This performance quite honestly made me cry. Seeing both bookends of Bjork's solo career merge in such a gorgeous way, from the wild-child party girl in Debut to the healing matriarch in Utopia...and that voice sounds the same after all these years! Overwhelming moment as a fan!
I love how she still holds onto and appreciates her music from 30 years ago on her first album. So much has happened since then but it is still a part of her.
The piece on her face reminds me of Hungry (isshehungry on instagram) Edit: Hungry is actually her makeup artist. So it seems she is influenced by drag a little bit
One of my all time favorites. I used to sing it acapella just to feel close to her sweet spirit in my 20s. I love how her songs can be updated and just go so easily in whatever she is currently working on. She is timeless and multifaceted. Love her forever.
Yea... She used to close out all her tours with anchor song. I feel like one of the reasons she stopped playing this song live is because nothing will ever beat those particular three minutes performed in Cambridge on that night and that moment
“I live by the ocean And during the night I dive into it Down to the bottom Underneath all currents And drop my anchor And this is where I'm staying This is my home Ég bý við sjóinn Og á nóttunni þá kafa ég níður Alveg á hafsbotninn Undir allar iður Og sett akkerið mitt út Hér vill ég vera Hér á ég heima”
@@harryhellI hope she make an album with live orchestra songs, there are well-known songs with amazing and beautiful orchestra versions specifically the songs that she sang live with the orchestra of the Teatro Colón, here in Argentina♡ ojalá que haga un disco con los vivos orquesta, tiene muchos temas conocidos versión orquestales que son increíbles, específicamente las canciones que canto en vivo con la orquesta del teatro Colón, aquí en Argentina♡ I tried to make an english version of my comment i hope it's readable lol
Bjork has always been a favourite artist for me. A genius, that entrances your heart and soul in her unique blend of music. Her sound is gorgeous, sensuous, beautiful, magical, and much more. She is a living legend that never ever disappoints in her content. Thank you sincerely Bjork, for all these incredible years of music, let your magic continue to shine.
It makes me terribly sad that I never got to see her when she was younger and her voice was much stronger. Her voice has weakened a lot but not in a bad way, plus it is a testament of how hard she has worked and how dedicated and passionate she has always been in her craft. The weariness in her voice shows all that passion she has delivered on the stage for decades. I love her so much! I am glad she continues to create and I am hopeful I will still get to see her soon.
I had the opportunity to see her live here in Argentina last year and let me tell you that her voice felt incredibly strong! Voice is a very sensitive and variable instrument, of course your statement is true and totally makes sense, but I encourage you to see her if you get the chance!

Impossible not being emotional with that! It reminds me of Debut era and maybe "Atlantic" would be so amazing to watch live! I can't wait 4 the concert this weekend!
I'm afraid "Atlantic" won't be part of the setlist in the forthcoming concerts but yeah, it's the first song I thought about when I knew she'll be touring with flutes!
I cannot get into Björk, but something about her live performances make it so magical, so unique! Like she catches you and won’t let you go. This is really so mystical!
Once again. Deep, emotional and meaningful feelings are felt from a performance and tone that only Bjork can give. Her 'Joga' track gave the same. What a musician. Love the musician that is Bjork. Their is nobody like Bjork xxx
Los instrumentos de viento y la voz de Björk hacen sentir la presentación tan orgánica, es como si la naturaleza hablará a tu oído y te hiciera entender lo perfecta que es
i feel blessed that this song has been in my life for 20+ years i was a child listening to this.. and it still gives me that same magic feeling it did then.
"Ég bý við sjóinn Og á nóttunni Þá kafa ég níður Alveg á hafsbotninn Undir allar iður Og sett akkerið mitt út Hér vil ég vera Hér á ég heima" (I saw someone had posted the English lyrics so I thought I'd add the second half / the Icelandic version. Which is called Um Akkeri, in case you wanted to know ;) (edit: she actually sings some parts differently than the lyrics but I don't know how to write it out properly so this is just gonna end up being how I hear them to be, but I'm Norwegian so I'll prolly not do *too* bad) "Ég heima við sjóinn og á nóttunni thá kafa èg níður Undir allar iður iður á hafsbotninn I look út akkeri hier vil ég vera hier á ég heima" (Ik it's grammatically incorrect at times, and that I changed part of it into English, but, like I've said, this is only an arguably more accurate version that I myself created because the actual lyrics weren't matching up to what she was singing in Icelandic.)
honestly this isnt my favorite song of hers but i believe it is her best song because thru all of its many different interpretations over the years and the distinct energy of the song hasnt been lost or diminished at all. bjork is a master of emotional intelligence with her ability to present raw convoluted confessional lyrics on top of a well balanced ambiance in a way thats easy to comprehend and never comes off as unaware or pretentious. the anchor song is about one of her grandmother's paintings and about her son and about her country and many other secret things, and it continues to leave me awestruck at how clear and simple and open it is.
I still don't understand how she haven't got the recognition she deserves among or above other artists like lady gaga for example... it makes me mad. I'm also amazed by this performance! She's always gonna be my music goddess
That's my funeral dirge, felt it first time I heard it back in 1993. It's still one of my favorite songs by her and the version I love the most is the one at the Union Chapel with the Brodsky Quartet.
In Debut era she arranged this song with saxophone. In Homogenic era with violins. And now in Utopia era with flutes. A good song will sound beautiful with any instrument.
wow !! wot a incredible live volcal performance's by björk, on later...with jools holland, of 'utopia' 'courtship' + 'debut' the anchor song' her appearance/look/vocal was , ! ... "utopian"
This is Raw Art at its unique form., this woman is exceptionally a real Artist. She does not follow no protocols or the main stream., she is truly unique. It is rear to find real real artist like Bjork nowadays.

The flutes create a depth the saxophones simply couldn't. That with the Icelandic mixed in . . . This is a tearjerker.
Amazing how good this song fits into this new utopian-sound 25 years later.
I love how she still holds onto and appreciates her music from 30 years ago on her first album. So much has happened since then but it is still a part of her.
the anchor song got stunning with the flutes
Didn’t the original have flutes in it?
Graham O'Mahony no, it did not :)
no, it got saxophones on it...
i thought it was clarinet. interesting
The strings version is my favorite, I highly reccomend it
I wish I could sing the part in Icelandic... I just love how it sounds almost like a new tune. And Björk... you betta werk that padding gurl! LOL
Gurl she was padded for the gods mama

Bjork does it again: creating a stunning melange of musical art and performance in her inimitable style.

Best live performance of this song. I love the instrumental with the flutes, it sounds the best!
Electra Froot I am so sorry... but the best performance is anchor song live in Cambridge . At 2:50 I die ^^
Yea... She used to close out all her tours with anchor song. I feel like one of the reasons she stopped playing this song live is because nothing will ever beat those particular three minutes performed in Cambridge on that night and that moment
I keep seeing your comments on random videos! I think we must have similar musical taste
are you talking to me Sam? that's iconic either way. haha.
The cambridge one was the best one i've ever heard
“I live by the ocean
And during the night
I dive into it
Down to the bottom
Underneath all currents
And drop my anchor
And this is where I'm staying
This is my home
Ég bý við sjóinn

Alveg á hafsbotninn
Undir allar iður
Og sett akkerið mitt út
Hér vill ég vera
Hér á ég heima”

The Icelandic part made me cry. Twas so beautiful...
she really loves this song
I think I’m gonna cry... 😢 I’ve never seen something so beautiful
Stunning version with all the flutes. And the second half in icelandic is gorgeous
If she did a greatest hits with just flutes I'd buy it haha
i'd buy anything she makes
Facts
I’d rather prefer an album with her greatest hits all in orchestral version
Bro imagine all is full of love with flutes i'd be in heaven

1:18 en esta parte escuché la voz de la Björk Joven. Omg, si que ha cambiado su voz pero mantiene su esencia y me encanta.
I cannot get into Björk, but something about her live performances make it so magical, so unique! Like she catches you and won’t let you go. This is really so mystical!
What an artist. She is truly one of a kind.
THE LOVE I HAVE FOR BJÖRK PERFORMING HER LEAST KNOW TRACKS AND STILL OUTSHINING ALL ARTISTS OF 2018.

Probably the best performance of Anchor Song, other than the one she sang on new year in 2000.
So soft, so sweet. It's good to hear one of her classics in such a beautiful version. Thanks, Björk.

totalmente de acuerdo
Esta y la que cantó en México cuando fue la era Vulnicura fue las que mas amé, terminó llorando cuando terminan
sip. increíble
Who else is excited for her upcoming orchestral tour 🙋 I know she just won't come to where I live but I hope she'll release it as an album 🙏

Wonderful arrangements. This masterpiece sounds perfect this way
My favorite song! I used to listen before go to school when I was a teenager. Amazing to see how still so beautiful today in 2020
What an great entrtainer she is!
Also when she speaks!
When a real artist is on the stage, the experience becomes itself in food for the soul. This is beautiful, really.

From great, to even better. Bjork is a living musical genius.

Afred Frensky She has the best kind of recognition. All of the best artists with taste respect her.
There's a difference between recognition and popularity. Despacito has far more views than any Gaga song and that doesn't make it better
happy anniversary, this wonderful song is already 25 years old! björk, you are adorable. the icelandic version is divine.
I keep coming back to this. I think this is the best version of this song. Strange but beautiful.
One of her oldest songs still fits with her recent work, amazing!
She is a genius coming from a great land....I love her!
The original has this lighthouse in a storm mood, this one is like the swans song of the spirit of Atlantis, such a beautiful revision
so much respect for her. everyone has. such a unique performance on jools
25 years later and still amazing
Everything Björk produces is amazing! She's a unique experimental talent like no other.

En cualquier era, en cualquier estilo, esta canción simplemente es HERMOSA. De mis preferidas de siempre.
My gosh what a voiceee my love
I LOVE this song with flutes. Y’all always doubt Björk with her new ideas but I’m loving the flutes in this era
Absolutely breathtaking ~!
I live in an island, and this is my theme song. This song always makes me cry, and this arrangement is the best!
This came close to be as good as the one included in the Family Tree albums, which is the best version of Anchor Song to date

Lovely. I was waiting for the fella with the glasses in the back to do something... ;)
This song is a classic! And it works amazingly well with flutes!
Such a lovely rendition of one of my fave Bjork songs

Cool I thought she just did a single song. Absolutely love this one.
Mozart didnt like flutes, bcs they sounded untuned to his ears. These sound super good, and I feel like being swimming around my anchor.
My favourite from her debut album. Stunning performace.!:))
