Like a lot of things in life, only people who actually make these kind of things can truly appreciate the time, skill, effort and workmanship involved. Bravo sir, beautiful work 👏👏
Agreed
Not true! When you give gifts, you will find an equal amount of appreciation in those who receive your work. It is often for a different reason, including sentiment and meaningfulness, but it is still appreciation nonetheless!

That's not what he means. Unless you have made something like that, you don't understand how much time it actually takes. Many things I have made look simple and like it took no time to others. They don't understand and truly won't appreciate the time it took
A box. A simple box. Yet the care and craftsmanship that was put into it turns it into a timeless work of art. Well done. Just beautiful.
The difference in feel between batching 10 of these out on a table saw, router and sander vs the case and craftmanship of making 1 by hand is stunning.
Beautiful craftsmanship.
Absolutely breathtaking. I love your choice in wood species. Another magnificent creation. 😊
To that of beautiful women wearing small diamond earrings. Understated while elegant. I have worked with wood for most of my life (no longer counted in years but decades using both hands) in one form or another but never have I reached this level of artistry.
Pure craftsmanship. A stunning piece of work. Well done!!!
Stunning!
absolute masterpiece. bravo good sir
Really interested in the small glue kettle with burner. Can you tell us where it can be got from please?
And a joy to see hand tools used throughout - so sick of massive table saws cutting simple joints and making piles of dust.
I was also wondering what type of glue was used in the kettle.
Hecho a la perfección!! Buen trabajo 👏👏👏
Love to see the blackwing put to use on such a beautiful piece.
Beautiful to watch. Love the Andy Capp. Regards Jim.
I like to make boxes. Well done.
Ah finally! A youtube woodworker who understands wood movement! I've seen so many videos where the youtuber does not account for wood movements for the top and/or bottom of the boxes.
Thank you for yet another great video!
Didn’t he glue the top and the bottom into the grooves? Looked like that to me, such a small piece would it even matter?
Nothing at this scale is going to move a measurable amount to matter…….
So satisfying to watch you just making a box. Great craftsmanship!
Simplistic but elegant nice job
That's the kind of craftsmanship I'm striving to attain. Incredible job
Отличная работа! И подача хороша. Удачи вам и мира
Спасибо! Скорее бы уже!))
Beautiful work, truly artisan level craftsmanship. As a musician, I also appreciate the Bach. Thank you for sharing this
beautiful workmanship. shellac is the nicest finish
Absolutely stunning it turned out beautiful amazing work as always
Thank You for once again reminding us that beautiful things can be created without the use of table saws, dado blades, router tables and all the rest of woodworkings modern trappings.
As always excellent job, thanks for sharing.
I love everything about this video and this craftmanship. Anything I say will be short of words. However, this is the type of woodcraft I would like to do. Greta job, inspiring
Beautiful! I would cherish the box more than the gift!
Shellac for the win! Well played sir.
Delicat, bell, precís, tranquil..., me sense paraules davant aquest preciós treball. He gaudit molt!. Gràcies.
Delicate, beautiful, precise, calm..., I am speechless before this beautiful work. I enjoyed it a lot! Thanks.
Wonderful craftsmanship. Keep it up.
Wow gorgeous work and impressive results!
I'd love to see how you get your plane so sharp, it seems to glide so easily 😮
Truly like a sharp knife through melted butter. His chisels are always so sharp, I have cuts on my fingers after watching his videos.
Love the way you work. Simply beautiful
Amazing work. A true craftsman.
Hola! Me agrada tu técnica ya que eres cuidadoso. ¿Qué precio tiene una igual? Good bless you, friend.
So good to see some woodworking instead of programming a CNC machine.🎉
Just. Beautiful. Thank you.
Manifique!
Amazing as usual 👍Thanks for the inspiration.
Hello Sir, beauty full 🎉 I like at. Wunderbar gemacht absolut meisterlich 😅Guss aus Germany 🇩🇪
I hope you see this message: you are an inspiration to a lot of people who want to learn woodworking and who want to learn how to use hand tools. Keep doing what you're doing please! And I sincerely hope you get a lot of success doing it!
Nice box Yurii, great contrast of wood colours and species. The plow plane in the vice brought a tear to the eye but it worked very well in creating the rabbets.
Olhar este vídeo é relaxante e contemplar a criação do autor é poesia na marcenaria. Eu; aqui do Brasil. Obrigado.
Beautiful work
Absolutely lovely piece 😍😍
For my, this is unbelievable thing, how easily and piecefully your plane cut the hard wood. It seems anyone can do it! But the reality say, not me.
After many videos I watched, after sharpening blade and do the most proper setting, my plane is not working like your at all.
It just skate over the wood or do the cut and stop. Then I am not able to move further. In case I push too much, it creates deeper cut. You are just angry after several tries.
Full respect to your skills and tools. Maybe one day will be luck on my side too.
As always : Wonderful !
Beautiful as always, sir. Stay safe!
Soooo beuatiful ❤
Looks really nice! What did you apply with the sponge before the shellac?
Tung oil first
Amazing work, Yurii! Stunning little box!!! 😃
Happy new year! And stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Happy New Year to you too! Thank you!🤗
С Новым годом,тебе друг мой
so much talent, beautifully done! thanks for sharing SLAVA UKRAINI
Happy New Year aus Berlin, einfach nur schön
Absolutely beautiful work as always my friend. True craftsmanship. Love ur choice of species, the chatoyance in the maple. Superb. Questions, does bog oak tool differently than regular oak? Have yet to work w/ it. 2) Thought you were using hide glue, but now know ur using fish glue, any difference between the 2? Thanks for sharing ur work. I am grateful there are others that share the connection and passion
Как 100 лайков поствить? Красивейшая работа. Супер простая, но результат отличный!
Спасибо!
Stunning
Great audio/video, its a pleasure!
Bravo!
Кепка огонь!)
Спасибо:)
I would love to see you do a simple catholic oratory with such a technique.
Aww Gaboon Ebony, so nice! Just bought myself some the other day. Not sure what to make of it, but once again you nailed it
Bog oak.
@@petergrimshaw8291 is it Bog Oak, not ebony? I'm a newbie when it comes to woodworking. Not an expert on tree species
Bog Oak is semi fossilized Oak wood, found in peatlands
brilliant
Do you ever go into detail on how long these projects take you? I’m sure people would be surprised with how many hours this takes!
Beautiful work and very inspiring. @ 11:35 after glue up how do you avoid or why did you not worry about blowout while planing the top? Thanks
Very nice job as usual. Thight fit and tasty desing. I have to say the white color of figured wood was gorgeous before the shellac. Nevertheless beatiful box 🙏🤤
Awesome!
I noticed your block plane has a brass sole. Is that the same plane you made earlier?
Lovely piece. I don't understand why you put the shellac over the oil finish? Shellac is a sealer and a universal binder. Typically it goes on the bare wood and then you put a final top coat of whatever you want over the shellac.
It's cool 🔥
Да да Дима)))) итскул дуже))
Nice work🔥🔥

Compliment!!
Hola, muy buenas noches, saludos desde la ciudad de México, me permitire hacerte una pregunta ¿que tipo de recipiente usas para calentar el pegamento?

Cheers!
What kind of black wood is that, or do you use stain?
Stradivari glue?)
Yeah😉
Tres beau on achetez vous vos outils
Merci
Amazing work. What brand is that mini glue pot please?
Lee valley glue pot
Подскажите, что за клей?
what no. of hand plane u used for this project?
Best
What kind wood you used?
👍🔥
Юра Юра, что ж вы со мной делаете 😂
It did hurt my soul a little to see the dovetail saw crash into the vise after you cut into box in half. Otherwise, great build and great video as usual!
나는 각이 어느정도 살아있는게 좋다
What is the tool called that cuts the small mortis for the lid to sit in
That would be a plough plane. 👍
👋👍

Ну да:)

Beautiful work! Just curious as I'll be making my first box soon. Why no shooting board for the mitres?
That's an honest question but everyone has their way of doing it. If it works for you then that's the way. I myself do it either like that or with my Donkey ear. It's a type of shooting board.
👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽
I think my plane irons need more work 😕
Who makes your steel hammers? They look Japanese.
Zbytečně se stem sereš Kamo
That incense stick right in your face has to be annoying.
Great with with the combination plane but got PTSD watching a plane set blade down on the bench…
Was taught to always leave a plane on its side when not in use so not to compromise the blade edge.
- Failure to do so caused no end of bitching.
Otherwise a pleasure to watch as always.
You should be laying it blade down. Laying it down on its side can potentially knock the blade out of alignment. Source: Paul Sellers.
Thanks for reply and helpful ref. It was something that always bothered me. He was a lovely bloke and a great teacher, I miss the old bugger.
non stop planing so boring to watch
Stunning
