- Himank, also styled Project HIMANK, is a project of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in the Ladakh region of northernmost India that started in August 1985. It is known for constructing some of world's highest motorable roads across the Khardung La, Tanglang La and Chang La passes. Umling la is the highest motorable road on Earth with height 5882 metres (19300 feet). It is responsible for constructing and maintaining motorable roads in Ladakh, along the Line of Actual Control. Himank project ensures access to sensitive military areas including the world's highest battleground at the Siachen Glacier and Pangong Tso Lake (at 4420 metres or 14500 feet), whose waters span the de facto India-China border. Nicknamed "The Mountain Tamers", much of Himank's work is constrained to four months per year, as heavy snow and extreme cold make some roads inaccessible at other times. Between 1987 and 2002, at least 124 Himank personnel were killed while on duty in Ladakh, including five officers. Most of its manual labourers are from Bihar state, not Ladakh. They are nicknamed Dumkas (earlier in the Bihar state and now in the Jharkhand state), where many of the original Himank workers were recruited.
There are three routes to reach Umling La Pass.
1) Hanle - Ukdungle - Nurbula - Chisumle - Umling La = around 90 kms
2) Hanle - Nurbula - Chisumle - Umling La = 65 kms
3) Hanle - Pothila Pass- Chisumle - Umling La = around 105 kms
Locals know one more route also.

Bhai Mera ek bada doubt hai ki MT15 me saddle bag or pillion ko baithate hai jisse bike me weight padta hai to kya MT15 ki PERFORMANCE me koi effect ata hai hai ...like bike ki Speed kaam hona, Power low feel hona, ya engine me pressure pada kuch or bhi
Jaise jaise aap weight badhaoge to fark to padega hi.
Par itna nhi padta.
With pillion mileage mein 4-5 kmpl ki mileage me fark padta he.
18 PS iski power he.
30-35 hoti to pta na chalta, but itni me to dikhega hi thoda.
Bro I'm interested in buying mt 15. How was the engine after the trip any problems after long trip? Since it's light weight hows the stability in 100 km/hour
Bro upto 110 kmph it is good.
Stability is good.
No any problem in engine after my ladakh trip.
Bike is beast in its segment.
You can definitely go for it. 👍
@@rahulsharma559 Anyways I dont drive more than 80-100 that's my cruising speed. I was going through many options such as hunter 350, apache 200, ns 200 and was even ready to stretch my budget upto 2.5 lakhs to check out duke 200 and gixxer 250.however MT has always captured my heart ❤️ I know its a 155 cc bike but If i carry a pillion for steep hills will it struggle very much? And thank you very much for your response bhai
Go with Luggage carrier that I installed on my bike. You can install Back rest on it.
There is little problem with pillion if weight is more than 65.
Otherwise no problem.
In steep hills some Bullet 350, Himalayan failed with Single rider but MT do with pillion.
You can see in my vlogs, I ride to umling la, nurbula, Photilla top with pillion on MT.
There is lag but if compared with bullet it is beast.
Apache, NS are different not wise quantity but quality wise if conpared with MT.
If your budget is 2.5 & your hight is 5.8 go for KTM adventure 250.
@@rahulsharma559 I'll check out the luggage carrier Bro. I recently went to yamaha showroom and the waiting period is 75-90 days and anyways I'm fine with it. I don't tour with pillion normally just wanted to know how it performs. Sure Bro I'll check out other vlogs too thank you
nice video g
AAP kitne din ghume ho Ladakh Mt 15 pe or kitna approx cost aaya Bhai

Which rear tire you are using for MT15?
At the time of this trip 140x70 Radial tyre i used.
At present i change this from 140x70 Radial to 140x70 off Road Tyre
Royale Enfield classic 350 or mt15?
As per my Choice MT in term of mileage & performance specially in Ladakh area.
In terms of comfort & Suspension classic is good.
So basically Mt is better in terms of mileage n long journeys?
Yes in terms of mileage & performance. Comfortable is bit lesser than Royal Enfield.
Rest choice is different for each & every person.
offroading ke liye kaunsa tyres use karte ho?
Is trip me vahi tha jo company fitted tha 140×70 radial, Now changed with 140×70 off road मोटी गुड्डी wala
I have bought mt 15 in 2020 ..is mt safe for laddakh.. trip and how to install carrier.
Mt15 is safe, but ride gently in offroads specially where too many big stones. Little chance to hit coolent reservoir at bottom. Otherwise perform. In my journey i ride gently in all kimd of off roads & no any difficulty at all enroute. Buy carrier from amazon Sold by JB racing. Easy to install in just 15 minutes.
I am 5 feet 2 inch. Will I be able to ride the bike?
You can ride but difficulty in ride in off roads.
@@rahulsharma559 on plain roads or uphill/downhill, will it be uncomfortable?
Little difficulty you faced on off roads where you have to put your feet during running of bike. Otherwise ok for you
Mileage
50 plus
Bhai aapne jo ladakh or ushke aas paas jagah ghumi hai ushme kine din lage the muje bhi Ladakh trip karni hai or mere pass mt 15 v1 hai or kiya aapko petrol ki koi dekat huvi thi ?
Agar ache se ghumna he to 15 days max ka tour bnao.
Aur petrol ki jarurat sirf Hanle me padi vahan koi petrol pump nhi he.
did you feel any lack of power in mt in long trips and highways ??
No power lag in long trips & highways.
Specially in plain region.
You will feel little lag in hills specially in leh ladakh area where there is lack of oxygen.
In highway it is beast in its segment
Day 1 of our journey is so long appx 348km.
Covered in 10 hrs. Drive in hills.
@@rahulsharma559 Could do more i think 500 ???
Yes. No any issue
@@rahulsharma559 great 👍🏻 btw nice video❤️
Shoe konsa hai ?
Gum boot.
Cheapest & reliable.
@@rahulsharma559 thanks ye boot ke andar kya pahnana hai ?
Nahi.
Jahan pta hota he water crossings aayenge vahan Shoes utar kar bag me pack kar rakh liye the, aur Gum boot pehne rakhe.
@@rahulsharma559 accha . Also If possible make a video of all your accessories , gears, backpack item for your laddakh trip
@amitdash10 ok. Jaroor.
Necessary and must required items for Ladakh trip.
1. Gum boots.
2. Rain cover
3. Puncture kit & air pump
4. Warm clothes like jacket, Cap, muffler, winter gloves etc.
5. Rain cover for your bags.
6. Chain spray
7. Spare tube if your bike don't have Tubeless tyres.
8. Tools ( Adjustable wrench, Spanners)
9. Jerry Can for carrying Fuel. (In my case not required as my bike run more than 450+ km in full tank)
10. Riding rear to protect knees, Elbows
I want to ask u 1 thing how is its performance with a pillion with 50 55 kg weight and luggage aproxx 60-80 litres
Performance was good if travelling in plane areas, little difficulty at hill but not that too much. Rest bike is performing too good in terms of mileage also
@@rahulsharma559 I'm just worried about pillion if i have to ride solo then without doubt this is the best i can get
Yes but see my vlog to Umling la pass which is world highest pass at extream condition, less oxygen but MT reached there with Pillion.
No doubt of its power without pillion. 😊
@@rahulsharma559 pillion+ luggage?
Luggage nil, but pillion weight is 75kg appx
Aap ek video main batavo ki Ladakh trip main keya lejana chahiye or keya dikate aati hai
