogy and of course, Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2, who is one of the greatest DreamWorks villains ever.
He's been one of my favorites for years!
Absolutely one of my top 10!
Came here to say that but you write it gooder. My dream film would have been Oldman in a Ridley Scott film or did I miss it?
@@tarahernandez6891 it was Sid and Nancy for me when I was kid.
And we can't forget his protagonist role in "The Fifth Element"!
How dare you! Bruce Willis STARTED as a comedic actor, just look at Moonlighting, and he did a few comedic roles before being truly type cast as a hard ass action star.
Possibly his BEST comic performance is in "Death Becomes Her".
@@brianthomas2434 and Hudson Hawk.
@@auberginebear a truly terrible movie ALMOST redeemed by the appearances of Sandra Bernhard and Richard E. Grant. Mr. Willis does not TOTALLY embarass himself, though he works hard at it.
Also, people might not remember but before "F.r.i.e.n.d.s." he did an even funnier cameo on "Mad About You"
Michael Douglas doesn’t do comedy? Romancing the Stone? War of the Roses?
No one did it better than Gary Oldman! True thespian, class act & amazing guy!!
Sir Derek Jacobi won an Emmy Award by mocking his Shakespearean background in the television sitcom Frasier episode "The Show Must Go Off", in which he played the hammy, loud, untalented Jackson Hedley, a television star with a misguided belief that he deserves a revival of his stage career.
JK Simmons is absolutely wonderful in just about anything.
Bruce Willis was very funny in Death Becomes Her alongside Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn
We can't forget William Shatner and Kathy Bates on "3rd Rock from the Sun". Both were nominated for Emmys for their appearances.
Bates also did a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory. She was incredible! SO funny!
Shatner and Lithgow were gold
I was a HUGE "3rd Rock" fan. When they cast Shatner as the "Big Giant Head", I thought it was genius casting. Still do. 🤣
I like when famous actors guest on sitcoms because they got along well with one of it's stars on another project:
Gary Oldman with Matt LeBlanc on Friends after Lost in Space
Bruce Willis with Matthew Perry (RIP) on Friends after The Whole Nine Yards
J.K. Simmons with Andy Samburg on Brooklyn Nine-Nine after I Love You, Man and again later in Palm Springs
Russel Crow on The Republic of Doyle after being in Robin Hood with Alan Doyle
Gary Oldman was a real sport for mocking his personal problems
Great comment, but only if you read it as Gary Oldman would.
Lapaglia was genius and earned his Emmy several times over. His closing dialogue when he abandons his mother was touching and sad. "I'm sorry but I just don't have it in me. It may make me a bad person, but it just isn't who I am." And he walks out for good. Bye Mom.
I only knew him from Frasier, and he was HYSTERICAL!!! I had no idea he was mainly a serious actor. 😀
Since when is Bruce Willis not a comedic actor? He started on Moonlighting. And Patrick Stewart already had more than a few comedic roles.
It’s certain that at least once in any Watchmojo video they’ll show that they don’t believe anything happened before they got old enough to see it themselves. Since most if not all of them were born after 1979, that’s not much, really. Now, I don’t have a problem with being too young to know about something, but a channel whose entire purpose is to make lists of information really ought to have researchers who know how to, y’know… research. But not only do all Watchmojo and related channels miss obvious historical facts, but they declare things that are obviously wrong with such gusto.
Mr. Nimoy was so funny in TBBT as the voice of the Mr. Spock (puppet).
I love Charlize Theron's stint on "Arrested Development." She should honestly star in more comedies, she has excellent comedic timing.
The way she handles her children are comedy enough.....
@@AndreFTSG ...You just couldn't resist, could you??
Though I haven't enjoyed the show in ages, I feel like Patrick Stewart's recurring role as CIA Director Bullock deserves mention ( as well as his occasional Family Guy gags like being the inner voice of Suzy Swanson or the time Peter had his vocal chords )...glad his Frasier appearance got mentioned at least, I loved that episode. Also, if I remember right, Frasier was 100% right about Blaine in the end....which just makes the whole thing funnier
Gary Oldman is one of the finest actors around! I first saw him in "Sid & Nancy" and then "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead." The latter being one of my favorite movies.
I love R&G Are Dead , the play, but boy do I have trouble sitting through the movie! I guess I should try it again.
JK Simmons also had a hilarious turn on "Party Down"
Jonathan Banks is also in Community, which is also genius. The same goes for Michael K. Williams.
Banks also plays Ben Wyatt's dad in Parks and Recreation.
David Bowie on Extras is rip-roaring hilarious
His brutal put down of Andy millman. Was masterfull. And done via song
"Funny Little Fat Man" :)
Four people on this list had great cameos on Frasier.
Patrick Stewart on Extras was my favorite. Has been for years. Though Gary Oldman is a close second. 😂
What’s even funnier is the Extras outtakes where Patrick Stewart and Ricky just cannot get through the scene without cracking up.
I think David Bowie in Extras would be my favourite.
Philipp Baker Hall as Mr. Bookman in Seinfeld.
PERFECT!!
Bruce Willis did the Friends for free, because they made a bet that the whole nine yards wasn't going to be very successful
Michael Douglas was pretty funny in Romancing the Stone in a sarcastic sense! Bruce Willis had the same type of comedic genius even in his action characters. An actor who has surprised me with his comedic chops is James Cagney! I've seen him in several things were he plays a gangster type or an otherwise not-so-nice person. Then I saw him in Mr. Roberts opposite Henry Fonda and Jack Lemmon! Hilarious movie! John Wayne could also do funny like in Donovan's Reef with Lee Marvin! Another hilarious movie!
"30 Rock" mad many incredible comic turns by dramatic actors but Micheal Sheen as Wesley Snipes was most DEFINITELY the best (soz Hamm)
How could they have forgotten about Glenn Close on Will & Grace!
It now occurs to me that we have a near-example of the Celebrity Paradox. "Friends" and "Mad About You" take place in the same universe, with Ursula and Phoebe being sisters. (Twins?) Bruce Willis had the guest turn you mention on "Friends", and he appeared as himself shooting "Die Already" in either the childbirth or just-before-childbirth episode of "Mad About You".
Bruce Willis was the best thing in friends. Even though it was a cameo. The scene with Ross trapped under the bed being scared shitless of Paul Stevens is very funny.
Even the coffee stains on the table in Central Perk were funnier than the show.
For me it's a tie between *Matt Damon* and *Michael Douglas* on "Will & Grace".
It's not the end until Gary Oldman yells at someone 🙂
Someone? EVERYONE!!!!!
Bruce Willis got his start as a comedic actor... the breakout show is called Moonlighting and was a huge hit. And Colin Farrell has always been in comedies... In Bruges is a comedy!!!! this list really missed the mark
OMG yes! In Bruges was phenomenally funny.
I'd give the Bruce Willis one a pass, since most people who do know him, would know him from Die Hard and other action films.
@user-lb9xw4xf2q That would be most people under a certain age. Moonlighting was genius.
@@barbarat5729 100%. And him being cast in Die Hard was controversial because he was just a soap/sitcom star at the time.
@@barbarat5729Most people under a certain age grew up with the world’s pop culture history at their fingertips. I think the various Mojo channels say stupid things on purpose to make us comment more. I’m done, though. This is the first video of theirs I’ve watched in months and I’m quitting halfway. They’re so proudly ignorant…
Great list! Also loved Johnathan Banks on Parks and Recreation and Patrick Stewart on his comedy Blunt Talk! 😂
I have trouble thinking of J.K. Simmons as a dramatic actor after hearing his voicework for Legend of Korra.
Likewise, John Hamm was pretty funny in Good Omens season 2.
J.K. Simmons IS J.Jonah Jameson!
Richard Crosby on friends was hilarious especially while he was drunk and joey walked him over his shoulder and Richard said “is that my a***”
I wish that they had included the quick question and answer debate between Matt Damon and Will. The fact that he says how long he has been with his boyfriend and his boyfriend's name is Ben 😂😂😂
Tom Selleck on Friends!
Jon Hamm also does a great job in ‘Toast of London’ - Hamm on Toast!!
And I love Kyle McLachlan’s turn in Portlandia.
Bruce Willis was always funny first, action man second, and I love him since Moonlighting.
Brad Pitt for me was the best cameo of Friends 😂
Such a great Thanksgiving episode.
Yup especially when Phoebe blurted out “Oh come on Will, take off your shirt and tell us”..had me rolling😅😅😅😅
Don Johnson was great as Kenan Thompson's father in law on "Kenan."
I honestly much prefer Bruce Willis’ insane appearance on That 70s Show 😂 I didn’t even know it was him until someone pointed it out to me a few years later
JEJ's ep of BBT will always be my favorite.
JOJ's of TTBR was better.
Funnily enough I actually had no idea who Oldman was when that episode aired. It was my first impression of him. I'm Serious.
If you can't pronounce "Frasier" correctly, you shouldn't be doing voiceovers.
also alec baldwin in Friends
Leonard Nimoy was also on the Simpsons épisode ‘Thé Springfield Files’ (aka the x Files crossover with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) as the narrator
THANK YOU TON ' S OF GREAT CLIP ' S ;
Wasn't Moonlighting a sitcom ? You know, that show that starred Bruce Willis ?
Kristen Stewart was great when she hosted SNL.
Frasier deserves to have all the spots on this list. I mean pretty much all of the actors were originally stage actors anyway
@jl5749: Including Kelsey Grammer himself, nine different people who appeared on "Frasier" started out as part of Daytime Dramas such as "Another World."🤔😉🎤👨🎓📻☕📺B.W.
The exclusion of John Goodman from Community speaks volumes on this list's quality. As well as using 3 separate cameos from the same series.
First time I watched the Friends episode with Gary Oldman in.......... I kept forgetting his name! :D
Mark hamil on what we do in the shadows
Can't believe you left out Sigourney Weaver in Doc Martin
All actors that appeared in Extras could be on the list
looks like MsMojo forgot Michael Keaton was Beetlejuice. stellar performance&hilarious!
And who could ever forget 'Mr. Mom'?
And Multiplicity is a masterpiece
I didn't know Charlie Sheen was a Nepo Baby haha
Yep. Man isn't even a Sheen. Though, neither is his dad. They're both actually Estevezes. Which is why Charlie has played in a few things with his brother Emelio. The other two siblings Ramon and Renee are also actors.
Willis is known as an action star? Ironic given his casting in Die Hard was so controversial because at the time he was known only as a sitcom star from stuff like Moonlighting. To the point he was originally not even on the movie posters. Back then, Bruce Willis was not a name that would sell a blockbuster movie.
Billy Bob Thornton on Big Bang Theory should be on this list.
Totally Agree!!!
Definitely Gary Oldman. Happy friday night , Jen, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
Yes....and from Mexico, too!
@@steveegallo3384 That's the attitude!
@@samuelcollantes1175 -- What 'attitude'? What are you ON anyway?
@@steveegallo3384 What i meant is that i liked you also send greetings from your country as well, but, no offense.
@@samuelcollantes1175 -- None taken, amigo.....I spent many happy years in the Caquetá.....I wish you and your family a Blessèd Holiday!
Countless celebs were on *Will & Grace* but *Michael Douglas* was one of my favorite ones to appear on the show. He was hilarious 😂
I dunno. I think my favorite is Sir. Elton John in the gay Mafia episode.
Patrick was hilarious. I've watched this more than once.
Brad Pitt was the hilarious one.😆
You could have included almost every episode of Ricky Gervais’ ‘Extras’. Kate Winslet giving advice on phone sex while dressed as a nun is gold.
Leonard Nimoy was also on Futurama. Love it!
James Earl Jones was also hilarious in Will and Grace helping Jack with his acting school. And Mark Hamill was excellent playing himself in Just Shoot Me when he becomes David Spader's nerd friend.
I loved Ben Stiller's turn on Extras as a pompous, self-obsessed caricature of himself.
I disagree about the Bruce Wllis, I think his cameo in Mad About You was much better.
Wes Studi on Reservation Dogs is hilarious!
I was expecting Michael J Fox in Curb your Enthusiasm, but there could be a whole vid on cameos there. And most would be about Jon Hamm.
Bruce Willis got his career started in "Moonlighting". If you don't know what that is, you are WAY too young! ;)
Anthony LaPaglia was in So, I Married an Axe Murderer.
It's NOT "fraZer"! 🙄
A lot of these picks seem not to understand that there were movies and tv shows prior to the 90s...
Bruce Willis was a comedic actor before he was in Die Hard...
Jonathan Banks was also one... he was in Airplane! even...
Anthony L., not gonna try to spell that last name, is an awesome actor. Loved him in A Good Marriage.
Sam Elliot. I've had a crush on him since I was 10. Still hot, especially in Ghost Rider.
Sam Elliot is the coolest guy and actor that was ever born.😊
Martin Sheen had quite a few comedic lines in The West Wing. In fact the overprotective/exasperated father was part of his comedic tropes in the West Wing.
I loved JK Simmons in his own short lived Sit-Com, Growing up Fisher, in 2014 five yrs before Brooklyn.
I think you forgot about Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul in Always Sunny Philadelphia
Colin Hay~Men at Work did great "Scrubs"
JEJ is a legend
You might have mentioned Bruce Willis started his career on Moonlighting
"Is that my arse?"
Didn't Joey use Charlton Heston's shower in Friends and regret it later?
Be sure to look for an amazing performance by Sam Kinison on the classic TV show Married With Children.
Nimoy also appeared on an episode of Duckman
Bruce Willis started out on his own tv series Moonlighting
No Brendan Fraser on "Scrubs"?
i wish there wasa yarn barn in BK.
How the heck is Bruce Willis in this list? Before Die Hard he was a comedy actor. Look up the tv series Moonlight, he was the lead of the series.
Edit: who the hell made this list? Michael Keaton? Also Brad Pitt being married to Jennifer Aniston during his episodes in Friends? They started dating after tnat appearence.
What about Philip Baker Hall as The Library Cop on Seinfeld
While this is an entertaining video & first made me believe that these weren't Cameos, but dramatic actors being cast in Sitcoms (Leslie Nielsen in Police Squad, Maurice Evans & Agnes Morehead in Bewitched & Many Others), I still can't be in agreement with all of your list, unless you narrow them as per time periods, etc. Even more so, given that you left out many Classical/Funny Cameo Appearances from I Love Lucy alone. Maybe I'm too old. I'd have definitely put in George Reeves, playing his Superman Character, after finding out that Ricky Ricardo has been with Lucy for 15 years, telling Ricky, "And They Call Me Superman" is hysterical, especially given his roles, also, in Gone With The Wind & Others. William Holden I Love Lucy is such A Masterpiece/Classic against his Dramatic Roles in Stalag 17 (Best Actor Win), Bridge On The River Kwai, Network, and Sunset Boulevard, to name a few. Moreover, many on your list, such as Michael Keaton, were Comedic Actors before they tried Drama. I still enjoyed watching, even though I had disagreements. Maybe, you can do A Video On Actors That Goofed On Themselves, Such As Gary Oldman. Another one could be Actors Goofing On Themselves in Movies about Other Movies That They Were In (I saw The Out-Laws, in which A Reference is made to James Bond by Ellen Barkin, to which Pierce Brosnan asks, Which One? She says #5, who is Brosnan Himself (after Sean Connery, George Lasenby, Roger Moore & then Timothy Dalton), to which He Replies, Good One. LOL
After years of being a heavy, Leslie Nielsen read for a part on "MASH" about a comically overbearing General in 1973. Seven years later the Team of Zucker Abrahamson and Zucker rolled the dice once more and cast him as an Airline Pilot in the outrageous Satire "Airplane!" Also on "MASH": Before he became McLean Stevenson's replacement at "The 4077th", Harry Morgan guested as an equally daft Commander. And pre "Barney Miller" James Gregory also stopped by "The 40 Double Natural."🤔😉🎤👨⚕️👩⚕️📺B.W.
you shouldn't really count actors playing themselves, and the ones in THE SIMPSONS deserve their own list.
What counts as a 'serious actor'? Actors ought to be able to do comedy or drama, with the right script and direction; the danger is when 'comic actors' who behave as if their very appearance is creating paroxyms of laughter, go 'dramatic' using the same techniques, which don't convince (Robbie Coltrane syndrome).
Anthony LaPaglia in FRASIER was incredibly wrong: A Mancunian talking like a cockney. Had the show's makers any interest in Britain, they might have explained that Simon Moon learned to read watching Bob Hoskins in the series 'On the Move', and thought it only worked if he did the voice as well.
Patrick Stewart is pretty much a regular on American Dad
Sam Elliot did a whole sitcom called The Ranch on Netflix
Will was a fanook
Billy Bob Thornton on Big Bang Theory
i wouldve gone with stewarts role on american dad tbh
