I have been training this kick for a long time since it works well even with my low flexibility. I never thought about executing it from such close distance and jumping backwards. Must try that! Thank you for the tutorial.
Glad to have been of help. I actually think the back kick and jump back kick are two techniques that can work well from within a multitude of distances (including as portrayed here, short range) due to the nature of the chamber/delivery. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hope you are enjoying your training, Taekwondo is an a fantastic art to learn, glad you found this of use! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Hey, glad you liked this, I think either the left or right hand will disguise it equally well for different reasons. Good to see you are enjoying the new videos!
I do allot of street fighting. And I've thrown the back a couple of times. They all landed but not much damage. I saw the tutorial and DAMN you are the real deal your so badass!! I did the tutorial. It helped!! Thank you guys so much.
My only advice for anyone transitioning between styles is just to remain open to change. Don't forget what you have done previously but adapt it in order to use it and benefit the new system you are learning. Depending on the style of Karate you may well feel like you are starting again (the rigid long stances of some traditional arts are counter to the shorter more mobile ones found in Muay Thai/MMA) but stick with it. Eventually the frustration of having to learn new motor skills will really pay off as you will have both systems to play off each other when training, sparring or competing. It is a tough balance to achieve learning/training multiple styles (especially when they cover the same range i.e. striking) but it can be done!
+Stuart Tomlinson I'm curious as to where karate's long stances can be applied in either muay thai or mma, to me they've always been a conditioning drill.
Glad you liked it, Jamie is an exceptionally talented black belt and one of the UK's front runners in marrying traditional karate with other combat arts into his own unorthodox but highly effective MMA system.
