Hi Nobby. That unfortunate collision seemed to be when the mini was in the area with dark background. Wonder if that is why the Mavic did not see it. Now to follow and see the accident investigation. Amazing amount of water around and in the Trent. Best Dave
Neither will do any form of obstacle avoidance other than from below when they are stationary, so they never would have done anything against anything coming from above or horizontally.
As Dave said below, perhaps the foliage at that low altitude made the M3 more difficult to see from the Mini's POV. I've done this same type of test with my Mavic 1 and a huge Typhoon I have but at 30 feet in the air. Kept the Q500 hovering and ran the Mavic at it slowly in Normal mode. The Mavic spots it every time. Doesn't go around it, rather, it simply comes to a halt. Cheerio Mate from Calif.

That's darn near funny, but not.
I can laugh about it now 😁 they live to fly again 👍 thanks 🙏
same test with blade protectors.. over grass not tarmac.. flying as low and slow as it can and probably no damage just a bounce off
Good point 👍
Thanks for that insight Nobby; sorry about the consequences though, hope you get everything sorted.
But what are the chances of a mid flight collision I wonder, to be in the same precise position and at the same altitude? Maybe 1 in 2 - 5 billion?
If I see another flyer I don’t tend to worry 🤔🫣
I think the odds are pretty stacked in our favour 👍
