- Happy Halloween! This year I figured I'd step out of my comfort zone and try reviewing an actual horror game for once. Well, two horror games technically. Nanashi no Game and Nanashi No Game: Me, translated as The Nameless Game and The Nameless Game: Eye are two Japan exclusive horror titles developed and published by Square for the Nintendo DS. Thanks to the work of some dedicated fans, we have English Translations and I really wanted to try them out for myself!

Underrated channel.
Thank you! I am glad you like my stuff
This game singularly encapsulates multiple things I LOVE about the DS as a system
1- the unique and creative way that games can take advantage of the DS form factor and/or features
2- the sheer number and variety of games on the system mean that, even over a decade later, I'm still discovering new hidden gems I had no idea existed
The DS is easily my favorite handheld system of all time. So. Many. Great. Games. Enough to last you a lifetime
It's definitely a unique one, and I really enjoyed it.
I'm still blown away by how powerful the DS was for a portable console. These 3d environments are fucking awesome looking.
Right? I was incredibly impressed.
Thanks for this review! this game hasn't been talked about much, so hearing from you helped me be able to understand the game as someone who doesn't have the time to play these games myself
Thanks for watching, im glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome little review. I never knew these games existed. They certainly look interesting. For some reason I love the 3D capabilities of the DS
Very interesting game for what it was... it's just a shame that none of them (the 2 main DS games/the mobile phone game/the spin-offs) were localized. I liked Eye as well, it had some other tricks up his sleeve. Quite a cool premise, thanks for the review. :)
Thanks for watching and commenting, glad you enjoyed the video! I didnt know about the phone games or spin-offs.
I'm a jaded and experienced horror game fan. This game got me to jump and shake on several occasions. Im obsessed with the atmosphere and the glitchy haunted game aesthetic. I really want to play the dsiware "Cursed Game" titles. They're mostly playable without knowing Japanese but i cant help but want to know what's going on....
Update. I'm playing Volume 1 of the Cursed Games. Anyone remember the flash game cat mario?? This is worse. They don't have a countdown of lives.instead they count how many times you die. In the later levels you WILL die hundreds of times per level
I have never heard of these games. They look interesting though! I imagine these games are difficult to buy in America if I wanted to try them though. I miss the unique use of the DS screens. Lol
Damn so I just found your videos now and honestly they are awesome! You're really good in doing reviews, I hope you'll do some more still in the future
Thanks! Really means a lot to hear that. Im still working on stuff, just slowly.
And here I was thinking that the story of the first one was pretty good
Completed the first game, but got stuck right at the beginning of the second game. I should try that one again sometime. Great review!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Really helps out a lot!
Spoooooooookeeeeey.
These games look pretty fun. I'm personally partial to survival horror over the more walking-simulator style stuff. But I also greatly appreciate great exploration and atmosphere, which both of these seem to have. And I really like the idea of the transition between the game and the real world to explore in the second one. I can't say I'm likely to ever play either of these, because I have the same strange aversion to handheld games AND emulation these days. But who knows? Maybe someday that'll change.
I'm partial to survival... not survival horror, not even survival games, just.. survival. Living is fun.
@@StilesReviews Lol, indeed!
Bro tnx for the review.
Thanks for watching!
Hey @@StilesReviews Can I skip the First game and just proceed to the second?
@@AshenChedツ Uhhh I don't see why not. They are definitely connected to one another but I don't think it is strictly necessary since you play as a different character and the mystery sorta starts over.
Stiles....i miss you. I need another review. I hope you're doing well.
Thanks for the kind words. Im mostly alive... mostly!
May I ask you about your preferred DS emulator setup? I've been trying to get it work on my gaming laptop but with no luck unfortunately. I'm having problems with my frame performance.
I hate to give such a vague answer, but every setup is gonna be different. I use DeSemume and have had to mess with it constantly, sometimes on a game by game basis. I even had some stuttering while recording this very video on my desktop rig.
