- In this video we show you how easy it is to get away for a camping trip to Hopkin's Prairie and dispersed camp for free in Ocala National Forest. It is such a beautiful setting, it will take your breath away.
Because of its location, camping here in ONF at this location can be a part of an off-road or overland adventure that you are currently planning. The area is also along the route of The Florida Adventure Trail (F.A.T.), so definitely include it as part of your overlanding trip, if you are doing the FAT.
We were lucky to join up with @OverlandFlorida and @4wdAdventurz on this quick one night out. We set up camp, made a fire, and were able to hang out and have a great time with friends.

We love camping here. Now that we are having cooler weather, we look forward to getting out an enjoying. So happy to have the National Forest so close.
I was just there this weekend doing “dispersed” camping. It was beautiful but arm yourself people. That area has had murders and bodies found in the past. When I went there was a memorial on a tree for someone. Protect yourself is a dangerous place
We did some off-roading in Ocala National Forest this past weekend We opted for an organized campground vs dispersed due to it being general gun hunting seasons.
In any dispersed situation, there is a need to be situationally aware and have the mean to ensure your safety.
The dumpsters are those brown rectangular devices

There like that so bears dont get in a big dumpster and throw trash in them and scare people if they get stuck in them. Rangers go out there and clean them every so often.

Is the road on Google maps that goes all around the lake labeled as "Florida National Scenic Trail" doable in a 2WD vehicle? How many dispersed camp spots would you guess there are? Are you going to South East Overland Expo?
The Florida Trail, which is on the north side of the prairie is a hiking trail, and not accessible by vehicles. Hikers can camp there. Where we were along the south side is accessible by 2WD. We will be at the expo. We will be camping, and we are meeting up pre-entry to camp as a group. Check out FB page for time and place
