I had the pleasure of meeting Lucas at the AGA conference in NC this year. He is a really nice guy and his style of fishkeeping is fascinating. I've said it 100 times, I love all of the different roads to travel in this hobby. Great tour KFS!
I love this tour. What a neet guy. He explained the water chemistry in a way which made a lot of sense to me. I like how he feeds over the space of the tank and does not cause the feeding frenzy which happens from putting all the food through one hole in the top cover (which he does not have). He explained the precursor sign to a tank crash. All good stuff. 😊
In 2022 I started this hobby, now I have 10 tanks and thanks to this Channel too, I learned a lot from your tours and I also started to understand this hobby. ❤ from Indo
27:31 this is just so cool and it really works. i haven’t clean my filter nor do water changes for half a year, and all the fish and plants are health.
Lucus is awsome. Ive been following him for a lot of years. I lived not far from him in Indiana before he moved. Him and keeping fish simple are probably my 2 favorite UA-camrs. great video keep up the great work!
Outstanding video! Big fan of Lucas and his knowledge! Thank you for the extensive dive in his fish room. You’re also one of my favorites, your videos are always interesting.
This is the second fish/plant channel you’ve introduced me to, I’ve now subscribed to. Thank you for sharing. I’ve enjoyed you visiting fellow fish/plant enthusiasts. Thank for you. God’s blessings to you and your family.
As a fairly new hobbyist, only been at it a couple years, this was an awesome tour. The goal of my fish keeping hobby is to have glass boxes of nature in my room. It was a tough sell when I had heavy duty canister filters, with a skimmer, CO2 hooked up, a heater, it all kinda detracted from my enjoyment of keeping fish. Beginning of this year, I weened off the high tech stuff, and swapped all my tanks over to sponge filters. I feel like my fish are happier for some reason too. Like Lucas said, nature knows what it's doing, I just test occasionally to make sure nature stays in healthy parameters for my fish, and squeeze a few sponges. Rest of the time I just sit and enjoy.
I watched this video from start to finish..... And let me tell you ive learned soo much ! im a new memeber and im glad i stumbled upon it ! please keep it up...will be catching up on all the video
That was the most insanely awesome set up ever! Officially mind blown! I've always been to scared to try a no filter tank, think i will have to experiment now. Also blown away with the fact there's no air pumps! Great in depth video, glad it wasn't broken up into episodes.
Lucas is great. Got the opportunity to meet him at aquashella in daytona earlier this month. Got to buy his synodontis lucipinnis and they are amazing!
Lucas has a wealth of knowledge. This is a great video. I've gone no filter. But I still add some air to my outdoor tubs because of how hot it gets here. I don't know exactly how Lucas does it in his tubs. My fish did great until it was consistently in the 90's and I found them at the top gasping. I immediately added air and a tent over top and they recovered. He's in hot Florida and he does it. No idea what he is doing that I'm not. He's a fish whisperer.
So much useful information during this video. Lucas gets it and it shows. All my tanks are filterless and the water comes from my well. Store bought pre washed sand doesnt do as well for me as sand/dirt from my backyard does in Florida.
This video was epic! One of your best yet. Lucas is such an interesting guy to listen to. His approach to fish keeping/breeding as well as plant raising are so different from the previous norm but make so much sense. Would be interesting to know what the 'substrate he digs out of his yard' consists of. Is it mainly light soil or sand?
This was so cool to watch! It’s funny because the most breeding always happens with me in the tanks I just leave alone and let the plants and fish do their thing. Going back to basics and letting nature run its course seems to lead to healthier and happier fish. I find the most enjoyment in that
Lucas is what you call a real professional in the fish hobby. So for all of you people that have nothing good to say about him i believe that you are the ones that don't know a thing about this hobby. A fish tank or aquarium isn't supposed to be an immaculate box of water, it's a very small echo system in a small container as best duplicated as possible. I can't stand you haters ! Lucas knows more about fish keeping than the average Utuber .
Lucas has the most unique voice and accent. I can't really place it. Sounds a bit southern but also midwestern. Also he has a relaxing and calming quality to it.

The plant discussion about oxygenation at night is very interesting to me. I am looking at doing a tank similar to his at the moment and one of the things I've done is buy a small underpowered airstone and airpump (for the size of the tank) purely because I am terrified of my fish dieing at night.

With someone that has tinnitus and noise sensitivity, your aquarium room setup is very inspirational. Thanks Lucas
But isn’t moving water good? I know you were mentioning the sound pollution. I get that. Just the whole time I thought “What about circulation???”
No, if you had tinnitus mate, you'd know you need a background "noise" so you can't hear it. A "silent" room like that would not be good
