I have a suggestion for saving your CPD's predating on eggs. Cut course filter sponge to fit snugly in the base. Place the spawning mop on top. When the CPD's start to eat the eggs, some will escape and fall into the sponge, where they can't reach them. Move the sponge into a tank after a few days, and replace another sponge in the container. See if you get success that way.

Latch hook template for craft store zip tied down to egg crate lighting diffuser on the whole bottom of the tank. This acts as a net small enough to keep the CPDs from predation, but the latch hook squares are large enough for CPD eggs. Worked like a charm for me, just my lack of time killed it for me. Couldn’t keep up with them

This video was a great Sunday afternoon watch! I had guppies when I was 10 yrs old - (50 years ago - yikes!). My daughter has an aquarium now that my grandbabies enjoy. Trying to answer her questions a couple of weeks ago, led me to your channel. Your enthusiasm for this hobby is infectious! ... so much so, I just bought a tank to populate with some guppies for myself :) There are so many amazing colors out there now compared to 50 years ago! You also have an awesome personality and conversational style that is perfect for these videos. I will enjoy checking out out a few more! Keep up the great work, and cheers from Oregon, USA!

I've got 7 of the Ziss BBS hatcheries (one for each day of the week). Use a towel rack or make something to hang them up on the wall. It makes harvesting the BBS soooo much easier. So I breed guppies too and I use a floating basket well it doesn’t even really flow. It just kind of sits on the top of a 10 gallon tank. It’s a square pond basket by tetra and it works great. I mean out of my few fish I started with I have hundreds and hundreds of fish now and it’s very successful at keeping the moms out of the babies.

For CPD and emeralds I do trays with marbles and a little bit of moss in the middle. Each day I stick a turkey baster in between the marbles and such eggs up and every few days just go through the tray clean it get the rest of the eggs and let it go again. I do not heat mine except in winter I keep it above 18 so they keep laying. I do some outside too. I find the emeralds easier. cpd I like having 2 male 2 - 3 female in a tub top cover floating plants live food lots of live marble trays turkey baster give that a go. I had heaps of babies over winter but its dropped off now.

For your CPDs, did you try the old sußwasertang/Christmas moss in a small bin trick? It took my cpds about half a year to get comfortable and I breed them in a somewhat planted tank and they still choose to breed in the moss bin as it's more appealing.
I don't do water changes, I just top off with a nice amount of r.o. water. But thats just me.

The hatch rate is not the best because you are leaving the eggs outside at room temp.. :) try keeping them frozen till you need to hatch. What I do is keep the big box in the freezer, then decant into a small box that I keep in the fridge. Then I hatch from the fridge one, and refill as needed.
