    What would be the best way to remove the sunscreen from the neck area? I tend to shower in the AM and I wasn’t sure if I could use the same cleansers to remove from my face to my neck area as well?

      Hey! :)
      What cleanser and sunscreen do you use? Personally, I prefer to wash off my sunscreen in the shower, as this allows me to reach every area where I have applied it. However, if you prefer to remove your sunscreen above the skin, you could try using a soft washcloth, such as those designed for removing makeup. They can be very effective! :)

    I got very sensitive skin with damaged skin barrier, and dermatologist prescribed me one mineral water resistant sunscreen for sensitive skin, and also avene extremely gentle face wash lotion as cleanser. Both products are great, but this cleanser is not taking this sunscreen off. I am using double cleanse method with inkey list oat balm and later the avene one, but this way my skin gets red and irritated with so much cleansing... What should I do to avoid the sensitization? :( swap to chemical sunscreen or maybe use as first step some gentle miceral water with the cotton pad? :( I'm really worried what to do

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  4 місяці тому +1

      Hey! 😊 May I ask, where are you from and do you have a lot of sun exposure? Or do you stay mainly indoors and avoid the sun? Because if you're not exposed to the sun most days, then there's no need to apply sunscreen daily. Just use it when it's really needed. As for removing your sunscreen, the best thing you can do is use a balm cleanser. Two that I really like are Beauty of Joseon Cleansing Balm and Geek & Gorgeous Mighty Melt Cleansing Balm.

      Well, try it, but all the chemical sunscreens I have tried so far came off with regular cleansers; only the minerals are causing issues. Still, sometimes they come better/easier off with an oil/balm cleanser. But you need to test it since so many formulations are available.

    Hi Melissa.
    The routines you demonstrate helped me a lot! Have you any suggestions about removing water resisting sunscreen from the body? Using a balm cleanser I don’t think it would be possible and also it would be very costly.

      Hello Mary,
      Still, you would follow the same guide as I showed in the video. But if you do it regularly, you have to find a more affordable solution, so looking for a giant bottle of oil or balm cleanser would be the right way to go. But it also depends a lot on the sunscreen, I have used The Ordinary Mineral Sunscreen to demonstrate it in this video, which is one of the most difficult to remove. Some waterproof/resistant or mineral sunscreens come actually off very quickly with a normal "regular" cleanser. So it may be worth trying a few sunscreens.

    Hi! Thank you so much your videos have been so informative. I have a question about my current skin care routine. For the last year I have done the following:
    AM: CeraVe SA face wash
    Paula’s choice 2% bha liquid exfoliation
    The ordinary niacinamide
    CeraVe lotion
    SPF 50
    Night:
    CeraVe foaming facial cleanser
    The ordinary glycolic acid toner
    Paula’s choice 2% bha liquid
    The ordinary hyaluronic acid
    CeraVe lotion.
    On sundays and Wednesdays my nighttime routine is:
    CeraVe foaming cleanser
    The ordinary aha bha peeling solution
    The ordinary hyaluronic acid
    CeraVe lotion.
    This routine has been fine but I still feel like I would like to see more of an improvement.
    I just purchased and would like to incorporate the ordinarys Buffet+copper and roc retinol correxion line smoothing eye cream but can not figure out a way to adjust my routine to include these without running into an issue. Any help would be appreciated!!

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Stephanie,
      Wow, that is a mind-blowing combination. You must have the smoothest skin in town 😉. I am impressed that you did not experience irritation while doing this.
      Buffet+Copper Peptides should not be used with exfoliating acids. So you need to change the routine and take them out and create a second routine. The Ordinary also recommends not to use it with retinol as they have similar benefits (or let's say they both accelerate the cell turnover, increasing the chance of irritation)
      Like this:
      AM:
      CeraVe SA face wash
      Buffet Copper Peptides
      The ordinary Niacinamide
      CeraVe lotion
      SPF 50
      Night:
      CeraVe foaming facial cleanser
      The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid
      Retinol Eye Cream
      CeraVe lotion
      Alternatively, you could not use the exfoliating acids or Buffet Copper Peptides on the eye contour and only use the cream there. So that you can still use the acids if you like. There are multiple possibilities just do not use them with the acids.

    Hi
    I’m currently on my accutane course and my skin is getting dryer and more sensitive. I use a very thin layer of la roche posay non tinted hydrating spf anthelios cream. And before going to bed I only use my cerave hydrating cleanser(the obly cleanser I have) to wash the sunscreen and dirt off of my face. Should I double cleanse with the cerave hydrating cleanser? I’ve been overthinking about this and I really need to figure it out.
    Thanks

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 роки тому

      If it does remove the sunscreen well, then there is no need to double cleanse, but some sunscreens (the one I showed in this video) are impossible to remove with regular cleansers, and you must use an oil or balm cleanser. It primarily happens with heavy mineral sunscreens.
      But if you feel that your face isn't clean enough or you just want to go over it again, you can do so, but from my experience, it can get drying when doing it over and over again with a regular cleanser. And balm cleansers are much better as a first step since they a very gentle and smooth on the skin.

      @@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you so much for replying. The sunscreen I use(la roche posay hydrating cream with spf) is a chemical sunscreen and it is really light weight, regardless of it’s light weight I still only use a very thin layer on my face fearing that it might get to hard to wash off later and also I hate the greasy and shiny look a sunscreen creates when its heavily layered. But anyways thank you so much for replying again, your videos are fantastic and helpful. You’re really a life saver

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 роки тому +1

      @@rashidalfehaidi2874 Have you tried many formulations? Because from my experience, it is primarily a formulation issue. The one I currently use (COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream) does not feel heavy or greasy even if you use a fair amount (as recommended and as I show in my videos), but some others do. So it may be an issue with the sunscreen you currently use! But don't change it if you like it! But you may consider trying another formulation next time to find a better option.
      And to remove it, it does not matter; if it comes easily off with water or your regular cleanser, you can apply as much as you want, and it will still come off quickly. But for example, if you use a light coat of The Ordinary Mineral sunscreen, then there is no way to break it down with your regular cleanser; it just smears around and does not breaks through no matter how hard you try ;)

      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 роки тому +2

      Technically, you can choose any cleanser you like to do a double cleanse (or even use the same cleanser twice), and that is also a great video that I will record over the coming days.
      However, double cleansing usually refers to an oil or balm cleanser first and followed by another water-based cleanser. So the first cleanser helps to break down oil-soluble makeup/sunscreen, and the next one targets your skin type or concerns, as shown in the video. But it is not wrong to do it with the hydrating cleanser or another foaming cleanser,(if it removes your sunscreen or makeup) and then follow it with your SA cleanser. I will cover that a bit more in the video.

      Hello Danny,
      Yes, that is correct, but you can clean it with a bit of water.
      But does your shower just have one shower head? Mine also has one on the top, which I usually use to clean later on, but it is impossible to show in the video since my bathroom is so tiny. And in front, I have the glass, and the door needs to be opened while filming, as otherwise it will not work or I have to put the camera too close to myself making it wet 🤪 But just use a bit of water and clean it.
      EDIT: And if you use the balm/oil cleanser, you can just do that in front of your mirror before hopping into the shower and then start with freshly washed, clean hands so that you do not have to touch it (if you only have one) Then you can already get most of it off before proceeding.

    Hi Melissa 🤍 what if I cleanse my face with micellar water first and then use my regular face wash to remove the sunscreen?
    I do it on a daily basis as double cleansing .
    Is it fine ?

      Yes, of course. I have such a video. (ua-cam.com/video/ODP6DAfQ7mk/v-deo.html) This should just give you an example of how to do it, and it will work with mineral sunscreens and waterproof/resistant sunscreens too.
      Sometimes the micellar water cannot break down these sunscreens, but it primarily depends on your sunscreen. So if you do not have any issues, then you do not need to change it ;)
