      This is why I really feel like I want to be an advocate somehow, in this whole area. It's really a matter of equality and outright discrimination. Women make up more than 50% of the population. This is ridiculous. More than fifty percent of college students are women!! Now that we have that recent study that debunked the 2002 study we actually have something to work with, we can actually do something now. I feel somebody could get this whole thing moving really fast, especially if we all join together.

      @nicole Just because bio identical hormones work for you doesn't mean it works for every woman. I feel better just changing my diet. I include more fruits and vegetables, a large plate of rainbow colorful fruits and vegetables every day, I drink freshly made home made fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies ( I have a juicer and smoothie maker at home), I fill up on unsalted nuts, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, flaxseeds, tofu, tempeh, edamame, lentils, pulses, for protein, I fill up on herbs like turmeric, basil, pepper corns, cayenne pepper, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, cardamom, cinnamon, garlic, etc. I drink coconut water, water, herbal teas, 2 cups of coffee per day etc.. I also stick to wearing clothes made of natural fibers like cotton, fleece, linen, cashmere, silk etc.. I also stick to natural skin care products that contain natural ingredients such as aloe vera, sweet almond oil, avocado, turmeric, Manuka honey, cucumber etc.. My face creams, body butters, body washes, body oils, shampoos, conditioners etc..contain all these ingredients.

    Because of my AFIB and SVT they refuse to put me on HRT. Mind you the reason I know I have Afib and SVT is because my episodes started when my menopause started. I'm losing bone on my jaw, I have the hump on my upper back now. Having major joint and cognitive issues. I have cellulite everywhere now and I NEVER had cellulite ever before meaning that my insulin resistance is getting worse and I barely have enough energy to get done even half of what's on my list each day. My memory and focus are horrible! I am only 52 and have been furloughed so I need to get back to work and I am not even sure I can function at an optimal level. This menopause is a horrible way to live!

      A-Fib and SVTs due to hot flashes, is not direct link. Possibly indirect, due to dehydration and lack of essential minerals. Mainstream is a HOT mess - trust me, I know..been through hell and I'm 10 years younger, a nurse who is ptsd from all of what I went through, saw, and experienced. Sounds like post covid or the covid shot caused some inflammation, along with nutrient deficiencies. I 'get' the energy issue. I was full of energy, never needed coffee and still won't. 5G towers and the 'smart' devices all cause these things too.

    Question for Dr. & interviewer: For the final 12 months before I hit post menopause, in my mid-fifties, I was not offered bioidentical hormones but 2 weeks after I hit postmenopause, I was thankfully put on the estradiol patch and an oral progesterone. I'm wondering if the reason why some drs do not prescribe hrt during perimenopause is because it'll be more difficult to determine post menopause AND maybe it's because some women might think they're postmenopause when they're really not and they might end up with an unintended pregnancy..which is something the Dr might be blamed for... Because I know I got this sense that, you know, the big day is when I no longer have to worry about being pregnant. I mean, of course, that's the case, but I mean, I feel like the entire medical field thinks of it that way.. more about that, you can no longer get pregnant.No worries now. Of course I can see how that would be the major focus of it for hundreds of years...
    I'm very excited about this interview.Thank you! I bought two of your books. This whole subject area is something that, at the age of almost 59, I wish I could get paid to advocate for. For women's health in this realm. If there was a job I could do for the rest of my life instead of accounting (I'm currently getting another degree), I would go for that. I would feel like I was making a HUGE difference in the world for women and my 28 yo daughter, my 3 nieces, their 4 daughters, so if either of you know of anything where I could work here in Southern Calif. (Ventura Cty on edge of LA Cty) in helping to change the minds of health insurance companies and women themselves, I would love it. I'm very interested. My mother had a complete hysterectomy, I think in her early 40s, had 3 children prior and she died of dementia with maybe some alzheimer's at the age of 80. She suffered with some depression and not feeling good and ended up with Osteoporosis and broke a hip and I just really think her whole entire life would have been different if she had access to what I have access to.

    • @jaeshasway
      @jaeshasway Місяць тому +3

      Me too. We are the same age. When I started pre-menopause in my early 40’s I complained of estrogen drop and the side effects to my OBGYN. She put me on a low dose BC pill. She said it was best to block what the body was doing and simply replace it. I stayed on that for several years and did very well. I should say that I never had children and no hysterectomy. I believe I stopped the BC for a month so the doctor could test what phase of menopause I was in and it appeared that I was in the tail end. He put on a hormone replacement cream instead, but it was hard to stay compliant because I would forget to put it on every day. I was having some other health struggles and needed something easier. After struggling a year he put me on a patch and I loved it, and was on it for 3 years but eventually it caused me to get a cycle every time I would change it out. The patch also had issues staying on especially in the summer so you have to buy adhesive patches to cover them. This is why I looked into pellet HRT. Took the plunge and got it, but did not choose a great practitioner and had some issues. I was off of everything for about a year and the insomnia was out of control. I don’t like sleeping pills as I have POTS and can suffer from fatigue and brain fog. Sleeping pills, antidepressants, etc. are really not good for the brain. Recently started on bioidentical HRT cream and I’m happy with that until I find another pellet practitioner. The ease of having a pellet vs creams, patches or pills is unbeatable.

      @@jaeshasway I was put on the bc pill to help me with heavy periods in perimenopause as well. I think I was off of bc for several years or so prior to hitting post menopause so I didn't have to deal with the ambiguity of it being so close to the actual final 12 months before postmenopause. That must have been really frustrating!

      HRT messes with the body's hormone levels. Nature has already determined that the levels should change over time. Handing out HRT without first looking at dietary and exercise changes is just treating women like guinea pigs.

    • @charleedell92
      @charleedell92 22 дні тому +2

      The estrogen patches and micronised progesterone in HRT are also used in fertility treatment, they cannot harm a pregnancy. The primary reasons for delayed treatment of peri/menopause by physicians is lack of education and a high cultural tolerance of women's suffering.

      @charleedell92 Not surprised. I really think we are going to change the tide QUICKLY. I do not think it will take 5+ years. The truth is out, women are suffering and have been searching for answers for far too long. I think the flood gates are now open. The health insurance carriers and medical community will change very quickly. Many already have. I am getting care from my gyno and MY health insurance covers me. No woman should EVER justify the clarification of a definition of woman! I am so saddened and angered that it is felt necessary. We also shouldn't have to define ourselves as "cis". WE are women. Men who wish to dress and act and live as the caricature of a woman are still men and always will be. Women need to stand our ground against this wholesale gaslighting of our entire gender and the move to degrade our lived experiences as women.

    If a woman takes hormone replacement therapy until her menopause symptoms disappear, does she still need to start taking hormones if she has no symptoms? Some recommendations to alleviate menopause symptoms include exercise, increased fiber intake, and stress reduction. However, I personally maintain low insulin levels by following an animal-based diet without vegetables (sometimes consuming berries), which means zero fiber. I do not engage in any formal exercise routines but do engage in activities such as yard work and walking. Additionally, I avoid social media and TV to reduce stress.

      If you want to stop hormones after your menopause symptoms are under control then please go slowly and wean yourself. I can tell you from personal experience that stopping hormones cold will trigger awful withdrawal symptoms. Replacement hormones work by bindi ng to estrogen receptors and if you stop abruptly the menopausal symptoms will come back

      Eat a healthy diet, manage your weight, do exercise, like yoga, pilates, walking, etc.. For cardio. Lift weights if you can for strength training, get plenty of sleep etc.. We as women need to implement this in our early 40s itself and if possible in when we are in 30s so we will be prepared when perimenopause/menopause hits us like a ton of bricks.

    curious what the women around the world experience as far as these men o pause symptoms. I wonder how normal it considering American women are being systematically poisoned in almost any way possible. It's important to look at nutrient components like Iodine as well

      Disease would transfer much more easily between humans, than it would from another species. Insulin for diabetics used to come from pigs, not sure if it still does.

    this researcher has too much affection for menopause being "natural" and therefore having a "purpose". No, nature never planned for us to live so long. Nature's done with me but I ain't done with her!!'

    I do not believe that women have been complaining about menopause symptoms for “thousands of years” as the guest says. Why are we medicalizing a normal part of women’s lives??

    • @questioneverything1776
      @questioneverything1776 Місяць тому

      In the past we didn’t live that long to deal with living the last 1/3 of our lives without estrogen. “Medicalizing” menopause is Drs throwing antidepressants and other drugs at women that doesn’t help with the root issue of losing estrogen. The biggest killer of women is heart disease which is directly related to the loss of estrogen. Ppl don’t consider giving ppl thyroid meds or insulin for hypothyroid or diabetes as “medicalizing”. If men’s testes dried up by age 50 and had no more testosterone there would be a race to give them the testosterone they need and wouldn’t consider them whining and complaining over a ‘natural’ change. If you’ve never been through perimenopause or menopause yet you have no idea all the symptoms and struggles that women go through with the depletion of estrogen.

      I would have liked to hear about what she would consider to be a minimal recommended dose of estrodial and progesterone. Since this is relative to brain health, I don’t know where else we’d get this information at this point. Is it the lowest dose-like what seems to be what is being recommended by the North American Menopause Society’s Position Stand?

    Sorry to say but this lady's advice doesn't work for women of Asian decent and Asian heritage ( Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cambodian, Vietnamese) or middle eastern decent or middle eastern heritage or indian decent Indian heritage etc.. And I highly doubt it works for women of Italian decent or heritage or Mediterranean heritage.
    It probably only works for Caucasian women. Genetic makeup says alot about what kinds of diseases a woman is bound to get.
