You know Mary Sunshine, you just elevated your credential as 😇 tutorial trail angel! You have a wealth of information and it is good you are sharing that knowledge with others who are looking to thru-hike the PCT. That towel trick with your clothes will also help "iron" it too. My friend's grandie use to "iron" all the kids shirts that way. Ingenious! Many hikers don't pre-plan, so they end up spending a lot more money. Pre-planning is a smart way to hike. It also mitigates all those extra zeros that eat away at the budget. Know before you go is a good practice. Thanks for the tips! Happy trails! 🌺
your video keep getting better and better. Please keep them ideas and tip coming. I am taking notes for my own PCT Dream Trip. oh wow that Salad looked fantastic :) BTW- Minimalist is the way to go. Glad you made it safe out of Tehachapi. Safe&Happy Trails and Thanks for sharing. Learning and making notes daily !
Thanks for all the info and useful tips Mary, love your approach to the challenges.Trail is suiting you,you look fighting fit.Wishing you the Very best of fortune for the journey ahead!
You beat the 🐜 this morning. That’s a great 👍🏻. Beautiful scenery poppies, wind generators, desert 🌵 wild sage and the like. Great idea to call home before hitch hiking. Shout out for trail magic and trail angels. Thank you for sharing the tips on town time & chores. OMGoodness that salad looked most delicious. Trail = Instant happiness! Thank you for sharing your journey...day by day. Stay well, safe & hydrated 💐 😜 😊 Blessings to you.
Now , that was a great video. Lot’s of good information. Another tip to add to your towel drying is to use a Sham Wow towel. They are super absorbent and you can use them on the trail . I specifically use them for socks and underwear. You can get them on Amazon or Walmart. It’s amazing how fast things dry out. Well done!
Hello Mary, happy day to you. Hopefully you will get some good rest and nourishment in Tehachapi, then you will be ready for the next challenging week on the PCT. You are certainly well organized. The very best to you for all things good. 🤗
You’re just too cute for words....that you packed up and ran off before the ants “woke up” is just so very funny! Thanks for the joy you bring to us all
Mary you and the scenery look amazing. What a wonderful idea to show what you do in town and how you plan your next section. Bit frightening about the first hitch 😳 happy hiking my inspirational sweetheart 😘
Nice job Mary 👍 Now, just out of curiosity, were there no laundry mats to use,? Or not enough time for getting that kind of clean?? Once you know how many days of travel r ahead do you make a meal plan? Or, just hit the grocery isles and throw it together as you go?? Hopefully these are some of the questions that others who are planning might be wondering about. I know you enjoy photography and have a lot of gear, but on this trip are you strictly using your cell phone for photo/videography?? If so what phone r u using?? R u using a 'dead kitty' w mic adapter?? Enuf ????, Thanks for sharing😊 Now get out there and keep on rocking the free world ☺️
The hitching is risky. Good that there were two of you and you made a sharp exit. I would rather pay for some transport - taxi - but I guess that is not always possible.
Mary We would love to send you some treats. Love your videos. Tell what you like and where we can send it. Don’t tell us where you are at just tell us where to send it. ( For Safety Reasons) The Wolf Pack Kim, Sam and Leo With Love from Texas
Hi Mary, thank you very much for the useful tips. I will be hiking the trail next year and my biggest fear is hitching hiking. What kind of excuses did you and your friend make when you wanted to get out of the car?
I make a point of saying I have a tracker on me first (my Garmin) and that my friends have seen where I am. I then said they have just messaged to say they are just up ahead and can I be dropped off now so they can pick me up/or at the next service station for example. I’ll also pretend to be on a call and have a fake conversation saying where i am etc.
Love your videos! My biggest fear is hitching and it's a weirdo. I'm glad you're showing what to do because I'm thinking about next year and have no idea what to do. I've bought books but seeing someone show you is sometimes better. Thank You 🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾🏕🏕🏕🏕🏕🏕😁😁😁😁😁
For someone that don't like towns you spend more time there than anyone else that i follow ...at this rate its going to take you 3 years to finish....like the tip about drying out your clothes...keep hiking
To be able to edit all my footage, upload videos and plan resupplies I do have to spend time in towns, more so than most. In some places just to upload one 5-10minute video can take over 6hours!! Editing each one takes me at least 2-3hours and I don’t get time on trail to do this often

Always trust your intuition about people on trail. If you get a bad feeling don't ignore it. You guys did the right thing.
California poppies! When I was a kid the sides of the highways would be lined with those.

Great interesting video Mary. it's good to be able to see what you need to do in town and seeing the boxes that you fill and send on. Well done x
Thanks for showing town activities! Looking forward to seeing camp ones too. Happy trekking!
YES on your idea about showing what gets done at camp and town. Thanks. That was great. John from MI

"Mind my mucky feet," then shows the cleanest hiker feet I've ever seen.

Good info for people. The views are great. Your right most people only show the trail. The person you are hiking with is from where??
Tehachapi has a great Trail Angel network. Good hiker town in general. The residents are really kind and generous to hikers.,
Good video. Thanks for the clothes drying tip. Hike On!

4.03 Joshua trees in the backround. I believe.

Fun fact: the Golden Poppy is the state flower of California (it looks orange).

You'll be so sad when you reach Canada and you won't be on the trail again.
