I've never played more than a few minutes of fire emblem, but this level-up system is fascinating. Every player has their own story about a time when unit X was useless but unit Y was powerful, which gives them strong opinions of X and Y as characters. That gives the game a unique social component of trading anecdotes with other players about "my X" and "my Y". I'm amazed anyone had the patience to use Lyre. The cat cauge gives you like 2 turns of combat, and the only wat to train her is by attacking priests, whi can't retaliate.
Actually you can't train her up on priests because she'll kill them too quickly. You have to untransform her and find a mage who doesn't kill her in one round so she can attack while untransformed because Laguz gain like x5 EXP in their human form. Cat's are fucking awful lol.
@@JelloApocalypse Oh wow.. .god. Plus with the Lagus having garbage growths, nd the Cat gauge being the worst by far... You're a stronger man than I'll ever be.
"FE fans care too much about bases and growths" isn't that...literally what makes a character good or not? Like POR Shinon? Or Sothe? Or Soren? I'm sure he just meant to say growths, because like, bad bases are literally why a lot of people don't use the trainee units, let alone all 3 trainees in Sacred Stones.
Its better to come to these streams for the fun energy and banter. While they aren't inept at gaming like Game Grumps, a lot of their gaming opinions are...hot takes. Not for Fates, no offense, but their 3H takes are pretty harsh, and thats coming from a guy who also doesn't like 3H.
I freaking love the older FE designs, a lil anime but still mostly functional armour and clothing. The increasing weebness of later character designs makes me sad.
@bitterorange7843 I'll admit, Three Houses was more reeled in then Fates, but I feel that was more to do with them wearing pseudo school uniforms then actual military attire. And yeah, Engage is abysmal, half the mcs look like toothpaste mascots.
@BitterOrange I'd argue people are overly harsh, but it's really more of a scale of how much has gotten a pass before and how much of a pass you can give later. Like, most games have a 'girl in a pre-victorian dress', but engage effectively has 4, coupled with extra face decals on characters and multi-colored hair. I'd argue it's on the verge of too far and that it should definitely shift the other way, but it's hard to flag the vast majority of characters across the series for being 'more anime' than, say, Marth or Ike.
@shadowflames43 I don't really mind most of the Engage's cast design when they're in supports/battles, it's more the somniel outfits where it gets a bit iffy for me
Looking at you with your 4 inch long backhand spikes, Ivy. She would have an ALMOST okay design if she were, like, in a Tales of game, mages have dresses and skirts and shit in that, but in FE, put on some fucoing pants, girl.
"Rolf is so bad in both games" "You are objectively wrong" Man, I love you guys, but listening to Jello be so confidently incorrect is painful sometimes
@@purpleisdebeste Let me guess, after excessive babying Rolf finally manages to hit a point where he can kill one enemy per turn and they treat this as really worth celebrating for some reason when the rest of their units are killing dozens. Archers are useless in PoR. No matter how good his stats turn out he's locked into a weapon type that can't counterattack 90% of enemies in the game. Most of the combat in PoR happens in the enemy phase so bow users are essentially dead weight for most of the game.
Yeah, I’m mostly able to put up with it but all their analysis is just wrong lol. For example ever their Oscar is like -1 str, unit performance varies a lot more by timing and match up then by random growths I.e Oscar is doing low damage against strong enemies because it’s early game and they aren’t forging, not because of -1 str. At the same time you can’t get to upset, jello is pretty clearly a casual player (boss abuse in PoR normal mode?). It’s not like we are here for the pro plays lol.
My take on Three Houses, because you got me thinking about it and therefore it’s your fault: so much wasted potential because they put too much work on things that did not need as much attention as they got, for example: the hub. Could’ve been a series of PoR-style series of menus and smaller, instanced cutscene rooms and the entire game would’ve been way more polished for it. Even in Engage the hub area seems like a mistake, and effort could’ve been put elsewhere. Three Hopes also did the hub area, but it was smaller and more concise and you don’t spend nearly as much time there. Which is why it’s a better game. Tl;dr: IS needs to drop the hub nonsense
i gotta say, this whole game (radiant dawn included) is a master class on handling topics of racism because the game actually writes good characters before inserting the themes, this game has ruined all other fire emblems for me!
When was this recorded? I'm surprised I haven't heard any FE Engage takes. Been playing through recently, and while the story is pretty basic, I love the mechanics and battles so far. Plus, I've been enjoying the character interactions with the bonds.
I remember watching the first stream live(I was the one who asked In what order they would recommend playing the pre Awakening Fire Emblem Games), and I seem to remember it a couple of years back somewhere around late 2020 and early 2021.
FE: Three Houses was my first FE game, and I instantly went with what turned out to be the only route I felt like finishing: Golden Deer. For real, that game has huge problems with not making sense. Only 1 of the 4 paths actually have you fight the big bad, but that path doesn't give you any real insight into why the plot unfolds the way it does (Which, as it turns out, is because Edelgard is really easy to manipulate, in harsh contrast to her personality). Heck, in the blue-boy route, you don't even accomplish anything other than not letting Dimitri commit sudoku on some random soldier's spear. It really feels like they gave up writing a cohesive plot after the time-skip, realizing that writing 4 entirely separate plot-branches was outside their capacity. I enjoyed FE: Three Hopes, though. They should have added the DLC classes, but the story is less aggravating on account of being less present. Helps that Shez is fun, too.
It is kinda funny that they keep talking about other FE games being bad while like every thirty seconds pointing out horrible mechanics or maps in this game. I guess thats kinda just how this series is.
Love her, but PoR Mia is objectively awful. Swords are at an all time low in PoR, no two range option except the (1) sonic sword in bulk emblem is just very, very bad. Vantage, despite being it's fe4 self feel super mid without a ranged option and swords compound her str problem. PoR also just heavily favors mounted units. RD Mia is an entirely different story though, she's quite good there, most likely the second best foot unit in the game, and cavs are severely nerfed through the map design, while she get to take advantage of ranged swords and movable skill scrolls that she's literally the best use of (sorry soren).
The vigilante that gave ike the sword did it for purely kind reasons, in the sea the ravens usually attack the boats trying to raid them. In this case it didn't have something specifically to do with racism. I also hate punch a racist mentality people have in the stream, violence perpetuates and surprise people are scared of people that can turn into beasts. Intolerance is solved by connection and education not by simply killing those you don't agree with

SPOILER WARNING!!!

I got spoiled on the black knights identity by Super Smash Bros Ultimate actually. In the world of light there is a general Zelgius spirit which gets enhanced into the black knight. TBF the game is super old so i was surprised it took until i played the game in like 2021 to be spoiled. Which meant i got spoiled just before watching this series.
2:01:31 the way me and Will did the exact same thing-
out of curiosity is the highlight video of this playthrough still planned, because i really wanna see how some specific scenes are drawn, dont know if there was any info on it quq
2:57:56 oscar : wow... he's even more of an ass kisser than i remember!
me, put-out about the three houses opinions:
ME, GOING 'OH GOD' THE INSTANT I HEAR 'the horses map' :
lmfao
(and it's fine tbh, i never finished radiant dawn (NO SUPPORTS BOO! lmao), so like. turnabout is fair play, i think?)
also, god, i can't believe how dirty RD did my girl Astrid
not only taking away her second proficiency, but fucking. being in love with the trash boy? monstrous
but im still madder at Heroes for not adding Heather
GIVE NEPHENEE HER CRIME GF YOU COWARDS
ah, and you also pair mia and ilyana
based,
Question: did Jello stream Radiant Dawn too?
Yes indeedy! It’s all on twitch :)
@@adrianen4644 it was all on twitch*
Also, #BullyRhys
Don't
That'll likely land him in the hospital knowing his frailty
Again
How many streams exist of this both the prequel and sequel of this game
9 Parts Path of Radiance (likely to be 10 as Grand Finale was long), 14 Parts Radiant Dawn.
Poggers
Finally someone who acknowledges that Rolf is better than Shinon! Spoilers for Radiant Dawn, in one of my playthroughs Rolf destroyed the entire enemy army on his own.
You're a stronger man than I'll ever be.
ah yes the start of big stinko
This guy doesn't use TorGod? Little Celerity Boy is the best
Kinda sad to hear them shit on some of my favorite games Three houses, Fates, ect
Engage has set level ups as a new game plus option.
Man, these videos are slowly convincing me I need to buy a copy of Radiant Dawn. Thanks for the memories 🥹
What is that weird squeaky sound effect? I keep hearing it and it's giving me anxiety
I freaking love the older FE designs, a lil anime but still mostly functional armour and clothing. The increasing weebness of later character designs makes me sad.
@bitterorange7843
I'll admit, Three Houses was more reeled in then Fates, but I feel that was more to do with them wearing pseudo school uniforms then actual military attire.
This is why I can't enjoy Engage. None of them feel like real characters that actually exist.
"Rolf is so bad in both games"
"You are objectively wrong"
Man, I love you guys, but listening to Jello be so confidently incorrect is painful sometimes
You should watch the rest of his 3 streamed playthroughs of this game because I promise you you will find yourself mistaken :)
@@Tyr_Archalion I am kind of cheating saying "3 playthroughs" because the third of those is an archer only run.
@@whyiwakeup6460 I don't think he banned them, he just said he would as a joke
Blue Lions is terrible. But it remains my favorite route becaudw I love Dmitri.
When was this recorded? I'm surprised I haven't heard any FE Engage takes.
Been playing through recently, and while the story is pretty basic, I love the mechanics and battles so far. Plus, I've been enjoying the character interactions with the bonds.
Based on how, last stream, they were talking about Shinon and Petrine being added to Heroes, likely at least a good 2.5 years ago.
I remember watching the first stream live(I was the one who asked In what order they would recommend playing the pre Awakening Fire Emblem Games), and I seem to remember it a couple of years back somewhere around late 2020 and early 2021.
you can get fixed growths in fire emblem Engage
Three Houses is the only FE game I've played (Not including Warriors). I thought it was great.
Intolerance is solved by connection and education not by simply killing those you don't agree with
blue lions is literally the worst 3 houses route 💀 oh chat..........
