A team of special force ops, led by a tough but fair soldier, Major "Dutch" Schaefer, are ordered to assist CIA man, Colonel Al Dillon, on a rescue mission for potential survivors of a Helicopter downed over remote South American jungle. Not long after they land, Dutch and his team discover that they have been sent in under false pretenses. Just the fact they came in shooting no questions asked covering Mac makes this scene for me
A sensational moment, the emotions of a soldier who has just lost a friend, a great camera angle, music (Alan Silvestri) that reaches the tone of a minigun and shooting. Goosebumps!
Agreed the camera angle with Mack Running up. We honestly didn't deserve this movie, I keep watching it and just keep finding more and more amazing things about it.@@kingstonvaliu

Bill Duke as “Mack” did an incredible job in his role, he’s like the glue that puts the scenes together. Rest In Power Carl Weathers 🙏🏾
For real, he owns every scene.
@@obatron1I’m going have me some fun.
Mac was Bill Duke, not Carl Weathers, sir. He was Dillon.
@@seanlivingston8789 I’m very aware of that, which why I typed “Bill Duke as “Mack”.
I also honored Carl Weathers at the end of my comment, because he recently passed away when this comment was made.
@@JayBelafonte thought so, sir. Just had to make sure, my apologies.
Here for Mr. Weathers, RIP. What a scene. Love how they all just opened up. (And yea, they expended more ammo than a battalion, but a great scene.)
Carl Weathers was a fantastic actor, he will never be forgotten by those who know him.
I like when later Mack says he “capped off 200 rounds in the mini gun”. That’s less than three seconds of sustained fire in the real world.
Still a badass scene in an all-time badass movie.
@@sickofitall8486 yes, the logistical impossibility of a single soldier lugging around not only the minigun itself, let alone the weight of the ammunition and power source, not to mention the inaccuracy of hip firing are issues that will never be addressed. But still, gun go brr!

Predator is a film the guys can enjoy with a couple of beers.
the shootout is the maximum testosteron value ever reached in a movie. I really love this scene. also after the minigun is fully unloaded the continous spinning of the barrel is creating a tone that keeps the tension like a long setted violine sound in a horror movie. its absolutley perfect.
... it has been 36 years and still there´s no match for this movie with its combats, scenes and most importantly the cast that gaves us an EPIC action /sci-fi history that will remain and pass along generations ... a TOTAL MASTERPIECE ... poor Blain never saw the plasma shot and then how Dutch´s squad clears the jungle is just AMAZING!!! ...

RIP Carl Weathers. LEGEND. 💪
When I was in the Marine Corps, the Vietnam vets told me about scenarios like this in Vietnam. They called it a "mad minute".
We still use that term when initiating an ambush in the Army. The "mad minute" is when the assault element (of an ambush) annihilates the kill zone and everyone in it on the designated signal. In this case, Mack's "contact" report and subsequent fire was the signal.
No leader of a group will fire blindly no knowing what they are firing at. This is a death blossom after receiving contact and shooting out with out a target. Mack was shook at what he saw and began firing his teammates just shot at nothing. Hence the death blossom. Mad minutes like you stated are planned attacks.
The fuck we won't. @@bleedzacid
That type of hesitation is what get more people killed. If they hadnt responded that way, more people would have probably died. Their best weapon platform was just eliminated and their position was compromised. Theyre a small team with no backup and no nearby exit. A skilled pointman is shooting tracer rounds into a specific direction. With that much foliage, grazing fire would be ideal though it was over dramatized.
Thats enough information to recognize theirs a very big threat in that vector and theres nothing wrong with trying to overwhelm an enemy that has been shrinking, confusing and demoralizing your unit. Its hollywood dramatic but this type of behavior was common in Afghanistan engagements. Sometimes there would be an entire squad doing mag dumps just to be on the safe side.
FPF Final Protective Fire. Fire every weapon at maximum rate, 0 to 6 ft sweeping your sector.

You're right.
But i really think that Denis Villeneuve could create an action movie just as epic as this, given the right script and the right actors.

So true. Although I did enjoy Prey!

As a die hard pred 1 fan, I found the bear fight highly memorable & entertaining.

If this film were made today, it would be considered an excess of masculinity... God, how I miss the films of the 90s. Predator was notable for its references, suspense, surprise and the environment created around all the characters that nowadays I consider this film to be one of the best. I still see the film as if it had been released at the cinema yesterday. , the adrenaline is still present. What a classic👌( r.i.p Carl Weathers)
THE original predator, came out in theaters BACK in 1987..... I was 17😊😊😊😊
When I went into the Theater to watch this film in 1987, I was a 16 year old, when this movie was over, I came out of the Theater a man! Predator is Cinema perfection!

I remember this being the only R Rated movie I wasnt allowed in without a parent. My friend and his dad just finished watching it and was like, "I dont mind going to see it again!" We all went that night to see it. I was stoked. Cant believe its been this long already. This movie and Aliens are what saved the studios and it basically revolutionized what an Action Movie was about. When Duke picked up that mini gun the theater went bananas.... "Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeahhhhhhhh!!!!!!" This scene STILL gives me that feeling today
What made this movie so realistic is that it was pure luck that Arnold's character didn't die with the rest of his crew. The predator almost achieved full sweep victory until Arnold falls in the mud by accident.
There is a deleted scene where the predator is toying with him. He could’ve killed him earlier, but wanted to play around with him first.
It’s been nearly 40 years and nothing comes close to this scene!

This is probably my most favorite movie scene in cinematic history.
Training and firepower all to no avail.
Also the scene illustrates when faced with a threat they couldn’t comprehend they all lost their composure firing in panic.
Not often seen in movies when heroes are always composed.
That mini gun was a beast!
The mere fact that one of the members screamed and shot was enough for no one to ask, just protect the situation, a fantastic scene, by the way, Billy was always my favorite character.
A war flick turned sci turns horror before finding out who truly was the bad guy(s). Absolutely epic storytelling.
“I don’t drop character till

One of the most primal scenes in this entire film is when Mack releases that desperate & angry "CONTAAAAACT!!!! MOTHERFUCKEERR!
i like how they all join in to shoot whatever the heck he's shooting at without knowing what the heck they're shooting at. :p
Exactly
Might be more realistic than you think. I once did an infantry exercise with midshipmen at MCDEC in Quantico, VA. When we made contact with the "enemy" the guys in my platoon took off and ran around in the woods firing (blanks) totally at random. It was just chaos. For me it corroborated accounts of Afghan fighters who cooperated with US forces, who said when the Americans got spooked they would fire in every direction with no idea what they were shooting at.
@@Stacie45 Funny that, I had an American former soldier telling me that the Afghans often just shot in the general direction without knowing what they were shooting at. Maybe in reality no one has any idea what they're shooting at...... x_x

Robocop and Predator came out the same time if I remember rightly. Both brilliant movies. Looking back you kinda took films like this for granted.
They're not making movies like that anymore. 😞 Timeless classic.
50 years will go by…and the “lawnmower” scene will still be remembered. It was as full of testosterone as it was of bullets.
The green brigade are still in tears over the partial destruction of a rain forest, still great to watch though.
This scene has more testosterone than all action films in past 10 yrs combined
One of the best scenes in movie history. Gives me goosebumps every time I see it. Scene is a great pre-workout too.💪🏾
One can only marvel at the lack of fire discipline....
The mini-gun and its high pitched screech as it spins on empty, Mack letting go realizing his gun is dry, the atmosphere….soundtrack comes in….hell of a scene.
The thing that got me with the character Mac is that where normal people loose it and panic, he crosses a threshold and becomes focused. Obsessive. The moment when he releases the trigger of the mini-gun is a cross-roads where the mind of could have been driven to insanity from the terror, he switches himself to an obsessive reality. Superb character. Also, when they realise that they only wounded it, It becomes the moment when they all start to become aware of the futility of their weapons. Superb selection of the mini-gun in the writing.
This is such a pretentious way to explain what 90% of the audience got just by watching the scene. Don't church it up son
Grew up watching this. Absolute monster of a movie. Has become a cult and classic film over the decades. Never ages. Most amazing score by A silvertri. Instantly quotable film and dialogue. Having been quoting this film amongst friends, work colleagues for years. So So so good even to this day. One of the best action movies of all time. Without question. Fabulous cast. Original and classic film.

Best scene all of the time
By far and away the best in the series, one of the true classic action movies, that borders on horror in scenes. So good!
What’s great is that in the beginning, Billy is talking about how hopper and his men were shooting in all directions. After being reduced to the same fate, he calmly states that they’re all gonna die.
I love the whirring of the spent minigun!
Still my favorite movie. You can feel the jungle heat, mystery, and suspense in this epic, insanely macho man movie where it’s muscle versus monster, and prey turns to predator.
Holy shit, when Mac stopped firing his M60 as it went Winchester, the barrel turned red hot. Looks so realistic.
I grow up with this movie, watched 1000 times , thanks to my father who had it on VHS!
They dont do movie like this anymore.
….and to think, the director never wanted this scene in the movie, but the studio kept insisting. Finally, he relented, and gave the studio execs the biggest gun orgy ever. One of the few times a studio interference turned out to be a good thing
