I Love James Taylor and I love Cat Stevens and The Doors, The Beatles. Janice Joplin, Carol King, Joan Jet, Cat Haecker! hahaha and, oh so many more, and more to come......luv cat. and So many more. Lover of Music!
How beautiful James! "That flawless pickin!!...", That particular "amplified ringing sound" of those strings & of course your wonderful voice. I've grown up with your Music. Thank you for making my days much better. Mario 💜😌
I remember buying the Sweet Baby James album, then Mudslide Slim, then One Man Dog, Gorilla and a greatest hits album...that kind of plaintive, stripped down sound was something I loved. Then I watched him live in London and Manchester. Such a solid musician.
His voice is clear as a bell here. Such an interesting song. Almost anything he sings is beautiful. Like the commentary that usually accompanies this.😊
Soulful purity of voice is unrivaled as is his story telling with songs that make you think. And oh my, to play the guitar like that - a distinct and magical touch
Finally, a version of this song for guitar players! What I mean by that is, although the extra instruments are wonderful, there's nothing like getting a mix where the guitar part can be heard (and seen!) just the way it was written. That way, guitar players like me can see and hear exactly how to play this song. Not that it is easy, it isn't. This song has particular syncopations and surprises which are unique, and yet they are very James Taylor-ish. So, I have my work cut out for me! One other thought - Have you ever noticed that camera people are never guitar players? If they were, they would show a lot more of the left hand, and a lot less of the right hand and the face. 🏔🏔🚢🛥🌨❄🎼🎵🎶🪕🎻🎺🎹
That Em9 at the beginning and end is hard to nail down. James even said on VH1 Storytellers that he busted his thumb rollerblading about a year before the performance and “Frozen Man” was one of the more difficult songs for him to play. He nailed it of course!
Thank you, James, for sharing your beautiful talent. You have been an integral "tune" in the soundtrack of my life. Your music has, quite literally, made my life easier when it was hard, and expanded the beauty & happiness when all was well. A minstrels work completely fulfilled, I would think. Your work, in my opinion, is just another of those "little things" that seems to confirm the existence of an "overseer" that loves us, and wishes us to be happy. Live long, and prosper.
Hi, I don't know if James reads these, but is it possible to ask him if he could release a performance of "The Water Is Wide" from the time of it's original release? It's always been one of my favorite songs of his. Thanks.
I think he played it with the Boston Pops in 1991. I believe it is up here on UA-cam somewhere but it would be great to have that entire performance restored and uploaded to JT’s channel.
That would be a true medical miracle! Kinda makes one wonder if the field of cryogenics has any merit, no? It’s a marvelous song and a fantasy/ mental tickler. Several “frozen men” exist: the hunter prehistoric man found in melting ice, expeditioners on Mt. Everest, probably some in Antarctica, and a cryogenic storage facility. None that I have heard of have actually been resurrected - can’t be done without reanimation by their soul. But fascinating to consider.
The sound person who mixed this piece should be acknowledged...excellent.
Agreed! His voice and Olson guitar sound spectacular here!
Sound man.
Agreed. Best version.. wow
James is a singular artist, a brilliant lyricist & the last true Troubadour. An American treasure.
Frozen man is the song I shall take with me into my Grave, someday...Great song!Thank you so much, James Taylor!
This song leaped out of the album. A stunning tale, triumphant/tragic. Haunting and unforgettable.
The humble genius and kind hearted soul. A living legend who has overcome some demons. Bless you, james.
so glad to hear your music.
always appreciate you
amazing song - makes me ponder the whole idea of our time here on earth.
dont ponder too long

This song has always been one of my absolute favorites of James. What a truly gifted musician & singer!
Love this era of James Taylor
What a fantastic song, I love it. The version JT does from Spanish TV, playing the Requinto Whitebook is wonderful. I look forward to this rendition.
James could sing the phone book and it would win a Grammy - such a treasure. Would love to hear “Baby Boom Baby” this way
Cheers to a “Frozen Man.”
Now we just need a JT guitar lesson video for this 👍
How beautiful James! "That flawless pickin!!...", That particular "amplified ringing sound" of those strings & of course your wonderful voice. I've grown up with your Music. Thank you for making my days much better. Mario 💜😌
One of my absolute favorite JT songs. Never tire of hearing it.
I think this song could be turned into a children's book, sort of like Sweet Baby James. It's a story both beautiful and mysterious.
My daughter was 4 and my son was 2 in 1993. Beautiful tones from England, James!

Good point!🎉
I've dreamed of this day :) (Though, try playing it on DADGAD...for that matter, ANY James Taylor.)

Hi, I saw your comment and thought I would tell you. The Water is Wide, came out in September, 1991 (New Moonshine Album) 😊❤
yeah, that's a great idea
I wanna hear Water is wide
@@WhitePelicansareRealYes, that was known. That's why I stated from the time of its original release.

Alas, not yet. The freezing process does enormous damage to internal organs that no one yet knows how to repair.
