Erlendur Svavarsson ah ok then maybe i’m thinking of a different version of it but I remember the first time I heard it was completely different to this recording. Even a little slower
LYRICS: Now and then I think of when his teeth were so small and white He laughed when he heard the songs in the distant night Later on his smile was gone, his lips spoke of silent things The least he could do was more than his life could bring Oh what a shame, what a terrible shame To be lost and found below the ground, beneath every child that play His life were so short, it's hard to believe today
There's a song "Thoughts of a gentleman- The Saga of Harrison Crabfeathers" on a CD entitled "Ecstasy", from my 3 CD album: "Steve Kuhn- Life's Backward Glances, Solo and Quartet" The Ecstasy disk is solo piano... it's really great! The albums other CDs are "Motility", S.K. w/Steve Slagle, Harvie S. and Michael Smith and "Playground" with, in addition to S.K., Sheila Jordan, Harvie S. and Bob Moses.
This tune is so ethereal and mysterious, absolutely love the ending with the Rhodes keys and vocals. A true hidden gem
👍
Folk City is such an odd venue to have booked Steve Kuhn.
I remember the place. Great club for folk and folk-rock, singer-songwriters. But not jazz.
...To be lost and found below the ground, beneath every child at play...
one of the, if not the most beautiful tune I've ever heard
Great nice .i love George Mraz and all .nice Thème and ambiance ..
This is great music.
I wish I could find the original version of this song with the bass intro pick up. still a great song.
I have only the vinyl.

It also goes by the name of "Poem for No. 15". Maybe you are referring to the version on the ECM version "Life's Backward Glances"?

Steve Kuhn said " today "
who is Harrison Crabfeathers
No it was the baseball player Thurmon Munson, who died at a very young age. See Jazz Child: A Portrait of Sheila Jordan.
Steve Kuhn's dog
i think it was his dog
@@raisemavro7664I don’t know. Munson died in ‘74 or ‘75.
This was recorded in 1972.
Something about the vocals reminds me of this relatively new track from Swell Session: ua-cam.com/video/Ly_V3vkhU5c/v-deo.html
