Hi Wes, I have seen many reviews and jpegs online. I really struggle to see the additional 14 Megapixels improving sharpness and detail. What I'm noticing is the increase in noise above 3200 iso. If anything X-H2 actually has less detail after 6400... What is your experience?
Wes, if you want to push your X-H2 for maximum 40MP resolution, the lenses you mentioned and have listed are not going to cut it. You need to step up to a top tier Fujinon prime: 18/1.4, 23/1.4 II, 33/1.4, 50/2.0, 56/1.2 II, 80/2.8, 90/2.0, or 200/2.0. BTW, my X-H2 animal eye AF is working fine after the FW update.
Thank you for watching and for leaving a helpful comment! I will definitely be renting a prime lens to try out. Any particular favorite that you have used?
Love your channel. I recently got the X H2s and wow what a camera. The af is on par with Sony and Canon in most situations. I LOVE Fuji colors, renditions and sooc images. I've shot with various A7 cameras all the way to the R Iv and now with Canon R6. I will be selling my R6 and will be going full Fujifilm. Plus the video on the X H2s is one of the best out there. It seems like the af of the X H2 is on a similar level of the X T4.
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment! I will do more tests on both cameras and I hope that I can dial in the X-H2 to be amazing in the way that the X-H2s is!
I’ll be interested in your experience with the pair of X-H’s. I picked-up a X-H2S in July and just go back from a month in Italy with it. Very impressed with the keeper rate and handling. Upon my return, my X-H2 was waiting for me at my local camera shop. A couple test shots of flower/plant close-ups with the 16-55 have me excited about this 40MP sensor. Can’t wait to take some landscapes with it and some 80mm macros. Looking forward to your adventures.
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment! I'll be doing some proper testing with the 16-55, and I just ordered the new 56mm to test with the X-H2
I was fortunate to visit Italy this summer and took the X100v. It would be great to compare shots. Would you be willing to share some for a livestream in planning on Italy/travel photos with Fuji cameras?
I used to shoot an X-H1 and X-T4. I was always frustrated with muddy shadows and switch back to Nikon Z6ii and Z7ii. I am curious about the X-H2 in low-light and astrophotography. Are muddy shadows still an issue? The Fuji's didn't require near as much post processing and I miss the film simulations. The film simulation I have in my Nikons just are not the same.
Thanks, Tony! So sad how so many of the Sequoias burned in this last fire! I was trying to make a funny comment about how I was almost as sad that you're shooting Canon, but it just made me sound like a jerk, so I'll leave that comment out. 😅😉
Hello Wes. Having shot with the Canon R5, how would you compare the image quality (for stills) between the Fuji 40mp to the Canon 45mp sensors? Is it comparable or is the RF glass just too much for the Fuji system to keep up with? I shoot a 5Dmkiii and an X-T4 so I'm going back and forth on which high megapixel camera I should go for next.
Yes R5 IQ is better from my usage but the reason I don't like about the R5 is banding in image and overheating when I'm outdoors under the sun doing birding
Hi Rich - you've likely already made a decision but coming from the 5D, you'll be insanely delighted with the R5. Coming from the X-T4, either will be a step up. The R5 would be my suggestion if resolution is your main goal. The camera performs amazingly well. It's a joy.
Informally and based on a comparison to shooting with the X-H2s for a recent event, I'd say once I set the ISO above 1000, it started to affect image quality. And by ISO 2000, the images on the X-H2 looked similar in terms of noise to images shot at ISO 8000 on the X-H2s. I will definitely do a better test because the images at high ISO on the X-H2s seemed significantly more usable.
I do birding in daylight 1600 below is fine anything above you lose feather details this iso noise level is similar to my previous Panasonic G9 M43 so take note

Have you tried comparing approved vs non approved lenses.
Now I'd like to see a sharpness comparison with older bodies. Oh and white balance on skin tones.

@@WesKriesel I have the 50/2, 80/2.8 & 90/2. Any of those will do the 40MP trick, I'm having fun with the 80/2.8 macro right now.

I think the low light performance is great as is the dynamic range. Recovering shadows is amazing as far as what crisp, clear results you can get.
Nice Wes!
Thank you!

Jealous you’re so close to the sequoias. Not jealous of your fujis #teamcanon 😝

@@WesKriesellet’s be honest, I’m just not cool enough to shoot fuji.

Hi! I was also wondering how this camera does in tracking dogs. Hope you can do another test.
I will definitely do more tests with animal tracking.

Yes - agreed. Sorry to hear about overheating on the R5 - that's with stills? I've only had overheating issues with the video.

From what I've seen the rolling shutter is awful on xh2. What's the point of doing 8k or even lower if we cannot make videos in movement?
