Not true! When you give gifts, you will find an equal amount of appreciation in those who receive your work. It is often for a different reason, including sentiment and meaningfulness, but it is still appreciation nonetheless!

That's not what he means. Unless you have made something like that, you don't understand how much time it actually takes. Many things I have made look simple and like it took no time to others. They don't understand and truly won't appreciate the time it took

The difference in feel between batching 10 of these out on a table saw, router and sander vs the case and craftmanship of making 1 by hand is stunning.

To that of beautiful women wearing small diamond earrings. Understated while elegant. I have worked with wood for most of my life (no longer counted in years but decades using both hands) in one form or another but never have I reached this level of artistry.

Really interested in the small glue kettle with burner. Can you tell us where it can be got from please?
And a joy to see hand tools used throughout - so sick of massive table saws cutting simple joints and making piles of dust.

For my, this is unbelievable thing, how easily and piecefully your plane cut the hard wood. It seems anyone can do it! But the reality say, not me.
After many videos I watched, after sharpening blade and do the most proper setting, my plane is not working like your at all.
It just skate over the wood or do the cut and stop. Then I am not able to move further. In case I push too much, it creates deeper cut. You are just angry after several tries.
Full respect to your skills and tools. Maybe one day will be luck on my side too.

Have yet to work w/ it. 2) Thought you were using hide glue, but now know ur using fish glue, any difference between the 2? Thanks for sharing ur work. Lovely piece. I don't understand why you put the shellac over the oil finish? Shellac is a sealer and a universal binder. Typically it goes on the bare wood and then you put a final top coat of whatever you want over the shellac.

Great with with the combination plane but got PTSD watching a plane set blade down on the bench…
Was taught to always leave a plane on its side when not in use so not to compromise the blade edge.
    - Failure to do so caused no end of bitching.
Otherwise a pleasure to watch as always.
