Beautiful. I’m stunned how original it is. How it survived all these years without being butchered is a marvel. Great work, Ben. Loving these videos. This is your best stuff

I've seen your video with Alex in the hot hatch challenge :) I didn't know you got active as a youtuber. Awesome! Because you are the best driver, teacher and character around. I'll watch your content good sir. You deserve it Champ!!!!
We need a racing series where you have to drive between road courses around europe. Then run sprint races at each track. Parts and mechanic ride along, no support vehicles, the cars may only be touched by people riding the whole distance in the cars. Trailers allowed. And the cars have to be legal everywhere they are driven.
Lovely car. It would be interesting to have some comparison videos to other sports and touring cars of the day. The Bugatti Type 35, Alfa Romeo 8C 2300, etc. Or even the later 15/98 2 litre. Really I would just to love to hear some comparisons between these legendary prewar cars. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent episode. Shows the merit of frequent oil changes. I am reading your AM (Made in Britain) book, which also is excellent. Thanks for effectively explaining why Ian Flemming put an extra "Chitty" in front of the name of Count Zborowski's racing car, for his (IF) children's story car. So glad that "Jerry" did not find Mr Brown's factory at Meltham. Why do so many interesting car companies (AM, TVR, Lotus, Bentley, Lagonda...) go bust?
My late Grandfather restored a '31 and '32 Buick (startlingly different cars!) and I was lucky enough to drive both; but it's truly amazing this Aston is from the exact same time period. Whenever I see an older racecar, my mind usually turns to thoughts of flogging it hard around the track. This one, though? For whatever reason, no, maybe because it seems like a dignified "old gent" of a car. A lightly spirited drive, perhaps, while marveling at the sheer chutzpah of racers from those bygone eras going flat out.
gosh I love the prewar cars and especially seeing them race, it's so completely different even from racing in ehe 50s. is this the oldest racing car you've driven, or at least for the youtube channel? ........... would you drive the beast of turin if they let you?
Same age as my two-seater Morris Minor. These are my favourite Aston-Martins. You can't get a more raw driving experience than something from the vintage-era. That steering wheel has far too much movement in the rim for me though. The little Morris has a solid wheel and I prefer that on the bendy bits.
Imagine if the GT cars today had to be road legal with production engines. GT3 was supposed to sort of be that but it went so far off the rails, they're basically full prototype gt cars.
I had a hard time understanding you at points, putting in english subtitles would nice/simple solution to help people understand you when it gets loud.
The very essence of a racing car. I’d rather watch this vintage of racer shoot it out than the bludy awful F1 debacle I’ve just witnessed this afternoon 😁
@@BenCollinsDrives Just of to left of Mulsanne corner. Lived there when I was working for DAMS.👍 Nice to think the French had respect for the great Marque!
@@frednerk5959 ah ok - think there's a lot of mutual respect there which is another reason to love it. Never get seeing all the locals cheering the British number plates filing past their homes, genuine bonhomie - love it
No flappy paddle shifter but that steering wheel sure does flap about🤣👍🇬🇧🇺🇲
Some say his balls of steel lower the center of gravity of every vehicle he drives!
I've heard rumors that if he touches your car his essence will increase it to its peak potential. And just being near him makes you a better driver.
Some say that stig from top gear is his little brother.
Just the man to drive a 91 year old Aston Martin. Loving the book!
4 more cars on the way!
That 91yr old Aston is stunning. The flex on the steering wheel looks terrifying

The Viper!!!
Mr. Collins - This was lovely! Really enjoying your channel. Please keep up the good work.
Awesome job as always Ben.
It doesn't always have to be a really interesting or crazy car, we'd all tune in for a MK4 golf review
Haha maybe I'll give it a go! Got a few plans this year.
That’s a great car. I love the style of these older vehicles
I want to see a four muskateer Grand Tour road trip with Ben Collins as the guest driver. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!
Lol the movement in that steering wheel :D
jeez, thank you freddy. i'm so glad i was led here. amazing.

I'm getting Alan DeCadenet vibes from Collins lately. It's a good thing 🙂
Gorgeous car, thanks Ben
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lucky man!
Wow.... that Aston Martin is nearly as old as Jeremy... lol :P

Lightly spirited is the best way to drive this car! It does love being driven.
Suddenly Ben went from Stig to Robocop 😁
I was close to getting away with sunglasses but the Elf n Safety got involved and Robocop was reborn
@@BenCollinsDrives I guess you had 15 seconds to comply 😬
Awesome 👌
Glad you enjoyed! 4 more to come!
That steering wheel wobble is crazy. Was it built like that?
It's never mentioned where you and the Top Gear boys finished when you did that 24 hour brit car race, so where did you finish?

Have you ever driven the Aston Martin Ulster Ben,i think it followed the LM8 from 1933 to 1935

Is the steering wheel supposed to be that wobbly?
I think so
It's made of sprung steel to reduce vibration
Love the show. I double dog dare you to guest drive an Edge Arm car from Performance Filmworks............and ride a dirt bike with Dirtbike Academy!
😮
Gaaaaawd, anybody could drive one of those ;)
I swear the guy driving in the flat cap was Nigel Farage 😆
LoL - it can't have been because it didn't stop outside a pub!

Something about these older cars. 4 more videos on the way. Some serious cars coming up.
Time for a patreon?

That steering wheel looks decidedly "flimsy"!
Looks pretty good for 91 years old!
@@BenCollinsDrives certainly hope to be that functional if I make it that far!
Where is W O Bentley park ? Please answer in the comments.
No Bentleys in this series I'm afraid
