- Kind of scary when your that far out in the woods by yourself. I went exploring and brought my Fisher F19 metal detector to see what I could find for old New England history and home sites. My plan was to hike all the way out to the mysterious are with all the piles of stacked rocks and take the long way around. I left a colonial farm at the back cornier of the rock walls and started hiking. It was an hour hike with very little signs of human activity and pretty remote terrain to say the least. I got all the way out to the big river and had to find a safe place to cross.....a nice old wet log had to do. So I did not expect to find any cellar holes or foundations out here but really wanted to see what the land around the piles of stacked stones was like. it was crazy! I really wonder what these people were doing out here hundreds of years ago. A great day of exploring and metal detecting not knowing what path I was going to be able to take to get out of there.

It's a mystery, you got to do some trekking, a sketchy river crossing and that's a great Not Thursday to end the week.
Here in Western Maine, a grouping of stone piles were determined to
be native in origin by a team of archeologists...right behind my house!
Something to think about.
Charlie those stacked rocks, were put there by Native Indians! They are spiritual, possibly burials around. That sure is some rough country, those game paths are the same paths, when the natives where around! Stay safe out there! God Bless you guys! (Glen) WV. You can google about those stacked rocks!
Another History Mystery. Its so intriguing of what they were doing way out there and the purpose of it. You always manage to figure it out Charlie. I have confidence in you will eventually find the reason. Love the video. Can't wait for the next one😊
Hey Y'all, hope all's well with everyone/thing! Keep up the good work and vids... Be safe and take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 😇🙏👊
Could that type of stacked rock be graves?
Hi Charlie,I have a song alert on this Not Thursday. Circa around 1975. 🎼🎵🎶🎵 Don’t cross the river if you can’t swim the tide…🎼🎶🎵 By: America. My moneys on you Charlie, you always swim the tide. Thank you for the beautiful scenery, sounds of the river and your company. Joyce ❤️🙏🇺🇸
Maybe they were piling the stones up to use later, but never did
I'd love to have a cabin near that creek! Great scenery!
Thank you Charlie for the adventure and seeing some beautiful scenery !
Great video Charlie! Thanks for the content. It’s inspiring to watch you trek through the forest
Over the river and through the woods to great great great great grandmothers house we go!!!!! LOL.
Thanks for the video Charlie. Hope you are having a great weekend.
One of the best videos in a while, really enjoyed the long form thought process. More please
I feel like you should be trout fishing out there.
Hi Charlie, really enjoying this trip back 🤙😎
Maybe the loggers set up temporary cabins in a spot that was cleared by colonials.
Love the river
damn! that little spot on the river is Beautiful, id have to carry a fly rod along with the metal detector.
Enjoyed 👍
Hola amigo, gran aventura y excelentes hallazgos, muy interesante lugar 🙋♂️, saludos cordiales desde chile 🙋♂️🇨🇱⛏️🗝️👍💪🤜🤛🙏😊🗡️🔓🛡️
Cool adventure Charlie!
Gotta love itttttt
pretty much what I climbed through today
They were logging.
❤❤❤❤❤😊
Charlie,
With all the time you spend in the deep forest, what if any strange, weird or even encountered anything that didn't make it on film or you don't want to talk about.
Maybe the beginning of bounders markers
That area has only been out from under the two mile thick ice for about nine thousand years and it probably took another three or four thousand years before full forests were able to cover the entire area and once the colonists clear cut everything and allowed heavy rain erosion to wash away what little topsoil had developed crop returns likely went downhill quick.
So me and a friend were detecting a very old, very remote spot in north western Connecticut last week, we went though 3 very old, very square stoned in former fields, as we got to the third, we started noticing stacked rocks, 6-8 feet across and 4 or 5 feet high. As we started paying more attention to these, we counted more than 25. I said to my friend, “ why would they pile them in the working part of the field?” Then it dawned on me, these were Native American graves. My friend googled it when we got back to the house and the almost exact image popped up and they looked just like your pile there in New Hampshire. Very creepy to say the least.
Boundarie marker piles?
Are the stacked rock mounds from early settlers or even older from Native American life?
Where is the bear? The last u turn you made confused him.
I think Indians burial sites are rock mounds.
could they have stacked it on what they thought was their boundary? or were they just random areas?
Inquiring minds want to know! - SB
Seams like I saw something like that created by the Indians. Can't remember why.
Chris you can google it, search stacked rocks in the mountains. They where put there by Native Indians, they are very spiritual. (Glen). WV.
You also can find them on youtube.
