This is how you say BRILLIANT! I’m for sure not making the sawdust that you do, but I would grind firewood just to be able to justify one of those awesome things!

Looks really neat unit, New Yorkshire Workshop built his own, impressive project, but not easy. A must for your sort of works especially with fuel oil prices being outrageous.

I haven't seen briquettes that small before. You'll be able to pile them on like coke without the explosion risk involved when loading sawdust. Nice one, great time-saver as well. Tony

Great to see the set up thanks. I've got the same dust extractor! £6.5k for the machine is a lot of gas.

This is interesting, looking forward to what you have to say after using it a while. Might be something I'm investing in when I find a larger workshop. :)

I invested around £50k in new machinery towards the end of last year including the Felder RL200 and other Felder machines. Had a quote which included a briquette machine fitted directly under the RL200 Extractor and the quote for the briquette part alone was over £16,000+vat. The RL has amazing power but I have had major issues since the day it was commissioned. The shavings pass over the first bin and only fills the 2nd bin. Advised by Felder to fit a blast gate directly onto the extractor outlet to regulate the amount of pressure going into the extractor. So far it hasn't worked at all so the next step will be going back yet again to Felder. Love the rest of the Felder machines but the extractor is not fit for purpose.
Their view was "all workshops are different with different machines requiring different amount of extraction". I get that so why don't they fit an electric throttle to every machine as standard?. Apparently the next step for me is to have one fitted and probably pay for the privilige. Felder are a decent company but in realtion to my extractor their service has been poor, no follow up calls to see how the mahine is working and I've had to chase them up. My adivce having had one for 6 months is don't buy this extractor unless they fit a throttle as standard.
No mention of price for the briquette machine but I'm guessing around £9,000+vat unless it's chinese in which case half that.

Some woods are poisonous - will this have an effect on where you use the briquettes? We South Africans love a barbeque (we call it a 'braai.' We have a very moderate climate, so this is one of the reasons why a braai is so popular. We mostly braai mutton and beef, with a sausage called 'boerewors.') and these briquettes would work well for this, if the wood isn't toxic. I know oak is OK as the shavings are used for smoking meat.

i am reading comments about a cost of around £7500. It seems alot but the electricity costs in my small house will probably be over £2000, maybe £3000 in the next year. A lot of this is for night storage heaters, although.they are off now and I am sitting with an electric over blanket. Where is the quality of life in that. Manor Woods house and workshops will be warm next winter with little fuel cost. As is frequently the case, it is about short term versus long term costs.

That's fantastic. It'll pay its own way in no time. We just installed solar panels here in overcast Ireland and have been watching the electricity meter running backwards! Good feeling. Does it have to be purely sawdust for the briquette machine or can you have planer shavings in the bag as well? I'd usually have a 50/50 mix.
